This is a good point Gabri about the ignorance because if you think about it at the time there was probably a lot of hostility between Eva and Nathan and maybe they were both exhibiting behavior problems at home and at school and Monica was simply at a loss for what To do. Whenever there are problems in the home they always carry over into school. That is the first thing a teacher asks at a parent conference. Yes there were signs,HUGE signs but either Monica chose to ignore them or pleaded ignorance as you say because I think she had /has absolutely no innate mothering skills and simply was completely out of her depth.

I think the best thing Monica can do for Eva at this point is stow the guilt and move on. Monica's guilt makes Eva feel guilty for her mom having guilt. At the end of the day it really is all about Monica so she just needs to suck it up and move on like Eva is trying to do!!

As I reread the books again I am always struck by that helpless yearning that Eva describes in Gideon's eyes throughout the book. He so wants a normal life for himself with this beyond beautiful , generous woman that he describes as the other half of himself but there always seems to be something getting in the way of his HEA. Whether its the specter of Nathan, or his own abuse, his parasomnia, his enemies, his exes, and now the murder investigation. Someone had posted earlier that they were surprised he is still sane and I second that motion. I just want to see Gideon relaxed and happy and at peace with himself maybe by Book 5...

There is a picture of a Bentley on Sylvia's Facebook feed that says 2 days until EWY Chapter 1 LOL as if we needed a reminder!!

I feel sorry for any journalist who attempts to leak Eva's name or her story because Gideon will make good on his promise to destroy said career ...will our Eva ever be at peace...maybe she should have thought twice about dating a celebrity ...hopefully these two will have their happy ending with no regrets and no worries!!

Hi Julie your estimation of 400 times has me reeling...that being said yes Eva had to open that box for Dr. Travis and now for Gideon, hopefully that will be it and it will be closed forever. Eva has stated that Gideon is saving her and that is probably true and I'm sure she is doing the same for him is it any wonder he would kill for this woman...I hope in the series Gideon will be able to put his ordeal in a box too and lock it away forever.

A shiver runs through me every time I reread the passage of Eva telling Gideon her story. When he asks her how many times and she states that she lost count one can only imagine the horror that poor little girl lived through. Did Eva and Monica ever watch movies in bed and fall asleep together or did Monica go to soccer practices and ballet lessons or did she help Eva with home work and school projects--we have no way of knowing but little Eva must have been one heck of an actress to fool Monica for 4 years. She should have majored in theatre arts instead of advertising!! The simple fact is that Monica is/was CLUELESS and neglectful and Sylvia will have a hard time convincing some members of this board otherwise!!!

And that's why the next day he immediately went to Stanton demanding answers about where the Nathan was ....this too make me think about what exactly brought about the end to Gideon's abuse. In Eva's case she had the miscarriage and thus everything was out in the open but in Gideon's case could it have been when Elizabeth finally had Ireland that the shrink stopped coming to the house? How did his torment end. I hope we get the answer in Book 3...

Yes I totally agree with your interpretation...I have these same thoughts and I also wonder if Eva got a chance to know Victor's mom or if she was already deceased.

Oh if Corinne only knew how hot it is between Gideon and Eva in the bedroom or the car or even the hotel LOL but maybe it's a good thing she doesn't or she would never stop tryin to capture the incredible smokin hotness as Eva describes it...

LN your scenario has me thinking bout Gideon's abuser.....Did he meet the same fate as Nathan but at the hands of Angus ...now Gideon and Angus would both have something "on " each other to take to their graves ...I wonder if that question will ever be addressed by SD?

Has anyone really looked at the photo of Henry Cavill I mean really looked at it?? He IS Gideon--he has the cerulean blue eyes the hair over the collar the body and a beautiful smile so I hope Sylvia can snag him for the role because he is perfect!!
