  1. Hi sylvia is captivated by you was coming out before aftershock as you said it was the next book to come out and it is only 5 day to go until aftershock comes out

I'm not sure where you read this, but I'm guessing you confused "next up" or something similar to "next out," which is totally understandable. The order of things on my plate is not necessarily the order in which you receive books. Since I work with so many publishers, each of which has their own in-house production schedule, some projects are finished first for me, but come out later for you.

There's no way CBY will be sprung on readers with only a few days notice. A few weeks notice, yes, but not days. I promise to tell everyone as soon as a firm date is set. I haven't announced a date because there isn't one yet, although I am hoping that we'll be announcing one very, very soon.

  2. SPELLBOUND isn't attached to any of my other series, no. Also, the three stories in SPELLBOUND were not all previously published. "A Familiar Kind of Magic" was previously published in ALLURING TALES: AWAKEN THE FANTASY and "That Old Black Magic" was previously published in ALLURING TALES: HOT HOLIDAY NIGHTS. "Black Magic Woman" is brand new and has never been published anywhere at any time and is only available as part of SPELLBOUND.

    Hope this helps!

    Sylvia

  3. hi sylvia so please could you tell me why the May date has been put out there I am only going on what the people on the web has said

The May date rumor started because Amazon UK had a preorder up for CBY, that was then copied by some foreign bookseller websites. This error was overseas only and never affected any US booksellers or e-tailers. The UK preorder was an error and was quickly removed (Penguin UK released a statement here: http://po.st/l3RuYS explaining).

AFTERBURN and AFTERSHOCK are published by Harlequin in conjunction with Cosmopolitan magazine. They have a completely separate distribution and order fullfillment process, but they face the same issue all my traditional publishers do--booksellers don't want my ebooks to release before the paperbacks. Therefore, if the publisher has to move the paperback release date for any reason, they have to move the ebook, too. Moving forward, my publishers aren't placing my books up for preorder until the paperback release date is immovable and set in stone, so that there's no chance of the release being moved. This couldn't be worked out with Harlequin.

I've said this before, but I'll say it again... It's impossible to compare the releases of my books to other authors, unless you're looking at authors like Dan Brown and George R. R. Martin--authors who don't have preorders for their next books available until a few weeks before the book comes out. It's a major endeavor for a publisher and retailers to get over a million books out on shelves on a single day. No one wants what happened with REFLECTED IN YOU (which sold out before noon on the day of release) to happen again. If you think it's frustrating waiting for a release date, imagine how frustrating it is when the release date comes and every store you visit is sold out of the book and you have to wait another week for them to restock. Those who read ebooks don't have this worry, but I have a lot of paperback readers who buy their books in stores and they want the books on time, too.

I know it seems like nothing is happening, but trust me... things are happening; I'm just not at liberty to discuss a lot of it. All the various pieces are being put into place so that the "reveal" has no missing or moveable parts. (This goes for the TV show, too, which is a completely separate thing from the books--the timeline of one is in no way dependent on the other.) I'm really looking forward to the day when announcements are made!

  4. Hi all sylvia promised to have CBY out by the end of this year I really think this is unfair we get told that it would be out by the end of the year and now it is May then we get told aftershock was coming out on 12th nov then that gets pushed back until March then before that entwined get put back what is the ###### is going on I am really getting ###### of this that means 11months to wait for a book when karin tabke get her set of four books out in a matter of months this is really bad publishing

I'm getting really frustrated that this May date is being tossed around as fact, when at this point in time the release date for CBY has not be set. It has never been set. There's never even been a tenative date set. And I've been very clear that until a date is officially announced, there is no release date for CBY, so it's extremely unfair to complain above moving dates with CBY when there's never been a date to move.

As for Karin Tabke, who is my best friend, she is digital self-publishing novellas, which is a very different animal than traditional publishing, which has a print and print distribution component.

  5. True or not I only wish to say that if I was the publisher I would probably delay and delay because in the meantime I would sell so many other books from Sylvia to all the desperate CRossfire fans that are waiting.

Ah, but you're assuming that the publisher of Crossfire is the one who is selling all of my other books and is therefore making so much money NOT selling Crossfire that they're not motivated to release CBY... yet. This is totally incorrect.

    - The Dream Guardians series and SPELLBOUND are sold by HarperCollins

    - The Marked series is sold by Macmillan

    - The historicals are sold by Kensington

    - AFTERBURN and AFTERSHOCK are sold by Harlequin

    - The Renegade Angels are sold by New American Library (a division of Penguin Random House)

    - Crossfire and the Shadow Stalkers are sold by Berkley (another division of Penguin Random House)

Some authors have one publisher. I've had twelve publishers in the United States alone.

Please... I know it's frustrating waiting on a book. Two of my favorite series release ONE book a year and I've been following them for several years now. I know what it's like to want a next installment NOW. But try not to assume the worst possible motives of my publishers and myself. Thank you.

  6. Just a quick explanantion about the boards...

This thread is for CAPTIVATED BY YOU, so recent posts regarding AFTERSHOCK were moved to the AFTERSHOCK forum and thread. There were also some birthday wishes that were posted that the admin moved to a new birthday wishes thread in the general forum.

It's important that we keep the threads focused on the topics and not run together so that it's easy for members to follow along and to subscribe to those topics that are of interest to them, while avoiding being flooded with notifications for subjects/topics they didn't subscribe to.

When you visit the board, you can click on "View New Content" on the upper right hand corner to see what threads are active and what new topics have recently been added. If it's helpful, I can have my admin write up some quick tips for how to navigate the boards and get the most out of them.

    Thank you!
    Sylvia

  7. I'm very sorry to say that the release date for AFTERSHOCK has been moved out into 2014. At this time, I don't know which month or day. I'll let you know as soon as I hear from the publisher.

SPELLBOUND is locked into a December 3 release date and won't be moving.

I know how frustrating this is, believe me. This is why I've insisted that no release date be announced for CAPTIVATED BY YOU until it's set in stone.

  8. I have the third book in the GABRIEL series on preorder for 9 months.  The release date for about 4 others are out there from other authors including the newest KGI book.

I know it's frustrating not being able to preorder, but it's impossible to compare the handling of Crossfire to any other romance series. It's a massive undertaking releasing a book with the level of demand Crossfire has, not just for the publisher, printer, distributors, and vendors but also for me. We're all doing the best we can and I can assure you, the publisher is eager to get the book out as soon as possible. Crossfire is presently one of the biggest series in the world. They don't want to sit on it any longer than they absolutely have to.

  9. Sylvia just posted about Seven Years To Sin releasing in paperback.....maybe that's what this book is ? :( It was a very good book tho

I think there's some confusion. This isn't a book, it's a name badge and lanyard from a convention I attended (you can see the silver hook that connects the neck rope at the top of the image). This is just a simple, "Have a nice weekend!" image, with no hidden meaning or tease about it. :)

  10. I know Bared to You will be released as a hardcover edition in February of next year.  Are there plans for a hardcover box set of all five books?

Also are plans in place for Jill Redfield to narrate the last two books in the series?  Jill is excellent and I like the continuity of the same person reading a series.

    PS

Thanks for answering my previous question!

As of now, it's planned to release all the Crossfire novels in hardcover collector's editions. I'm not sure if there will be a boxed set of them, though. I'll ask!

As for Jill, yes I had it put in the contract that all best efforts will be made to secure Jill as the narrator of all Crossfire books. :)

  11. Someone tweeted to Sylvia that they couldn't stand the wait until May 2014 for the next book and she tweeted back that it certainly wasn't going to be May 2014 and to please stop spreading rumors. LOL!!

    Hiya.

I noticed on amazon that they published a date of 8th may 2014 for the release date. I mentioned it to Sheena. She asked Sylvia who said it was wrong. Next day the book had been removed. Someone screwed up on amazon UK.

I nearly died when I saw that date! I was like noooooooooo!

    Am breathing again now. Phew!

But I didn't write it on here. :)

Yes, the AmazonUK posting was some weird glitch that I'm still confused about. How does something like that happen? In any case, here's Penguin's statement on the matter: http://po.st/l3RuYS

  12. I'm posting this here at the community a full day before I post it anywhere else! :)

Now the #1 international bestselling author returns.
The new Crossfire novel by Sylvia Day

Gideon calls me his angel, but he’s the miracle in my life. My gorgeous, wounded warrior, so determined to slay my demons while refusing to face his own.

The vows we'd exchanged should have bound us tighter than blood and flesh. Instead they opened old wounds, exposed pain and insecurities, and lured bitter enemies out of the shadows. I felt him slipping from my grasp, my greatest fears becoming my reality, my love tested in ways I wasn’t sure I was strong enough to bear.

At the brightest time in our lives, the darkness of his past encroached and threatened everything we’d worked so hard for. We faced a terrible choice: the familiar safety of the lives we’d had before each other or the fight for a future that suddenly seemed an impossible and hopeless dream…

Still no release date to announce yet. I know that's terribly frustrating, but things are moving along briskly on the back end! I'll let you all know info as I have it.

    Happy Tuesday!
