Hi Jerseygurl, That has been a topic of much debate. How much did Christopher Jr. know about the abuse? Was he abused himself? Did he walk in on Gideon being abused? We don't get a clear answer on any of these questions thus far, but hopefully the next book should shed some more light on these issues concerning Christopher Jr. I too, want to know if he and his brother both had counseling sessions together or whether each boy was seen separately or whether Gideon was the only one who went to counseling. I think that there has to be a reason beyond sibiling rivalry to make Christopher Jr. act the way he has. Those are just my thoughts. What does everyone think? -

Hi GLH, It is clear that whom ever gets cast for the role of; Gideon or Christian, will have to be very talented actors! These men will have HUGE SHOES to fill because every woman has such high expectations in their heads about how these characters should look and act. In a way, I sort of feel sorry for both of these men....but then I think about the millions that these guys will be paid and of all the women who will be throwing themselves at these men at the premiers and then I think to myself...these guys will be just fine! :) -

Hi Sharon, I am not sure if we are saying the same thing but just in a different way. I agree completely that most killers start off by killing animals. I didn't know if Nathan would be able to pull off a threat of hurting Monica or whether Nathan might have used the tactic of "if you tell you mom, then I will tell them it was all your fault!" Or "if you tell your mom, then no one will believe you or everyone will think you are a liar". Those types of threats are usually quite effective with victims because most victims blame themselves for the abuse. So what do you think? Did I get it right or have I completely missed the mark? Your opinion is always appreciated. -

Hi Sharon, Oh my goodness. I just used the same argument but in a different way. I think that Richard Chamberlin was able to sell the role of the se*ual priest because the Hollywood Machine had already established him as a virile heterosexual male. He was never open about his se*uality until the 1990's. Up until then people may have suspected or few in the industry knew about his life, but the public persona was that he was all male....to be desired by women. I also think that it is a shame because Richard Chamberlin is a very, very, good actor! Do you think that Hollywood, back in the day, would have cast a very openly "gay" actor in such a role? Do you think that the public would have accepted him in those roles? When discussing Hollywood, it might be important to take into account social perceptions and social taboos back in the day (thirty, forty, fifty years ago, etc.). I think the entire issue of one's se*uality shouldn't bear any relevance to his/her's ability to portray a character one way or another. What a person does behind closed doors should remain there. In a way, if someone were to stop and think about it, basing employment decisions based on one's se*ual preference is a form of discrimination. What do you think? -

Hi Sharon, I keep thinking that we only have to wait a few more weeks before we will finally start getting our "snippets"! Yea!! Oh I can hardly wait!!  I personally don't think that Marty (or Mary as he is known to some at night ) is a bad character either. I think it has just been a little bit of fun letting the imaginations run wild.  As for Monica and Victor, when I sit and listen to your reasoning, it is completely plausible. I can picture the scenario the way you lay it out. You bring up a good point about Victor and Monica loving each other and knowing that they can't ever be together because they know somewhere deep inside of themselves that each isn't good for the other. I wonder if they will have enough strength or self-composure to walk that path. -

Hi Jerseygurl, Hopefully society is turning the tide on the whole se*uality issue, and we can get past it and just see some great acting from some wonderful thesbians. -

Hi Sharon, I have been thinking a lot about whole issue of sexuality and Hollywood over the past little while and I am not so sure that Hollywood has been all that tolerant of its' "stars". I think back over history and think to: Rock Hudson (no one knew that he was gay and the Hollywood machine never said a word. When he did that famous kiss with Lynda Evan on "Dynasty" people knew that he had AIDS. No one ever confirmed that he was gay (although many people knew and it was common-fact he was a "closeted-gay male"). Richard Chamerlin was also gay and Hollywood also did a lot of media and press surrounding his masculinity and up until the 1990's had given the impression that he was "straight". The Movie Studio also supported those claims by having him photographed with a bevy of beautiful women in one Hollywood magazine or other. He was never publically photographed with any of his male lovers during those days because it would have been a financial disaster for the movie studios. Droves of women were flocking the cinemas (and dragging out their husbands and boyfriends) to see one of his movies.   In the movie the "The Thorn Birds" he played a very sexual male priest who ended up falling in love with "Maggie" (I could be wrong about the name-sorry). The entire movie premise was based on Richard Chamberlin being able to portray himself as a virile "sexual" but celibate priest, which he did really well. I am not sure that given the time, the little known information about being "gay" or about the advent of the "AIDS" revolution that the studio would have had a different view on the subject. I think that thirty years has helped to mellow the persona of Hollywood but I am not sure how accepting Hollywood is of the lifestyle other than what can said lifestyle provide to the industry (i.e. how can the Movie Studio use an actor's sexuality to their advantage and how much money can be made by doing so.  If one uses Angelina Jolie as an example, she has been very open about her sexuality and her curiosity in exploring different facets of said life, but she has also used and marketed that to her advantage or should I say that the movie industry has marketed that to their advantage. They have been able to market a range of very strong, feminine, sexual characters because that's who she is in part. Movies like Mr. & Mrs. Smith & GiGi (both strong sexual roles for heterosexual and bi-sexual characters) are only two of many roles that Angelina has played very well. Could a person see someone like Ellen for example fulfilling those types of roles? Or what about Anna Paquin? She has stated that she is bi-sexual?    I wonder if we as a society have advanced to a point where sexuality doesn't matter any longer? I wonder if people and industries are afraid of lawsuits and public upset so the industry chooses the path of political correctness instead. Being politically correct will ensure revenues at the box offices. Open dislike or intollerance generates zero dollars. Those are just a few of my thoughts. What do you think? What does everyone think? -

Hi Ladies, Have you ladies ever read a book (or series of books) and found the storyline so compelling that any other book which might have a similar format doesn't quite measure up? Basically I am asking; once you ladies read a great book(s), do you ever find yourselves comparing said book to the one(s) you absolutely love? What does everyone think? -

Hi Jerseygurl, What about Neil Patrick Harris? He is gay and plays a "straight" man on a TV show, quite well I think but I can see how many in Hollywood might not be able get past their perceptions of "gay" and "straight".  -
