Entwined - A Chapter A Day Discussion (contains spoilers)
GiGi replied to LN Cronan's topic in The Crossfire Saga
Hi Julie, It is so interesting because I was wondering just a little bit if Jean Francois was making a snide comment to Eva about the fact that maybe his wife was the one who set the standard for all other women. I didn't really read anything into his blonde hair comment other than the fact that perhaps Corinne may have made comments to him over the years about how he only dated brunettes (which I could have potentially seen if they were fighting and maybe she said somethiing nasty to her husband in retaliaton for something else said).  I also wondered if maybe Jean Francois had a bit of a "chip" on his shoulder because of he fact that he would also always be the second choice. He would never be Corinne's first choice.   It could be a horrible way to live. Somehow Jean Francois doesn't necessarily seem like the confident or secure man in the world.  What do you think? What does everyone think? -

Hi Gabri, I agree. I think that Eva took a huge risk by introducing that se**al experience. You are also correct (from my understanding of the passage) that Eva forced Gideon into that act. It could have backfired. I am just so glad that it seems like Gideon was somehow set free from some of the memories by replacing it with an intensly pleasurable experience. What does everyone think? -

Hi Barb, I don’t think that Gideon enjoys an*l play per say (i.e. I don’t think that it was part of his repertoire). I think that Eva did for Gideon, what Gideon did for Eva. He gave her back a part of her body that had always only known pain. I think that Eva did the same for Gideon. She massaged his prostate (which can be very pleasurable for some men) in hopes that he would experience and associate something pleasurable with his rectum that had previously only ever had forced painful experiences.  I don’t think that Gideon’s dreams would have indicated that he would enjoy an*l play in the least. I think that if anything, Eva saw that Gideon had serious issues because of the fact that he was raped (sodomized).  When Gideon introduced an*l play into their relationship, it was because Eva asked him to erase Nathan’s touch. Eva actually put Gideon’s hand on her an*s. Gideon never put Eva’s hand over that part of his part anatomy.  I think that Eva tried to give Gideon a part of his body back (that had been scarred and stolen from him emotionally), but she did it at great risk. It could have backfired on her in the worst way. I think that Eva didn’t give Gideon a chance to process everything that was going on.  Eva wasn’t just massaging his prostate but; she was also performing oral se* on him, in conjunction with gently kneading his testicles. I think that whatever reservations that Gideon may have had (about the se* act); Eva put him on sensory overload (so the only thing that Gideon could do was feel).   I think that was confirmed when Gideon cried after making love.   Barb, you mentioned that Gideon might have indicated that he might like an*l play from his dreams. Could you please tell me what part of the book (what page) that was in. After reading the book, I didn't get that at all. Maybe I missed something. Thanks in advance. What do you think? What does everyone think? -

I wonder how many of those people would actually break the law for their clients? I guess it would depend on what the circumstances were for them breaking the law. The subject is really interesting though, none the less. Thanks for your perspective. I appreciate it.  -

Hi Jennpenn, It could very well be. One never knows with Cary. I hope he did notice the ring on Gideon's finger. I also hope he asks Eva about the ring too. I think it could make for some really interesting dialogue. -

Hi Julie, I just wonder why Jean Francois would say something like that. I could see all of the other women; his mother, Magdalene, etc. thinking that brunettes were his preference but where would Jean Francois get that idea? What do you think? -

Hi Claudine, That was my experience too. I found the historical context of that novel I tried, unrealistic. That's why the dialogue didn't really flow for me. I couldn't imagine how someone might include naughty chat while remaining true to the period/era. What would that man be saying to his love interest: "Wench You must Mount my Steed at once (i.e. his naughty pole)!! I just couldn't wrap my head around the dialogue. I will check out Sylvia Day's website and read some of the excerpts. Maybe a different author might make all the difference. Thanks for the suggestion. P.S. If I wanted a book that was a thousand pages long, all I would have to do is pick up Leo Tolstoy. Trust me, there is nothing romantic about that man's writing. -

Hi Everyone, After reading chapter 18, Eva realizes that her mom is hiding a secret.   Monica blew off Eva in a really clever way, by telling her that they would discuss things when Eva was no longer upset. With Monica’s constant missteps when would Eva ever not be upset with her mother? This was the most intense sexual encounter that both Eva and Gideon have had (in my opinion). Eva is really bold in taking the lead and in initiating a se**al experience for Gideon that may backfire on her. Thus far, Gideon never really opened up to Eva about what other types of se**al experiences he might or might not like because of his past.  It felt like Eva was walking a tightrope throughout the scene and I could literally feel her tension as she tried to navigate a positive experience for Gideon.  Gideon also ramped up the se**al experience for Eva by introducing bondage into their relationship.  It was also really interesting to see the two different communication styles that these two have in the bedroom. Gideon always talks to Eva, explains to her what is going to happen during a scene whereas Eva showed Gideon the lotion and then began to navigate his body (i.e. leading him into a new and potentially traumatizing se***l experience). She also didn’t stop when Gideon begged her to at one point which was also really interesting. It makes me wonder whether Gideon might need a safe word as well.  The best line in the chapter was really a narrative: Gideon shot me a look that said, Well? Run along now.  (Perfect!! )  What does everyone think? -

Hi Barb, It certainly looks like a nice airplane (or maybe a jet). It just looks a little small. Where would the bedroom be exactly? -

Hi Gabri, I agree sister! Maybe Eva could have stuffed a role in Brett's mouth when he started with all that naughty chat. I still think Brett needs a good smack across the chops for his behaviour!!  I think that Monica cheated on Stanton because she is not in love with him. She may love him for what he has done for Eva and her, but that is an appreciative kind of love or admiration. I am so glad that Eva is starting to act like a daughter with her mother and is forcing her mother to start acting like a mother and not like a friend.  I liked Arnoldo too! II think that the jury is still out on the Jean Francois deal. He makes a great pathetic French man but I have to wonder how he treated Corinne during their marriage and whether he might be getting some form of payback now. Thanks for the chat. -

Hi Julie, I had a few more questions if that’s ok. I can’t quite connect the dots. Here we go: How did Nathan wind up on Clancy’s radar? Is it when Monica and Clancy saw Nathan outside of the Crossfire Building? Was that the first either of them knew of Nathan’s whereabouts?  How did Clancy know that Nathan had beaten Cary? Was he tailing Nathan? Did he witness the beating in your opinion?  Where is Monica going to come up with the two million dollars without leaving a paper trail? Did she/Stanton have two million dollars in a safety deposit box or in a home safe?  Did anyone see Monica enter the hotel? How did Monica get into the hotel without anyone noticing Monica? She is a very attractive woman and I think that if she walked into a hotel, people would notice.  If Monica paid off Nathan, then why wasn’t the money found with the body or in the hotel room? Who took the money?  If Clancy did take the bracelet, then why wouldn’t he have taken the money from Nathan? Wouldn’t two million dollars make the police suspicious? The police would surely find out that Nathan had approached Gideon and Monica/Stanton with his blackmail demands. Why do all of that (take a bracelet and photos of Eva and plant them on another body) and leave a big huge clue like a two million dollar payout for the police to follow?  How would Clancy know where the other mob guys’ body was and how would he gain access to that crime scene without being detected by either surveillance or cameras or witnesses? When would the mob guys’ murder have occurred? How would Clancy know about that murder?    Thanks for taking the time to explain your theory. It really helps me to understand your postings.  -
Hi Rogue, I read your statement and I can completely see where you are coming from. My suggestion of Gideon offering an explanation about why they broke up all those years ago would come from the fact that Gideon has had an opportunity to reflect on why he did what he did over the years and maybe he could put things in perspective for Corinne. I don’t think he has to go into great detail, just apologize.  I agree with you, that Gideon sending mixed messages to Corinne wouldn’t have made her mentally ill. I think that she was mentally ill long before she ever came to New York. I think that everything that happened in (perhaps being seen by Anne, purposely being given medications that caused her to have suicidal thoughts, etc.) New York exacerbated her condition.  You make a very clear and compelling case of a woman who deluded herself and that also most likely fed into her mental illness. Now whether she was mentally ill and then she deluded herself, I don’t know and I am not sure anyone can know. It is obvious that something happened all those ago that stuck with Corinne and created subsequent problems for her.  I hope that she gets help for it.  You are also completely correct in that Gideon shouldn’t continue to feel guilt over Corinne’s attempted suicide (or anyone else’s for that fact!). At the end of the day, Corinne is the one who swallowed that bottle of pills and suffered a miscarriage, not Gideon. No one forced her to swallow those pills. She did that all on her own.  You also make an incredibly good point about how Corinne handled her marriage. It is almost as if she couldn’t reconcile herself with the fact, that although her “dream†of marrying Gideon may not have come true, she has made a really nice life for herself with a nice guy (let’s hope JF is a nice guy), in spite of her breakup with Gideon.   At the end of the day, Corinne is responsible for herself. If Gideon can apologize and she will accept it, then he should. Above and beyond that Gideon doesn’t owe Corinne anything more. You are correct, Corinne’s issues are her own and she will have to face them. Now the medical system is involved and she won’t be able to manipulate them; if this was all just a ruse, or she will finally start getting the help that she so desperately needed all these years.  Are we good now? Can we finally book Corinne a ticket back to France? Please say yes!  Thank you for the discussion.Â
-
Hi Sscrph, You are correct, Corinne may not want Gideon to see her like this. What human being would want another person to see them when they were scraping the bottome of the barrel? The only place where we differ is that Gideon needs to put a stop to this entire situation. Gideon created this situation and I think that Gideon needs to clean it up.  I don't see this storyline playing out for too much longer though. Where else would someone go with this? At some point the storyline loses it's validity and people get bored and maybe even p***d off. I hope Sylvia wraps this up quickly.Â

Hi Donna, I just wanted to add that for some kids who smoke pot wind up with schizophrenia or other severe mental illnesses. Researchers don't know why, but some kids who smoke marijuana are more susceptible to mental illness. Something in the brain gets affected or damaged somehow. They are doing research to try and figure out why that occurs. It really is very interesting research.Â
-
Hi Donna, I could say something cheeky but Claudine and I were just discussing some recent studies that were done on marijuana use and the incidence or occurence of mental illness in teenagers. I hope I didn't confuse you.Â
-
Hi Rogue, No worries. I didn't think you were grumpy. It's all good. Rest up lady and get plenty of rest! I hope you feel better soon! Â

Isn't that such an interesting statement though? Especially coming from someone who isn't even her family. I wonder just how far above and beyond the call of duty someone would go before stepping back and saying "this is too much". I don't really know a lot about private security so I wouldn't know how often someone in that position would be asked to break the law.  I certainly would not commit a crime for anyone let alone for my employer! Then again maybe some other people would. From a lay person's perspective, it seems like a stretch, but thus far, it is potentially plausible. -

Do you think he will remember seeing a ring on Gideon's left hand or do you think that he may not have noticed at all because of what was going on? -
Hi Shan, Corinne went to Crossfire that day to see Gideon, but he was already in a meeting with Nathan. Sylvia confirmed this in earlier posting or tweet (several months ago) when some of her fans were asking. Â

Hi Sharon, Do you think it is possible that Angus may have noticed a distinct behavioural change in Gideon everytime he was supposed to have one of his therapy sessions that would have been different than a school tantrum or a fight with his mother? I was also thinking about something, thus far Elizabeth Vidal has come across as such a snarky two-faced individual, do you think that Elizabeth Vidal would have been comfortable to have the "help" spending so much time with her son? How much interference do you think Elizabeth Vidal would have tolerated from a chauffeur? What do you think? What does everyone think?

Hi Jennpenn, You make an interesting argument for your theory. It will all depend on how dedicated Clancy is to Monica and Eva. It almost seems like extra ordinary behaviour for someone who is supposed be doing bodyguard/chauffeuring duties. It is at this point, plausible because we have so little information.  Your theory requires a lot of dots to be connected, but I am open to ideas. We have very little to go on thus far. I wonder if Sylvia will give us a snippet or two to help us establish our theories a little more. I hope so.Â
