I have tickets to an advanced screening on Wednesday.  I also read fifty shades prior to the Crossfire series.  I'll leave a brief review after the movie.

I am looking forward to Friday the 13 th also.....this wait is almost as bad as the wait we had for CBY and now for OWY!! Hope the movie lives up to the hype....looking forward to hearing/reading your review....

I read FSOG trilogy first then the Crossfire series, IMO the Crossfire series is more of a love story.

yes, that was it!! thanks for finding that! Ironically it was showing in the theater that will be showing the FSOG movie in my area in two weeks

today I went to the movies and while watching the trailers an advertisement/trailer aired about the Crossfire Series....I was so excited....but no mention of OWY.... the main theme was Captivated by You....especially Gideon Cross. Showed a man taking off his cuff links, watch, then his shirt!!!

Totally agree with all of this Shan; once again these would all be sexual encounters; in no way would these be termed "lovers." Eva is the only woman Gideon has Ever loved therefore his lover; I think I would even consider Corinne a sexual partner... What do you all think? Also in the next book I do not think we will ever truly address Gideon's sexual past in any more depth. His past is the past as is Eva's and they are both much more concerned with the future. The only way this would ever be revisited is if more of his crazy exes come out of the shadows to torment Eva... .

I agree, but what I find interesting is the fact that most of the women that Gideon has been with don't kiss and tell. I am sure they haven't signed a non-disclosure claim like in FSOG. Yes, Gideon has not always been forthcoming with the truth. He doesn't lie, but he seems to always leave something out. "ask me no questions and I will tell you no lies"

Doesn't look like it is going to be around the release of the FSOG movie....

I didn't think that it would be coming out then. Not enough time has elapsed, and not all countries have gotten their copy of CBY. I am hoping for maybe May or June at the latest. That would make it 6 months.

At least we have an idea of how old Gideon was when the abuse started and ended. He was about ten or eleven, because he said that Chris Jr was about 5 and that Ireland was on the way when therapy was suggested, so G was 12 or so when it ended. But we still need to know HOW the abused stopped and how it was stopped....my guess is on Angus finding out and putting an end to it.

Chapter 20 (sadly the last one)

Surprised that Monica still talks wedding and not why Eva and Cary have been staying there for 3 days.

Wednesday and Angus said last night was bad for Gideon. No wonder, last night was his therapy night and he finally told Dr. P about Hugh and his molestation. Wonder if Anne will get any backlash from the medical community after she was mentioned to Dr. P.?

Finally Eva got a clue about LanCorp and PhazeOne when Will said that they will probably lock her away until the release day. It is very fishy that LanCorp INSISTED that Mark head the campaign. Gideon was right after all.

Glad Eva came to the conclusion she couldn't work on the PhazeOne even if Mark stayed on. Wonder what LanCorp will do with this news?

Eva has 10 million dollars, maybe she can just head CrossRoads and make that work, she really wouln't be working FOR Gideon just with him.

Monica finally did get a clue and asked why Eva and Cary were really at her place. Eva really has mommy issues and doesn't want to be like her mother. She wants her independance.

Gideon's dream is still sad and I am glad that he is finally opening up to Eva and told her about the dream. Talking is always good and taking steps to work things out between them. Making a date after therapy is always good and also drinks later that week with Natalie and Will.

Loved it when she said " I am still made at you. "I know". and I am still in love with you. "Thank God". We'll figure it out the rest and get back on track".

That concludes all the chapters ;( we can always rehash some of the sticking points again. Wish we had a clue when OWY will be out. That title doesn't even show up on Sylviaday.com website under coming soon. Just some titles that have been on the back burner.

chapter 19

Gideon cooking is awesome!!!

Did Gideon make a mistake in trying to hire Mark? Boy, did he ever!!! Even if, in his mind, he had a good reason; trying to out manuever LanCorp for going after Eva. It is suspicious of LanCorp to want Mark (and of course Eva) when he has internal advertising, just like Cross Industries. Landon sunk a fortune into PhazeOne.

Gideon has been handling a lot these past few weeks: Brett, the sex tape, Chris, Chris Jr, therapy, Ireland, his mother, Anne, Corrine, Landon etc; but he should have included Eva. He needs to "stop protecting" her (as he says). Eva made a point in saying that Arash, Raul, Angus, Arnoldo know more about his business than she does. But I still think that Eva OVER REACTED!! by leaving Gideon.

Gideon's dream is so sad and horrible!!! Gideon texting I Love You is monumental, when he never liked saying it before, swore those words weren't enough. Happy when Eva finally texted back, I Love You, Too.

Dr. P is so good. He knows that G should have confided in Eva and to compromise being strong together to take turns carrying the load. Especally when they both know that Eva hates being last to know things and her relationship with her mother in that regard.

Then FINALLY the breakthrough!!! Gideon told Dr. P.....my therapist, he molested me. For nearly a year. He raped me :(

Chapter 18

I loved it when Eva describes the type of wedding Gideon would want. The exact one that they had earlier!!!

We know Monica's family is not invited to the wedding. They disowned Monica (as we know) and Eva doen't know anything about them.

Eva's thinking concerning Trey and Cary is right on. A difficult choice, but Trey has a right to be happy too, and not connected to someone who will be involved with someone else.

What is Anne Lucas up to?; other than trying to see Gideon again and to somehow hurt Eva? Loved it when Gideon said that he was married, planned to stay that way and that he doesn't cheat. So the resemblance between Anne and Hugh was the reason that G was really more twisted with Anne. She must have liked it, she always came back for more.

A "hung" Gideon and a swing....what more needs to be said? Eva is one lucky girl!!!

chapter 17

I wonder if the dress that Gideon got rid of was the one he bought Eva in BTY? Glad that G was upfront with Eva and told her right away about Corrine's tell all book. Nice also to hear the difference between how G felt about Eva compared to Corrine.

What does Corine want Gideon to remember about their relationship? Even if he did love her in a way, he stopped and was glad because he couldn't explain why he couldn't spend the entire night in their bed and how to explain the nightmares. Corrine feels she can only let him go by writing this tell all book, if she had cared so much, she wouldn't have gotten married, unless it was a ploy to get Gideon to come back to her. Boy did that backfire.

Yea, Gideon alot of people are coming out of the woodwork. Watch your back and Eva's.

Even Mark says that Eva will lose her job if he leaves. Doesn't seem fair to Eva. I am confused by this.

Glad that Arnoldo and Gideon sorta made up and their friendship is back on track.

Sparing with Eva, I feel, is a mistake. Somone could get hurt in more ways than one.

Yes I do think that Gideon has visited a sex club and maybe has even encountered Deanna there??? LOL!!

Gideon himself said that he only had consenual sex only at his hotel. Doubt seriously that Hugh could take him to a sex club, or maybe Hugh taught him stuff like that.

I would like to know where Monica and Eva lived when she was a baby. Were they in the San Diego area and when did Monica come to New York... when she married Stanton or before this...I'm thinking an aunt or other sympathetic family member took Monica and her baby into their home in those early years ... I hope these questions get answered in OWY.

I too want to know how Monica managed after her family disowned her. How old Eva was when Monica married husband #1, where they lived and how often Victor saw baby Eva, or did they not get together until she went off to college?

chapter 16

Dr. P seems to know his stuff I suppose; he seems to have a good sense of G and E. Gideon uses sex to quiet Eva and she wants/needs sex to be a connection and to mean something. (one of her sticking points at the beginning in BTY when G first came on to her) Gideon does shove everything that is bothering him away and tries to ignore them.

Eva made a good point that Cary always has someone over and she should have realized that Cary needed her, but she isn't a mind reader. Cary is like calling the kettle black, he can have relationships, but Eva needs to stay home and concentrate on him and not work on finding love herself. It is a shame that Cary can't tell Trey about the baby and Tat by himself, he needs to grow up and "a pair".

A pity that Gideon didn't/couldnt stay with Eva after waking her and making love to her during the night :(

I imagine a lot of possibilities.

Victor gets hurt so badly he's forced to retire and move to NY where Eva can look after him but it puts him too close to Monica.

Richard becomes very ill and learns of Monica's affair.

Victor gets rich from accident.

Monica gets pregnant.

Gideon buys Stanton's company.

Anne drugs Gideon and blackmails him with staged photos of them together.

Mark learns secrets about the Redhead receptionist.

And the murder weapon appears.

Can't wait to find out the real ending.

Sylvia would have to write a whole other novel to address all those scenarios...

chapter 15

Gideon being jealous is awesome usually it is Eva. Sad that Gideon thinks that Eva doesn't want him to father her children. Doubt that they really have had that conversation. They need to start COMMUNICATING. Still love it when G refers to E as his wife, when supposedly they are only engaged.

A shame that Cary is "cutting" again and blaming others because he is so stressed.

Gideon still denying that Chris believing him is bothering him and Eva calls him on it is good and G still harping on her working with him is starting to p*ss her off. He should realize that. Gideon hates his feeling of weakness; now that he has Eva I guess he was always cold hearted and ruthless with people.

Clancey confirms that he cleaned up the mess and put a dead suspect to take the blame of the killing of Nathan, pretty much giving G a "get out of jail free card". He said he did it for Eva and I guess he has evidence against G, so if G treats E badly that evidence will appear whether Clancey is dead or alive.

Dissappointed that Gideon is missing his former life before Eva, seems sometimes he misses the simplicity.

Deanna is a b*tch and still wants Gideon, but at least she brought news about Corrine and her tell all book.

Gideon has had a rough couple of days

IMO....Gideon hasn't really been all that truthful with Eva. He hasn't really lied to her persay, but....in BTY he said that he has had more sex with Eva in the past weeks than he has had in a long time, but when Dr. P asks about his sexual encounters he replys maybe once a twice a week on average ???? but then he explains the difference to Eva at the beach house, since he said he always didn't use his d**k. He also said that he didn't mastu***te, then said that he used to ge* of* in the shower every morning before he met Eva.....what is he thinking? Oh well, maybe he looked up stuff on line to find out or maybe Hugh showed him the way.

Chapter 14

Was a reminder of the horrible limo drive to NC in RIY. Didn't understand why he wanted to punish Eva. He blames her by saying "you did this!! You brought this on. Pushing people...pushing me. Look what you've done"

Gideon did try to explain "you need to let me settle and you need to mellow out. We go at it like this, we'll tear each other apart".

Don't really understand why Eva needs him in control, and why Gideon needs to be in control when he is with her. Guessing that he didn't have control in his abuse years, so he demands it now.

Really love Angus. Glad Chris Sr called to check on Gideon. Happy that they are buying the Outer Banks house. Learned the significance of the pen on the cover. Glad that Eva finally took a day off from work to take care of Gideon and their relationship. She has never taken a full day off even when her Dad has visited, only when Cary was in the hospital the first night back or that Monday.

Overall a very INTENSE chapter.

Hmmm, I just mentioned that as a theory in the chapter discussion.... I find Anne unpredictable and disturbed, and would not be surprised if she tried to take revenge of her brothers suicide. If G (who is less disturbed) could exploit Anne to get to her husband and partially punish Hugh by using Anne, why couldn't she do the opposite? Their se*ual relationship was based on SMBD, or have I misunderstood something? In that way G could have punished Hugh by using Anne, since he saw Hugh in her?!?

Unfortunately we really don't know the time line of when the abuse started/stopped or even HOW it stopped. We don't know how old Gideon was when he threatened Hugh...he must have had some $$$ if he said he would put an unlimited fund towards the prosecution of Hugh if he molested another child... We also don't know how long ago he had the "sorta" affair with Anne. Doubt seriously that Anne knows about the abuse or the threat that Gideon made to Hugh or even if Hugh was even alive when G was with Anne...but what do I know. Only Sylvia.

Chapter 13

Chris Sr saying "you're a good man, one of the best. I should have told you more often" was nice to hear.

At least now we know that it was Anne Lucas at the last event they went to at the end of EWY. Really sick to try to have sex with Cary, but he does that a lot remember BTY?

The scene bewteen Anne L and G was not nice to witness. I would hate to have her as a therapist. I wonder what "it is about time to pay and your billions won't cover the debt"; and the cost to her....the career and marriage.?

It is good that Dr. P is really trying to help Gideon even if he really doesn't want it.

Back at the penthouse and the scene with Chris Sr is heartbreaking. Glad to hear that he decked Terry Lucas and Chris saying "that you are not alone"; but unfortunately Gideon didn't take it well and lost it.

I  am  going to read the  book again  but never captivated me as  the other  3  books  had. But some points  posted her are  good so  I will take those into account  when reading again.

In my mind  I see the book  on par with the daily  life of a  soap  show.  And  isn't that is what Sylvia is  doing with the series?

The  time between the books  publication and  the actual  time of the story line is too far in between.IMO

As  said   I rated this  one of my favourites,  but  after reading "This Man"  that is  my favourite.

I loved  Burn series.  For  a short  story  we  found out a lot  regarding  the characters.   Love  Jax.   I look forward to the next one and hope it isn't  a  year  before it is released.

To the best of my knowledge, Afterburn and Aftershock are going to be the only two stories about Jax and Gia :(

I really enjoyed Chapter 12.

The shower scene and talk were really romantic.

You would think it would make a difference with LanCorp when someone working on their account is engaged to their chief rival. Alarms should have sounding for both Eva and Mark.

Glad Eva finally realized that she should have closed the door on Brett a long time ago. She should have never invited him up to the apartment in EWY and just said good bye to him in the limo. Can't believe that Brett expected a kiss/hug when they met for lunch. Eva had to tell him that she is MARRIED twice. Why bring up Gideon's past.? It is what it is the PAST. If Brett missed Eva so much why wait 4 years, and to say the other girl reminds him of Eva is just really LAME!! Brett showing the video to others was really low and to think that he thought that Eva wouldn't mind; it was probably his way of bragging.

Arash is still my favorite new character, he is such a hoot. Gideon being there at lunch to make sure Eva was fine was super. What a man, then they made the date that night for Eva to have her way with him....what a lucky girl.!!!

As I am re-listening to the book, a few questions came to me today and I wanted to bring them up.

 

-Why was Brett back in NY when he and Eva met at Bryant park?  Was it because of the re-shooting that needed to be done.  Eva realized that the band was on tour and in order for Brett to be in NY it had to be band related.

 

-Since Ann Lucas was not on the guest list the night of the party when she approached Eva, it was presummed that she was someone's plus one.  Do you think that there is any way that she would have been Elizabeth Vidal's guest that night?

 

-Why is Ann so mad at Gideon?  When he goes to her office to confront her, she just seems downright spiteful and full of hatred.  It can't be because of their relationship, because she didn't lose anything (namely her Husband) from it.  So what is her deal?

they are all good questions: Brett was meeting Eva to ask her about letting them (the band) and him to use some of the sex video to promote the song Golden. Of course she freaked out and couldn't believe that Brett would want to do something like that. Our Gideon was watching and came to her rescue!!!

I doubt seriously that Anne was Elizabeth's plus one, Elizabeth does have a husband, and unless Anne was her therapist while pregnant with Ireland, I don't think they know each other.

Why are all the women in Gideon's past so p**sed off with him?? Deanna is out for blood, Corrine is not too happy with him, and why Anne should hold a grudge after all these years, who knows. Unless she thought that Gideon really cared for her, remember she was getting ready to leave her husband for him and G said no way!!!

Chapter 11

Shame that Brett thinks that Eva is "blinded by G's billions and hiding the wedding" they are not really hiding it, but waiting to get married for the public and family to attend. He mustn't think too highly of her if he thinks she is in it only for the $$$, and that the marriage won't last.

Pity that Chris jr had a copy (that was wiped) on his work computer. We know CVJr has watched it, probably several times

Evening with Ireland is priceless. Book probably set in 2011/2012, because Channing Tatem was People's SMA about 2 years ago. I liked it when Ireland said "if you want happily ever after, she's sleeping down the hall".

How would women know if condoms were in the nightstand drawer, if he only went to the hotel and had one night stands? Still want to know what type of BC Eva uses, we don't really get any hints of what type, but apparently it has been effective, since he does take her 3-4 times daily.

Gideon really does need to start sharing with Eva even the bad parts that might distress her. Eva is right about pushing bad things inside in a place where he doesn't have to deal with it.

Two questions....

How soundproof can a limo really be? (what Angus must hear lol)

And what did E need her phone for (curious)?

I had totally forgotten about that last sentence in chapter 10....never gave it another thought, it went on to Gideon's POV and was never mentioned again. So, I agree with the others, she probably tracked his phone.....good thing he did go to the office!!

Don't remember, does Manuel work for G or is he just a friend?
Loved that the group cheered when Eva got on stag. Brave is a good choice, but F*cking Perfect would have been better IMO. Arash is a hoot saying "your turn lover boy" to G. Gideon saying this is for my wife was great and his song selection was too. Who knew that G could sing?! Hated when Eva kept thinking of Brett and comparing the two. Really?! Too bad also when she reverted back to the way she acted with Brett with Gideon in the limo with giving him a BJ and then wanting to ride him. Even  though that is what happened on their first date, except for the BJ of course.

Gideon saying I Love You back to Eva was major!!

Cary could have been a little more grateful about the apartment; "thanks for the pity f*ck to G was uncalled for, but G's reply was best "there is neither pity nor f**king included in the offer, otherwise you're welcome"

At least Eva admitted she was stubborn about wanting to work with Gideon, especially at the Crossroads Foundation.

At the end of chapter Gideon was "ready to throw down"!!!

I still don't understand ....if Mark G. leaves why does Eva lose her job? Couldn't she be the assistant to the new Jr. Accounts Manager? Someone has to take his place and I don't see a problem with Eva being that person's assistant....
