Bared To You, has just been nominated for an award.
Think we all agree on these pages that you are no.1 in our eyes.
Where can we vote?
Congratulations Sylvia.
Thank you! But there's no voting. There is a panel of judges who decide the winning novel.

Prisoners always seem to find out about pedophiles and rapists in prison.
Nathan wasn't a pedophile. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pedophilia He was twelve when he began his attacks on a ten year old Eva and the abuse ended when Eva was fourteen and he was sixteen. He was a very sick, disturbed monster of a child who grew up into a horror of a man.
Since he was previously committed for psychiatric treatment, I think it might be likely that he'd be recommitted rather than incarcerated. The man wasn't sane and could very likely have been able to make that argument in a trial.

I sometimes wonder if they don't give Eva enough credit or whether somewhere deep down inside there isn't a small part of them, that wants to protect their good name.
Absolutely true on both points. Eva went from having no protection to having too much protection. Dealing with that is part of her journey. As for Gideon, he wants to do for her what wasn't done for him--or for her younger self--much the way some parents want to give their kids all the things they never had... often to the detriment of the children.
Gideon and Eva are very flawed and damaged people, who have irrational and fierce reactions to situations in their lives. They are also surrounded by other flawed and damaged people. They're slowly becoming stronger together, but they haven't been a couple very long and have just taken a few steps in the right direction.

Thanks for answering all our questions Sylvia.
Well, I'm not sure I'm really answering anything. I won't make excuses for the characters, they are who they are. But I know them pretty well and Gideon... he wants to do everything in his power to insulate Eva, to protect her and make her feel safe and loved.
Sylvia will Victor be taking another trip to NY in EWY?
You'll see Victor again!

Perhaps someone who has a legal background might want to join in on this discussion. Or perhaps Sylvia can clarify this point for us. I know that Canada and the US has different laws and approach situations differently but surely our two countries cannot be that different.
Neither Gideon, Monica, or Stanton would allow those photos to go through so many hands--authorities, prosecutors, jurists. Can you imagine what that would do to Eva? What that would do to Gideon to watch her live through being raped again in front of so many strangers, for all intents and purposes? Having her possibly having to testify again about what had been done to her?
I can't see any possibility of Gideon turning those photos over to anyone and putting Eva through that. It would kill him.

Is that what happens when you write a novel-----the characters "speak" to you?
I often say that I consider myself more of a narrator than a creator. I have no control over my characters or their stories. I just listen and try to type fast.

The next two books in the Marked Series. I found Eve of Warfare and Eve of Sin City as an ebook on amazon, but that the only place. I would love to read the next two novels. I am ADDICTED to these books. I read the first three quickly. They were so good.
You can find them in paperback here: www.amazon.com/dp/1468190458

Right now I'm working on Afterburn (August 15) and Aftershock (November 12). Then I'm going to finish up Black Magic Woman, A Lush Kiss of Surrender, and A Dark Kiss of Rapture. Then I'll work on A Taste of Seduction. Beyond that I have more historicals to write
Â
And through it all, I'll be working on Crossfire.

So Sylvia is saying murder was the only option open to our hero.
No, I'm trying to present facts as we know them, without coloring it with my opinion. Because it doesn't matter what *I* would do, only what Gideon does and thinks and feels.
Eva is unbearably precious to Gideon. She says he's lightning in the darkness, the most beautiful and dangerous part of a storm. For him, she's the candle in the window, the bright light that brings him out of the cold and into a place where he can let down his guard and find shelter. Due to the actions of his parents, Gideon has felt unloved and unloveable his whole life, until the day he followed a gorgeous blonde into the Crossfire and she saw right through him.
I'm sure Gideon can't imagine a life without Eva in it. That the thought of losing her and what she brings to his existence must be impossible for him to bear. I can feel his panic when she pulls away even a little bit, it's very close to terror. Without that light in the window, he'd be out in the cold storm alone once again.
“It’s killing me. Being without you. Missing you. I feel like my fucking sanity depends on you, Eva, and you want me to be happy about that?†- Gideon, Entwined with You (New Years Eve Teaser)
I think the question, "What would you do for the person you love?" can't encompass the things Gideon does for Eva, because he doesn't simply love her. She's the reason he breathes and gets through his day and looks forward to the future when he never did before. If I felt that way about someone, what would I do to keep them safe from a proven threat? I know what I'd do for my children is limitless.

I also have to ask; what about the household staff? Did none of them have a heart and try to help this girl? Did none of them hear Eva screaming or crying while Nathan was torturing and raping her? What about afterwards? Did they not see Eva crying or shaking? What was going on there? How did a bunch of adults justify that kind of situation in their minds? Was Eva's pain and suffering worth the paycheque they received every week?
"The servants had to know. The fact that they didn't say anything either told me they were scared, too. They were grown-ups and they didn't say a word. I was a child. What could I do if they wouldn't do anything?" - Eva, Bared to You
-
Given the serious nature of the crimes Nathan would be charged with, I don't think that he would be granted bail. I am also sure that no one would step up to post Nathan's bail either. So I know that Eva's safety would be assured. I also know that Nathan would most likely be convicted (especially if he had video taped and photographed himself brutally raping and torturing Eva as a child). Then he would be facing federal criminal charges as well. At the end of the day, I don't think that Nathan would be a free man much longer and he probably would be killed in prison when the prisoners find out about what he did. I think that would have been justice served.
Popping in to remind y'all that Nathan has already been tried and convicted for his crimes against Eva as a child.
"Nathan was lawfully punished. His father paid a large sum for damages. Justice was served." Eva, Bared to You
Nathan was a minor when he was convicted. Eva was fourteen when she had the miscarriage that revealed the abuse; Nathan was sixteen. Because of his age, he was sent to a mental health facility for incarceration.
Nathan killed Eva's cat, snapping its neck and leaving the carcass on her bed (Bared to You). Gideon knew this, knew Nathan had already served his time, and he knew Nathan was responsible for the brutal attack on Cary.
"Jesus Christ. He wasn't just fucked up, he was insane. And he was touching you... Eva." - Gideon, Bared to You
Then Gideon actually had to see the pictures of what was done to her.
The only crime for which Nathan could have been prosecuted is Grand Larceny. Because the amount he was attempting to extort was 2.5 MIL from both Gideon and Stanton, it would have been Grand Larceny in the Second Degree (because it was an attempt to extort), which carries NO minimum prison sentence but could go as high as 5-15 years. Because Nathan was a juvenile when he was convicted for his crimes against Eva (and to protect Eva) his previous conviction was expunged (sealed). It could be counted as a strike against him, but it could also not be.
Just tossing that out there for the discussion...

Is there love story going to continue? This is my favorite story.
Â
The next story, A Taste of Seduction, is Syre's story and that will end the trilogy. But you'll see more of Adrian and Lindsay there. And since the Renegade Angels is part of my Dominion world (which includes the Marked series) you will also see them again as I write about the other castes of angels.

Hi Syliva,
I just wanted to wish you a belated Happy Birthday. I didn't know where to post this yesterday, so I finally plucked up the courage to start a thread. I hope you had a wonderful day!

Thank you!

Does anyone know when this will be released as should have been today?
It was my expectation that I'd be releasing a Raze and Kim novella in February. I tried to time it for when A Taste of Seduction was originally scheduled to release but I was ill for several weeks in December and January, and working hard on the production aspects of Entwined with You. It was my mistake announcing release dates for indie stories when in the midst of the Crossfire series. I was overly optimistic.
I'm apologize for your disappointment. I'm disappointed, too. It breaks my heart to let my readers down. As soon as the story has been shipped out to vendors, I'll post the news.

I'm hoping for the end of February / early March.

Gideon is Hebrew and means "Great Warrior." Or more literal translation, "He who cuts down/fells his enemies."
ÂThe name Gideon comes from the Hebrew verb (gada'), meaning to hew down or cut off. This verb usually shows up when conflicting convictions slug it out, and one party destroys the regalia of the other (Ezekiel 6:6). Or when a person, or a body gets expelled from the mother group (Judges 21:6) or gets cut down a size (Isaiah 10:33). Or even when an entity separates from a quality (Lamentations 2:3).
Â
HAW Theological Wordbook of the Old Testament doesn't often discuss the meaning of names but for Gideon it makes an exception: "His name is connected with his occupation, that is, he was a Hacker or One Who Hewed Down the enemy."
Â
Totally perfect for our Gideon, don't you think?

Knowing what Gideon is capable of - Why did Eva past scare him?
Because she has triggers. Gideon's very afraid that he'll accidently trigger her someday and drive a wedge between them that he can't overcome.

I cant view the Forum from my Ipad. :-(((
That's why I direct most people to this forum, since the one on Facebook doesn't work for mobile or tablet users. :)

1) Why does Gideon has more controlling interest in Vidal Records
2) The night that Gideon went to the party for the vodka release... how come Eva didn't know about it? Since she was working on that project how did her boss Mark keep that from her? Bit confused on that part
1) That's an EWY question.
2) Eva worked on the advertising campaign for Kingsman Vodka. The private reception wouldn't have been handled by the advertising agency.

Will you be doing the same for Siobhán and Trevor? Or will just include Adrian decision of their affair in Syre's story?
You'll see them next in Syre's story. :)

Entwined with You won't release in December. The New Year's Eve date was problematic and I didn't like it. While e-readers wouldn't have a problem getting the book, p-readers would. Stores close early on NYE and don't open at all the next day. Shipments are delayed. Because the staggered release of Reflected in You was disliked by so many, we're all determined that EWY release in all formats on the same day. In order to make sure that happens, the release date of EWY is fluid until I turn the book in.
So what I can confirm is:
1) EWY will not release in 2012
2) The paperback and ebook will release on the same day
3) The May preorder date isn't set in stone.
There may be a fourth book. Depends on how much I get wrapped up in EWY. I won't rush the book just to fit it into a trilogy, nor will I drag it out unnecessarily.
Hope this helps somewhat.

In chapter 8 when Eva comes into Gideon's home office and sits on his desk, she asks him
"What's new?". He says, "Everything." and "We'll get to that later.". What does he mean?
Once Gideon comes to understand that Eva really isn't going to run anymore (she chased after him that time), it changes his perception of everything about their relationship. It's changes the dynamic between them and how they'll move forward.

Deeper in You was the working title of Reflected in You, but it was changed because some merchants felt the title was too suggestive and they hesitated to put the book out for their customers. The publisher didn’t want to risk the book not being available in some stores, so the title was changed.
Bad Boys Ahoy was titled by the original editor. Vendors have long felt that the title was inappropriate for the book, suggesting a comedic story instead of sexy historical romance. (The cartoon cover was also widely disliked) When the publisher decided to repackage the book to better reflect its contents, it was felt the title should also be updated to address the complaints.
Hope this helps!
