  1. Well considering that over the weekend, Brett gave that interview saying he had reconnected with Eva and wanted another shot ....

Early afternoon, Gideon pinned Eva in the elevator, the first time he'd any contact with her in over a week, and she said some hurtful things ....

Now there she was on the street, not only angry enough at him to flip him off, but also, she whipped out her cell phone ....

He might have been fearing the worst - that she was calling Brett, because she was now in an especially bad retaliatory mood. Bad enough that Eva had to endure pictures of him with Corrine, but to see them together with her own eyes walking out of the place where she and Gideon met .....

I'll bet Monday was an especially sleepless night for him.

I have a feeling this ran through his head.  He had to feel guilty about how much he was hurting Eva.  In addition, I'm sure her comment about "blow your load" in the elevator was a reminder about his comment on their ride to NC about Brett.

  2. I hope that this book is a happy book.  The book I am reading right now has been bawling and I need some happy romance not sad romance

I think this is going to be a balance between happy romance and angst when they relive Gideon's past.  I'm expecting a really good book that will make us love these characters even more.

  3. Just re read chapter one again!

The snapshot of a mans hand (Gideons) grasping the sheets is in chapter 2 at the end when they are making love. :)

But that one is for chapter 15.  Snippet 2 about opening a christmas present I think is the next part of chapter 2 and that is the snapshot picture that goes with it.  I think snippet 1 and snippet 4 will be their discussion about relationships and the recent past.  That is most likely the end of chapter 2 or the beginning of chapter 3.

As a cop's daughter, Eva realizes it's too dangerous to tell anyone else the truth. Eva even walked away from Gideon, knowing it was too dangerous to even have any more contact with him, period, for the foreseeable future. From Chapter One:

I was suddenly struck with the knowledge that I would have to keep a dreadful secret from my best friend.

Cary was my touchstone, my voice of reason, my favorite shoulder to lean on–and a brother to me in every way that mattered. I hated the thought of having to hold back what Gideon had done for me.

I wanted desperately to talk about it, to get help working it out in my head, but I’d never be able to tell anyone. Even our therapist could be ethically and legally bound to break our confidence.

Cary might suspect Gideon had something to do with it. The thought had even crossed Eva's mind the weekend she dumped him. Monica and Stanton almost certainly suspect Gideon had something to do with it. But none of them can ever be told for certain by either Eva or Gideon. Direct knowledge would put any of them into the same place Eva is right now - colluding to cover up the crime. Also from Chapter One:

We were colluding to hide a crime, and I’d be lying if I said that didn’t seriously bother me–I was the daughter of a police officer, after all–but the alternative was too awful to consider.

So yes, this is really going to s*** that Cary cannot be told the truth that Gideon felt he had very good reason for deliberately hurting Eva. All Cary knows right now is Gideon broke Eva's heart. And if Cary figures out, as he probably will, that Gideon and Eva are sneaking around, Cary may assume the worse - Gideon is cheating on Corrine and keeping Eva on the string. I think Cary would be seriously ticked off at the prospect of Mrs. Corrine Cross with all the respect and Eva regulated to being Gideon's mistress.

    Morning.
I was wondering about Victor. If he guessed about Gideons secret, although he didn't have proof, this would put him in an awkward situation. I'm thinking his daughter would come first, over his job.

I don't know.  Don't you think it will come out that Nathan is the person who attacked Cary?  It seems to me that Eva will share this information with Cary and, even if they can't confirm, they will all suspect that Gideon was involved in protecting Eva.  I remember Cary asking Eva on several occasions if she really believed that Gideon was having s*x with Corrine.  I believe if Eva told Cary she was going to try again with Gideon he would be on her side.

  5. You are correct...this goes with the snippet with Brett.   Brilliant deduction Sherlock Holmes.

I kind of thought the Brett thing went with snapshot 4.  Chapter 17 has to be a few days later.  Of course it could be snapshot 4 was an invitation to the event that will happen in chapter 17.  this is so confusing.

  6. Oh Julie

Wouldn't that be wonderful to have a man to buy a house just like that for you.  It would be a lovely wedding present but I think like everyone else that maybe a wee while away and as SD has confirmed on FB that there will be 5 books I think book 3 will be going through a lot of the relationship problems and getting over the hurdles, I hope the Nathan killing thing dies down in this book as well but you never know.

I am hoping even by the end of book 3 there may even be an engagement lol :)

As I remember Gideon wanted them to buy the house in NC  together so it would be their place.  I'm thinking they will do that and use it as a place to escape to when needed.

  7. We do know Gideon likes sex toys. Page 139 of Bared, when Eva starts finding stuff in the hotel room and it dawns on her it's actually a f*** pad.

"The top one on the left side held sex toys still in their packages. I didn't look at the drawers below that one. I'd seen enough."

What could the kinky Mr. Cross have stocked inside the drawers Eva didn't dare open?

He never answered Eva when she asked if he used a swing before.  I'm sure he had a lot of goodies but if he cleaned out the F.... pad did he throw them out or keep them for later?

  8. Detective Graves ambushed Eva at the Krav Maga studio, and Graves had her spill-the-beans talk with Eva while they sat in the bleachers. A "talking to" session that ended up slipping over the line into "questioning a witness without her lawyer" session.

Oh please, is Chapter Sixteen where my big theory plays out - that Graves screwed up so badly the prosecution forever lost the ability to use certain evidence against Gideon in court. That this is how the murder case will go away -- almost guaranteed forever go away -- very quickly. So quickly that the DA's office doesn't dare even seek to indict and arrest Gideon. Drop the case in other words.

    Fingers crossed for Cross!

I hope you are right.  Disappointed a little that it has to wait until chapter 17 that will only leave 5 chapters (based on the # of snapshots we get) for the couple to start to go public.

  9. The first time I read that scene, too, I thought Corrine possibly was recalling a necklace she always used to wear, maybe something  beautiful Gideon gave her as a gift and so she wore while they were together.

But yet again, this careful re-reading of a chapter at a time is making me pick up on possible patterns of one clue after another. Maybe Gideon had sexually collared Corrine as part of his early sexual experimentation, exploring ways in which he could learn to feel sexually in control.

If this is true, he could have been kicking himself when Eva jumped to the conclusion Gideon might want to collar her -- something that most certainly would have been a "hard limit" for her, given her history. (Hard limits are the list of things doms and especially subs agree to beforehand that won't ever be a part of their consensual sexually play -- the sexual activities they refuse to do, in other words.)

I thought about this scene when I first read it too.  I was wondering if the D/s relationship that he had with Corrine is one of the reasons he feels he needs to manage her.   Maybe her husband couldn't be a dominant and that is why they didn't work out.

  10. Examples of possible other sources for dirt that in fact Cary would have been the source of:

    Gideon's sexually violent nightmares?

Gideon has f****** a lot of women, many of whom ended up bitter when he was done with them. What if one or more of them somehow knew about his nightmares? Or even somehow someone broke into Dr. Petersen's patient files. Copies of that stuff would be worth huge $$$$ if the thief wanted to sell them to the highest tabloid bidder.

Gideon being cruel to Eva, whom he'd already "dumped" in the middle of an important meeting at Cross Industries (and he was deliberately cruel that time.)

There were people at that meeting who could have later gossiped. Mark most certainly wouldn't have. But what about the others? Or insiders in Gideon's office too? Maybe that redheaded receptionist who now has a secret axe to grind, fed up with the parade of women going into Gideon's office in recent weeks - Eva, Magdalene, Corrine.

Gideon being cruel to Eva, while she still was his actual girlfriend,  in front of a dinner crowd by ignoring her and instead focusing all his attention on his ex, Corrine. (This wasn't on purpose, but it still was a very rotten thing he did)

There were all kinds of witnesses present. Lots of high society people -- and those types of people know lots of reporters. Any one of a number of people could have talked to Deanna, starting with her possible evil source, Dr. Lucas.

Gideon being cold as ice to Eva, his date, in front of a dinner crowd the night of the advocacy center fundraiser. (Yet another way Gideon screwed up in front of a lot of people)

Just like the Corrine incident, there was a crowd of people who would have seen how miserable Eva was and how chilly Gideon was.)

Imagine how much damage stuff like that could do -- especially because unfortunately, it's pretty much the truth. Every one of these incidents hurt Eva badly -- even though Gideon didn't mean to hurt her in three out of the four. But he is actually guilty of publicly mistreating her through part of Reflected. Cary could jump at a chance for some payback.

Personally I don't think Cary will be a leak because it would hurt Eva.  Even if Eva & Gideon never see each other again I don’t think Cary would play a part in hurting her.  Besides he knows the issues an abused person wrestles with.

Revealing Gideon's nightmares could only come from Eva or Cary.  We are told he never slept with any of the other women.  Regardless of how angry Eva is with Gideon, Cary knows that could backfire in some way.

I'm not sure how observant the others were in the meeting.  In all fairness Eva is an assistant and normally wouldn't attend these meetings except to take notes/minutes.  Personally I think Gideon ignored her because he knew he couldn't look at her without his true feelings of love and want showing in his eyes.  Eva & Mark didn't know that and, in my opinion, they were the only two aware of Gideon's cold treatment.

The way Gideon treated Eva at the dinners was rude and many witnesses saw it.  If this appeared in print I think they would be suspicious of Dr. Lucas because he has the biggest ax to grind.  Maybe Cary would confirm these events but this is the only story I think he would participate in.

Of course I could be wrong.

  11. I haven't really seen anything, at this point, that makes me think of Gideon & Eva as traditional D/s relationship candidates.  I always had the feeling that Gideon asked for a safe word because he didn't want to take Eva some place that would scare her.  She wants to have the memory of Nathan erased from her head and, while Gideon is up for the task he doesn't want to move too quickly.

He (Gideon) wanted her comfortable in their relationship.  Also while Gideon is a dominant/alpha male with a need to be in control I think he likes to give over a little to Eva when she needs it.  I think he senses that Eva "strikes first" so to speak because she doesn't want someone to take advantage of her.  Gideon wants her to completely lose herself in their physical relationship and wants her to submit to his need to pleasure her.

That is what I've seen so far however, I'm not sure I expressed this correctly.  It makes sense to me when I think about it but not when I put it in writing.  Sylvia may have a stronger D/s relationship in store for later however, I don't think Eva is ready for that at this point of her recovery.

OFF TOPIC:  My time is always off by 1 hour.  I have changed my time zone 4 times and it is still off.  Any suggestions?

  12. I didn't realize what date it was at first so I just signed up today for it too. I know LN is also signed up so this way if I miss anything taking notes wise, I know LN will be also be taking notes. I'm trying to think of questions to ask.

I signed up now I have to figure out what question I want to ask.
