Could Nathan at some point after being hospitalise, have fooled the doctors into thinking he was "cured", been released for the whole cycle to start again?

Eva would never be able to live her life free of worry while Nathan was still breathing.

YES!! This does happen!

Nathan was a smart sociopath..

I definitely believe that he would have said all the right things and told the doctors what they wanted to hear---to make the doctors believe that he was no longer a danger to society.

To me-- what Gideon says and how he acts/reacts in RIY ----he murdered Nathan...

Also, SD --to me ---clearly indicated in her recent posts here that Gideon murdered Nathan...

 

I don't think people would buy EWY just to see if Gideon murdered Nathan....All they would have to do would be to wait a couple of days and come to this site/another SD site to find the answer.

 

People will buy EWY because of Eva and Gideon's love story---IMHO

I just wanted to add that I think that Sylvia has done a brilliant job in her writing of these books and of her writing this storyline.  She has made me care about Gideon and Eva and their lives.  I have cried for them, rejoiced for them, been outraged for them and am now grieving for them.  She has taken fictional characters and somehow made them very real.  For me, that is the mark of a great writer! Brava Cara Sylvia! Brava!

This is fascinating to me--- that  SD lets the characters "be who they are"...

I would have a hard time not putting in my point of view as to how the characters should act/react---- if I were writing a novel... 

"Why did Eva have to pin her mother down and tell her about Nathan and why on earth wasn't Monica forthcoming about what was going on even while Eva was telling her mother about what was going on?  I mean really?!  What possible excuse could Monica have for keeping all these secrets?!"

I can't seem to get into the head of Monica as to why she would act/react this way. Monica's way of thinking is not my way of thinking--LOL.

 

Eva is the more mature one in this relationship...

 

 

For curiosity's sake, I would like to be a trophy wife/socialite for one week to see what it feels like...LOL

I LOVE the idea of having the Crossfire series on HBO/Showtime!

I don't subscribe to either of them--but I would now!

 

I don't think you could squeeze the storyline of each book into  two hour movies.

To have an eight week one hour show for each book would be wonderful!

I could DVR them and then  watch them again and again and again...

Yes the journey Is fraught with many pitfalls, they need to move on and try to forget their past because it could destroy them if allowed.

I was thinking that Monica was VERY self-absorbed prior to her finding out about what Nathan did to Eva which is probably why she didn't recognize changes in Eva's behavior.   I guess that she was early to mid thirties range around the time of the abuse?

 

I think that finding out what happened to Eva was a sentinel moment for Monica-- a wake-up call as to her failings as a  mother/person.

 

I think that this series is a love story but also it is a story about redemption----no matter what failings/sins they had done in the past---they can turn their life around and become better people.  I think that this series is a love story and it is a story  about the different character's journey to become better people.

I'm thinking that the household staff were immigrants and they were probably scared that if they said anything their families would be harmed and/or that they would be sent back to their former country?

I take no offense when someone posts an opinion different than mine!!  It is great to hear different points of view!

OMG!!  I was not on this site for a couple of days and soo much has happened!

 

Gideon murdered Nathan and I understand why he did it.

*sigh* I wish he didn't murder Nathan but Gideon must have known "somehow" that Nathan was getting close to murdering Eva.

 

So many issues to be resolved-----I can see why it's going to take several books to resolve them...

 

I agree Nathan is going to be a thorn in Eva and Gideon's relationship .....*sigh*

Gideon says that saying "I love you" is the wrong words about how he feels for Eva.

What if he is saying his version of his feelings for her every time he whispers? He does it on at least 3 occasions, throughout both books.

I'm sure Sylvia said we would find out in EWY.

If the murder investigation goes away, what kind of storyline do you see happening with Gideon and Eva?

This time around, it's outside forces threatening to keep them apart rather than their own issues.

 

But they won't be really apart -- they'll just be underground.

So many loose ends to tie up....LOL!

Do you think that all of these forces will be wrapped up in two weeks???

Don't you think that is what has happened in RIY? All the angst they went through, so Eva could be safe.

Don't think my ol' heart could take another battering like it did in RIY. Lol

I believe that at some point in EWY there will be tension between Gideon and Eva, they will be separated --and it will be heart wrenching..
