  1. Question for everyone, i posted it in the other sub folder as well by mistake

I re-read chapter 1 again last night and some of the wording kept jumping out at me as if I had read it before, not just in this chapter then I looked at the snippets and snapshots, did anyone else notice

Snippet #3 is actually from Chapter 2 - "Honestly, Gideon Cross has been designed to f*** a woman right out of her mind"

Snippet #2 I think goes with Snapshot 2 - Christmas present opened "Waking up to you is like... presents on Christmas morning"

Snippet #6&7 I think have to go with Snapshot 9

Snippet#9 is also from Chapter 2

not sure if anyone else agrees with me but these were my thoughts last night  :)

  3. I read Fifty trilogy and Sylvia's books are so much better!! I was so happy she decided to make it a series. I can't get my friends to read the books though either so it's nice to come on here and discuss it with you and everyone. : ) one of these days my smiley emoticon will work on here lol

I agree Caroline but I am slowly getting one of my friends to read Crossfire, she is slowly getting there and has just passed the first outing with Gideon and Eva in BTY but I have told her it does get so much better so fingers crossed she will finish soon but I love coming in here, only with the time delay, me being in the UK I am now catching up with everything that was written while I was asleep, at work of course, no point in not catching up here, it is Friday and I am a boss so I can get away with it so far LOL :)

  4. Corrine needs to be gone so fast. to be honest i don't think Gideon led her on as much as we think. i think he was honest with her about them not getting back together. I think he would have sold her the friendship line, since she was going through a bad divorce. I think she is the one who just assumed once they starting spending time together that he would fall for her. I agree that in the past he should have been upfront with her. But this time around i think she knows exactly what the score is but she's i denial. Thats why she keeps trying to attack Eva, so she will walk away and then Corrine can pick up the pieces!

I agree with you there JLS, Gideon may have his faults but I don't think he would deliberately lead Corrine on knowing she would be hurt at the end and I think he would have been honest with her about his feelings for Eva, how Corrine dealt with that is anyones guess

  5. I have to say in Entwined Imthink I will enjoy the fact they are sneaking around because it sounds fun, sexy, and exciting butnonlynfor a few chapters I want them out in the open declaring their love to all those brunettes with those pesky exaggerated expectations!!!

    Hi SScrph

I re-read the snippets last night and the snapshots and I wondered if with Gideon asking Eva to come home to him was his way of saying they had moved in together, I know that sounds really quick but why else would you refer to your home as their home.

  6. NO!

Just gone on the site. They can't ship to the UK. Is the store in New York please? I am over for a holiday in May next year.

    What a lovely ring!

I am hoping to go over next September to LA as we are doing a fly drive from LA to meet up with family in Florida and I am hoping to see Hubby to see if we can go to NYC first for a couple of days.  Does anyone else know where else they have shops.  I also saw one on the Tiffany site, slightly more expensive though :)

  7. I'm GUESSING an engagement ring might have come up by now. We haven't seen an engagement ring in a snapshot. We'd go nuts with happiness if we did. Sorta like we went nuts in a bad way when a New York City detective shield came up.

I was simply stringing together: gift of expensive jewelry worn every day near the hand (watch) + "Happy ....?" Happy two-month anniversary maybe. Put a trip to a jewelry store together with a certain amount of time a couple has been together and what might you get? That's where my engagement ring guess came up.

thanks LN, I get it now, sorry like I said, head is not with it this afternoon, just thought I had missed something LOL :)

  8. OK, how's this for a theory ....

Snapshot #10 is of a diamond-encrusted woman's watch. Among the possible things it can represent:

    • passage of time
    • a very serious gift of jewelry, the sort that a very rich man in love would give the woman in his life

Our brand-new Snapshot #12 is of flowers and a note indicating "Happy .... something?" It can represent:

    • an expression of love
    • recognition of some sort of specific occasion, such as a specific date

We're now in the neighborhood of the two-month anniversary of when Gideon met Eva

So combine: an expression of love, a serious gift of jewelry a man in love gives his woman, a love relationship anniversary  ....

..... not only did Gideon give Eva a piece of jewelry she could wear on her wrist every day .... but .... he also gave her an engagement ring.

Hi LN, sorry bit late in the day here in the UK and at work so head not making much sense when reading LOL (when does it ever), I am not getting the bit you put about the Engagement Ring, can you explain to me please :)

    thanks

  9. I think I've got this figured out, how "hours" could have passed between Eva listening to Graves and Eva being back home, thinking about the drama of the evening's events.

Eva was in a complete daze when she left the Krav Maga studio and had Clancy drive her to Gideon's. She remained in a daze as she sat on his doorstep. In fact, at the time she didn't know how long she had been there. She didn't snap out of her daze until Gideon came off the elevator. They talked, and she went home. Out of her daze now, she figures out what time it is. She knows when her Krav Maga class ended. Simple math makes her realize how much time elapsed.

    So possible timeline:

    • Eva has Clancy drive her to Gideon's.
    • Still in a daze when she arrives, she goes on autopilot thinking she's going to stay for the evening/night. In other words, she's going to Gideon's instead of her apartment for the rest of the night. So she dismisses Clancy for the night instead of asking him to wait.
    • She sits there for a considerable amount of time while Gideon, still in a great deal of emotional anguish, worked late to help distract himself and then spent a couple of hours at the gym trying to physically outrun his pain through a punishing workout.
    • She does snap out of the daze when he finally does get home.
    • She tells him exactly what Graves said, and tells him he needs to call his defense team ASAP.
    • She also tells him, as a cop's daughter, it's quite possible Graves is trying to set them up. So she tells him she's leaving right now.
    • Talking with her at that moment is the last thing Gideon wants. Because it would involve talking about what he'd done. Sit there on the doorstep and hold her some more -- yes. Have a conversation beyond what she told him? No.
    • So he doesn't stop her when she leaves. In agony, he watches the elevator doors shut.
    • She gets a taxi and heads right home. Agh, she paid with a debit card, too, so she left an electronic trail of her trip.
    • He calls his defense team.
    • Then he screws up his courage to go to Eva's. He needs to know whether his worse fears are true: she now would conclude he is a physically violent person, one it would not be safe for her to continue to be around. Is it now over forever?

Thanks for the timeline LN, makes sense :)

  10. Holy, sorry I didn't even notice the writing on the card..! Ok so not a wedding..!! It reads happy... Well I think their in July so it wouldn't be Father's Day. Not sure..! Ummmm..!

Not sure if Fathers Day is appropriate for white roses, I have squinted and squinted at the message, you can see the Happy Clearly but there are 2 other words and I wondered if it was Eva sending Gideon flowers as in BTY where she bombarded him with flowers, maybe it is his birthday?

  11. One of the snippets Sylvia posted is Gideon's POV. It didn't give us any indication that he felt he was being cruel to her. It did give the impression that he was worried that Eva didn't want to have anything to do with him in the future. I don't know if he realizes how cruel he has been with Eva. I don't know if he understands that his actions are truly devastating Eva.

    Hey Julie

I think deep down Gideon knew he had to be cruel to Eva as it was the only way he could stay away, I got the impression when he caught her in the lift giving back her the ring he got her and asking her to wait, he knew he was hurting her, he could probably see it in her face and eyes and it was tearing him apart and that is why the only way he could convince Eva that he was hurting too and missing her was to give her the ring back and ask her to wait, also in Chapter 1 when he began to cry all his pent up emotion of how he was feeling was released as he must have been going through torture all the time waiting to be with her and seeing how she would react. :0

  12. A good lawyer could turn around Eva's admission that she dumped Gideon on Saturday.  It isn't unusual for someone to be involved with two people at the same time.  The Lawyer could say Eva finally had enough and said this is it.  I can't wait any longer for you to make a decision.  ...Or something like that.

OK someone posted on one of the other threads that she talked to Sylvia at a meet and greet and Sylvia indicated that Monica was involved in the Nathan murder more than people think.   That will put a whole different twist on everything.

I never read anything about that, but I am new to the site and was not on from yesterday afternoon so now going through catch up, I always thought Monica and Stanton probably had the meeting with Gideon at Gideon's home when Eva called him from the hospital and she heard muffled voices from his home and then she hung up.  I still think it was Monica, Stanton probably Clancy and Angus all there to discuss Nathan so I would not be surprised if they are all linked to the murder.

  13. New Eva has also decided that as far as Brett goes, she's " .... never going to wade in that pool again." (Entwined With You, Chapter One).

Poor Brett doesn't stand a chance. Even if Eva and Gideon hadn't secretly reconciled, still Brett didn't stand a chance. Eva pretty much told him that weeks ago, when they had lunch, but he wasn't convinced she meant it. So he's going to give it his best shot. And unfortunately for Gideon, Gideon cannot step forward yet and publicly claim Eva is his (nor can Eva claim Gideon is her's). To the world, there is no more Eva and Gideon -- that's been over for good for weeks now.

Morning LN, I agree with both what you and Julie have written

  14. Deanna is, however, exposing herself to a huge legal risk if she does in fact smear Gideon's reputation by getting serious dirt on him. Because she is motivated by malice. One false step, and she opens herself to being utterly destroyed by being found guilty of libel.

As long as every word she prints is true, Gideon's can't touch her. But if she gets something wrong, and he can prove it, it's a slam dunk to nail her for libel.

If you ladies can stand one more mini-lesson in media law in the United States.

Ordinary, every day people have a much higher degree of protection against news stories that contain untrue information about them. If an untrue story runs that seriously harms an ordinary person runs, he/she can sue for libel, and has a halfway decent chance of succeeding -- even if the false story is simply because the reporter screwed up.

Public figures, however, give up a great deal of protection against the media. By putting themselves in the spotlight, they've put themselves in a place where the media's going to be paying attention to them. And because reporters are human who make mistakes, there will be stories that contain false information. Sometimes the information could even harm the celebrity.

However, if it's a case where the reporter honestly made a mistake, then a public figure can't successfully win a libel case against that reporter and/or his/her news organization. The legal concepts -- and this is the exact way it's phrased -- is "absence of malice." Absence of malice is an absolute defense against lawsuits brought by public figures. And it is the plaintiff, not the news organization that has the burden of proving malice. In other words, the news organization doesn't have to prove itself innocent of malice -- the plaintiff must prove the reporter guilty.

If Deanna screwed up, Gideon could easily prove malice. She'd be in deep, deep trouble, as would be any news organizations that ran her false reports. Gideon could actually dismantle them through civil lawsuits.

    Thanks LN :)

  15. I think he would be cruel for Corrine, and forget about the implications to Eva. That is why I don't know that I can accept that from Gideon. Yes he has hurt Eva emotionally and he has to work on building that trust again, but I don't know that I could take that he physically was doing anything with Corrine.

I am with you there, we all know Gideon has been emotionally draining on Eva and we all know why he connected again with Corrine but to deliberately hurt her by being physical with Corrine I am not sure if I could respect him if that ever happened, I would want better for Eva she has been through enough.

He may have to kiss Corrine to keep the pretence up but hopefully it stopped there, like he said in Chapter 1, he missed Eva so much and cannot survive without her "I can survive anything if I have you".  I think it also cemented the emotion Gideon felt for Eva when he started to cry while making love, he must have been so scared that he would never be with her again and that was probably crushing him emotionally, I don't think he has ever loved anyone as hard as he loves Eva.

  16. Too, among the many people 100% convinced there is no Eva and Gideon is Brett along with Cary.

I think Cary definitely is on Team Brett right now. As far as Cary knows, Brett's only past sin was a history of being promiscious (something Cary's never gonna hold against Brett, given that Cary likes to screw around himself.) The worse Brett did was view Eva as just another groupie at a time when Eva wanted to be Brett's girlfriend. Well now, Brett's been making it crystal clear he wants a full-fledged relationship with Eva.

Yes, Cary knows Eva is still in love with Gideon. And Cary did see some of the happiness Eva had when things went well with Gideon. But Cary's also seen Gideon suffers from sexually violent nightmares that have proven to be a threat to Eva's physical and mental safety. He's seen how much Eva suffered when things were going badly between her and Gideon. And he watched from the sidelines as Gideon coldly broke Eva's heart.

Eva's still working through her post-break-up issues with Gideon. She's still processing what happened, and Cary, ever a sympathetic ear and sounding board for his BFF, is listening to Eva without judging her. But inside, I'm convinced Cary truly hopes things really are finished this time between Eva and Gideon. And waiting in the wings is Mr. Rebound, someone who could once again rock Eva's world sexually and who would treat Eva with respect. I think Cary will try to do what he can to help Brett get a shot at what Cary believes Gideon threw away with both hands.

I hope not really, I can understand that Cary would believe Brett would make her happy but as Eva has said before she does not want the groupie lifestyle and surely Cary would see that Eva sitting in NYC while Brett was out on the road would not be a good thing for Eva, her insecurities would come out and she would be jeleous of any other girl that was in contact with Brett, Cary knows how jeleous she can get.

I can understand Cary being glad that Eva is not with Gideon but surely Cary is not deaf or blind and will hear Eva back with Gideon if you know what I mean afterall when he was laid up after the attack in the house he asked Eva what vitamins Gideon took to keep that stamina up so he obviously can hear what is going on and as we all know neither Eva or Gideon are that quiet.  I think Cary will be happy when he observes Eva being happy, I just hope he doesn't push the Brett thing too much, it may backfire in his face.

  17. LN I agree that Gideon is kicking Corrine out of his life for what she has done, but you say... "Now he's got her believing she's his girlfriend. They may not be sleeping together yet, but they are a couple once again." Do you believe that Gideon has been kissing Corrine? I know it probably seems silly on my part, but after the whole kissing Brett incident and Gideon telling Eva in NC what her kisses mean to him, is Gideon actually kissing Corrine? Has he let this "dating" thing get that far? I am trying to work this all out in my mind.

I hope not Kirsten, like you said Gideon went mental with Eva kissing Brett, would he be that cruel in kissing Corrine?

  18. Interesting observation that both Gideon and Corrine are guilty of manipulating situations. Both of them very calculatedly hurt Eva.

Gideon did it because he believed he had to for Eva's own protection: her physical safety (eliminate the Nathan threat to her life forever) and her legal safety (make sure that if he got caught, she wouldn't go down with him too for having been involved.) But there were selfish motivations in there too -- trying to control her so that he could forever shut her out of yet another set of his dark secrets, and to keep her waiting in the wings for him. Especially to keep her in limbo because an ex-lover, Brett, was after her.

Start to finish, Gideon really screwed up on many different levels. If he felt he absolutely had to create a safety-zone between him and Eva, and to use Corrine as a cover story to protect himself from motive, then he ought to have had the decency to have asked Eva for a break in their relationship. Let her assume he wanted to attempt to work through his unfinished business with Corrine. Yes, Eva would have been insecure and jealous, but she also might be more apt to believe Gideon was staying platonic with Corrine. He'd have stood a much better chance of getting Eva back, as soon as the coast was clear, by kicking Corrine out of his life permanently and telling Eva he wants her (Eva) as his wife.

Instead, Gideon tried to manipulate Eva's emotions and sent her mixed messages that just made matters worse, leaving her writhing. Then he lost control of the situation when she found out about the rape photos and assumed the worse -- including that he was a cheating coward. His attempt to keep her on hold blew up in his face and broke her heart.

He's got to now live with the ramifications of that for a long time. Even though she knows now why he felt he had to do it, she also knows he committed a form of emotional violence toward her -- he very calculatedly used her own feelings of love to manipulate her and hurt her. She knows he's capable of it, and she's afraid it could happen again. There he was, so afraid she'd think he was a violent person because of Nathan. In fact, she's now afraid he's capable of emotional abuse.

As for Corrine, her motives for hurting Eva were entirely selfish. She very carefully laid out a plan to destroy Gideon's new relationship. Corrine hurt Gideon too -- Corrine sparked some very serious fights between Eva and Gideon and undermined Eva's trust in him. And triggered very deep demons inside of Eva, which prompted Eva to fall into old destructive patters. Like slapping Gideon, pulling runners, turning to an old lover to get revenge. Corrine, of course, had no way of knowing the basis for Eva's awful insecurity problem. All Corrine knew is that Eva did have a serious problem, and Corrine used it as a weapon.

Even if Gideon does the decent thing of letting Corrine down gently as he can as soon as it's safe for him to do so, still Corrine is going to come out of this situation devastated. Gideon's actions led her to believe she'd succeeded in winning him back. He even let the whole world believe it. I'm willing to bet, too, he's been brutally manipulating her ever since he became chief suspect in Nathan's killing. The week before, he was taking her out as a friend. Now he's got her believing she's his girlfriend. They may not be sleeping together yet, but they are a couple once again. When what's really going to happen is Gideon is going to reject her for Eva. Years ago, Corrine had walked away voluntarily. This time she's going to get rejected -- and thrown out of Gideon's life forever. She won't even have friendship left. She bet it all, and she's going to lose it all.

I can understand that Corrine is going to be left with nothing and that will probably hurt her and yes she hurt Gideon when she left him and got married but Gideon will have to tread carefully there as she could be another Woman Scorned if he does things the wrong way.

He has manipulated Eva's feelings for a long time really since meeting with her and I think he is that kind of guy who likes control in everything but it may have worked with previous relationships but I don't believed he thought for one moment that Eva would slap him or walk out on him or even dump him like she did at the time of the murder and he was in the police station.  I think he got a real shock there and even a taste of his own medicine to feel the amount of pain it caused him with Eva saying she was done, just like the pain he is causing her.

Gideon needs to be very careful if he wants to win Eva back, it cannot be all about the sex, there has to be some opening up as well on his side, he needs to talk to her more and not control her as he does and not take her for a silly girl that does not have the knowledge to deal with things, like Eva has staid time and time again "she is stronger than everyone thinks!", yes she has been through a lot and I think that has helped.

I was bulled emotionally and physically when I was young by my brother and I know how it strengthens you so that it never happens again so I am hoping Eva will still grow in strength and Gideon will see this but it will also take note that he cannot manipulate her anymore and he needs to be honest and talk to her not keep shutting her out as if he keeps doing that he will lose her forever.

    my thoughts .............

  19. Hi GiGi,

I don't think Gideon would have done that. Again that's just my opinion. I think Gideon was up front about needing someone to go to social events with him (God forbid he show up stag... grrr... I know that wasn't Corrine's only purpose) and Corrine of course happily agreed because she thinks she is "in love" with him. Of course she is hoping this turns into more, but Gideon is never allowing that to happen. Corrine is never going to admit to anyone that she and Gideon are just friends because she doesn't want to even accept that herself. I do think Gideon will cut her off eventually because she has been a b**** to Eva, and she is always going to be a problem for Eva. Do I blame Corrine for being a b**** and doing whatever it takes to have Gideon Cross... nope. I would probably do the same thing. At the same time I realize actions have consequences. Corrine acting in such a way will ensure that Gideon can never even have a friendship with her. I feel bad for Corrine because she believes she loves Gideon (she doesn't really "know" Gideon so I'm not sure that is even possible IMO) and realizing she will never have a chance with him is going to leave her broken. I don't want to see her shattered, but she has brought some of this upon herself.

    Hi Kirsten

I don't think Gideon will be cruel to Corrine, she has afterall been his aliby and he must appreciate that, I do think though he probably made it clear to Corrine at the beginning that nothing will really happen in the relationship like Marriage as he would probably said to her he does not want that and I actually think he has probably made it clear that he does not a sexual relationship with her either.

I also think that Corrine knows this that is why when Eva turned up at Corrine's flat and Corrine was all mussed up Corrine had another man in the appartment but tried to make Eva think it was Gideon, even though we all know Gideon would not cheat on Eva.

  20. morning.

From the public's point of view, there is no Eva and Gideon. After Nathan turned up Gideon did all he can and sometimes failed to give the impression they broke up, to protect Eva from Nathan. Gideon needed some breathing space to eliminate Nathan.

Both Eva and Gideon were doing a good job at sabotaging their own relationship.

Until they become an item again, they have an uphill battle, Cary is batting for Brett, Corrine-well we all know what we think of her. To add fuel to the fire, we now have yet another brunette crawling out the woodwork! possibly in cahoots with Lucas. Perhaps a desert island for Eva and Gideon might be a good. idea!Angus is their rock at the moment. He awesome!

I agree with you Julie about Angus, he is a gem.

A desert Island would be great for them.

Although Cary is batting for Brett I think he knows deep down what a negative influence that relationship was to Eva's well being and that although he has reservations on Gideon, Cary would not want Eva in another f****d up relationship as was with Brett.  I think Cary likes it when Eva is happy with Gideon but does not like the nightmare side of Gideon and I think Eva has to prove to Cary that she knows why the nightmares happen and that she can deal with them and then Cary will be happier for her, still very cautious but happy if she is happy.

I just wonder now as the book progresses as to what the Lawyers say to Gideon and how they now get their relationship back on course and deal with the reporter, Corrine and the Vidal family as you just know that the Idiot Chris Jnr is up to something to try and either get Eva or to destroy Gideon.

Happy Wednesday everyone, nearly the end of the week, making it another week closer to the release of EWY  :)
