When Monica was having lunch with Eva before they got married, she said to Eva, " and if your lucky, you'll never have anything happen that will drain you financially." Monica said it as if speaking from experience. Page 259.

That's a good point. So do you think Gideon asked for Mark again and Waters is just telling him they now don't want the Ariana account?

Eva and Mark work well together. I think this is Gideons plan to get Eva working for him, taking Mark as well. Gideon hasn't got where he is by taking no for an answer.

I keep wondering if Chris Sr. Is ever going to take part in the story. In the little we've seen of him he strikes me as being kind of beaten down or pus*sy whipped. (are sixty somethings allowed to use that kind of language?)

He does seem a quiet character. Gideon seems ok with him. But when Chris jnr is in the equation, Chris snr won't take sides, even if Gideon is right.

Perhaps that's why Lizzy likes young men, ie Cary! Is Chris snr boring?

I think she's driven herself crazy. She couldn't act overtly the way she does and still be normal - devious manipulator or not. She couldn't be sane and be clawing and crying at Gideon the way she is. In her right mind she would have to know nothing would be more certain to drive him away than all that clinging, whining, and making scenes. At the beginning when she came back, she was pretty clever in her ploys with, Eva, and stuff like remember the good old days, etc., She was probably thinking Eva's jealousy would turn off Gideon and drive him back to her. But she's just acting bonkers now. I don't believe she really intended to commit suicide, but screwed it up and took too many pills. And if she knew about and was still willing to risk drug damage to her baby, she needs committal and help.

I can see your pov, but the reason I think she as totally gone off the rails is because the meds she is taking we're wrong for her. It was suggested by someone, that Anne Lucas, has targeted Corinne, because she(Anne) thinks Gideon wants her(Corinne). Corinne visited Anne, who deliberately gave her the wrong pills, sending her crazy. Anne's revenge for the way Gideon treated her. Anne is the crazy one! Corinne's was wrong meds. But hey, I can smell crow pie cooking! :)

I've just had a little moment. A lot of you want Eva to use her Krav Maga skills, but I don't think she will use them on anyone close to her. I'm thinking that she will use them on Megumi's boyfriend. I reckon, that Eva will go to her friends apartment, when she returns from SD, or even the Friday before she goes, because Megumi is still "sick." Finding Megumi perhaps battered by Michael, as she is helping Megumi, Michael appears, and tries to ward Eva off. She retaliates by using her skills, saving Megumi. What do you think. To OTT?

We know little about Monica's marriage to the 'whale' gambler. She has something to tell Eva. I'm sure that's where Sylvia is heading.

Eva's stronger than all of those around her. I think even stronger than Gideon in that she is further along in dealing with her skeletons. Even her dad Victor is kind of a mess right now. It's going to end up that everyone has to lean on strong Eva.

hi Michele. I thought that perhaps, Monica was paying off gambling debts, left by husband no 2. Did he owe money to someone dodgy, that's why Monica is paranoid about Eva's safety, and her comments about her being drained financially, when having lunch just before the wedding.

Hi Julie, I'm a little confused. Why are you saying Mark didn't get the account? Because there would have been a conflict of interest because Eva would have sided with La Rose Noir against Adriana ? It's very early in the morning in VA right now and I've not yet been caffeinated!

I assumed Mark didn't, he was convinced he didn't. Eva's bosses will jump through hoops to get Gideons business. Perhaps Gideon had already approached the advertising co, regarding his vineyard.

Fast track to crazy is right. Corinne just attempted suicide and suffered a miscarriage. Regardless, of anybody's feelings towards her, right now the only person Corinne needs to be confronting is a psychiatrist, hopefully a new one. Gideon and Eva need to stay far far away.

I don't think Corinne is crazy mad. I think she is a crazy manipulator, to get what she wants. She blindsided Gideon and Eva at the dinner in Bared, convinced Eva she had a nooner with Gideon, and at her apartment. The woman is spiteful and devious. Unfortunately the miscarriage was a result, of that attempted suicide. Something she will have to live with for the rest of her life. We will have to wait to see where this storyline goes, but I don't disagree, the woman needs help.

I'm not sure if Eva confronted Corinne that it would help any. Corinne's currently on the fast track to crazy. She's not acting rationally at the minute and if Eva were to confront her, there is no telling what she would do. But I don't thibk she would recognise that Gideon has chosen Eva and it's over. I think for Corinne to accept that fact it has to come from Gideon.

Think about it, at which point would you give up...

Eva telling you "he loves me."

Gideon telling you "I love her. "

With both Brett & Corinne, it has to come from the person they are pursuing. It's the only way they'll accept defeat.

Both Gideon and Eva together need to sit these two(Brett and Corinne) down, I don't care if they double date, and just let them know, we are "engaged/married " nothing is going to happen. Suck it up and get on with your lives. Gideon and Eva have both have dilly dallied round this pair for too long.

Agree. After all, Eva hasn't pulled Corrine's hair. So far she's let him handle Corrine in his own way. He made need Eva's help in the end. Lol. It would be cool if he let Eva handle her closure with Brett.

I have been wondering if Eva will have another confrontation with Corinne, as she(Eva) knows how she is manipulating Gideon. All this tiptoeing round her needs to stop! Eva needs to tell her a few home truths, at the very least. Everyone to the bleachers for the show! Lol

Same goes for Brett. Both of these two need to get a clue.

I just thought of something after having read everyone's comments and theories.  What would make Gideon take off that quickly when he found out that Eva was at the Garden Party?  We know that his abuser is no longer present so it couldn't have been an actual matter of physical safety.  Was it emotional for Gideon?  Or is there something more that we the reader haven't found out about yet?  What do you think?

That house has so many bad memories for Gideon. His emotions must have been screaming when he found out where Eva was. Yes Hugh wasn't in the picture anymore, but there's creepy Chris, trying to hit on Eva, and his darling mother!

I'm sure we won't find out all in book 4, but the h e l l he went through, was enough not wanting Eva there.

Not necessarily. I was think about that today maybe she is just a good actress. Sylvia doesn't like to give spoilers and I asked a couple and so did a couple others. Maybe she knew she was giving things away saying that is a spoiler and she didn't want to say it again.

Funny you should say that, because part of me still thinks the redhead in Bared at the advocacy dinner(which Sylvia denied) is Anne Lucas, given how she is stalking Gideon at functions now! If she said it would be a spoiler, we would know that she was going to crop up later in the books. Oh look, here she is again! Bunny boiler extraordinaire! Probably wrong again, but.........what this space! ;)

I just thought of another possibility, though. Suppose Gideon had made some sort of proposal to the agency that they take on some of the other Crossfire accounts. Maybe he could be proposing that Mark work more for Crossfire in a sort of liaising (if that's a word) capacity. They know he trusts Mark because Gideon had specifically requested him for the Crossfire (née Kingsman) Vodka account. The Waters agency would just love to have a closer relationship with the Crossfire Industries. I'm sure they'd be more than happy to throw in a lowly assistant account manager in with the deal for Mark, even if Gideon has yet to suggest it to them.

Which might lead to Eva finally getting a chance to demonstrate her Krav Maga skills on Gideon's a s s.

Don't know how plausible this scenario really is, but if SD is making us wait till the fall for the next installment, we're going to have to do some writing ourselves to feed the beast.

I think we all know that Gideon requested Mark, when he was asked to work on the Kingsman Vodka project(hmmm, i wonder why?). I also think that Mark didn't get the Adriana vineyard account, because Gideon had acquired the Black Rosé vineyard, and a certain assistant would have been working with the opposition. I'm sure Gideon has had a hand in this somewhere. :)

I think Paul, reported to Gideon where Eva and Cary had gone, when Clancy picked them up. He(Gideon)sped off, losing the security detail, to get to Eva quickly.

I just had a thought about Deanna (only because I want to kill her off) and I'm wondering....back in Bared to You when Gideon went to get Eva from the garden party he mentioned a tail.  I wonder if she was following him from the beginning.  He knew the press was following him when the pictures of him kissing Eva went public.  Did Gideon recognize her?  Is she responsible for putting Nathan on Eva's trail by printing the pictures?  I wish I thought of this when I had the chance to ask Sylvia questions.

I always read that tail, as the bodyguards were tailing Gideon, who lost them when he took off fast, when he realised that Eva was at the Vidal residence.

I get the impression, she has been on his case since he sent her packing. She as probably been slowly building a case against him. We don't know yet when they had sex, but he remembered her, so it couldn't have been that long ago.

More guilt for Gideon indirectly, if his sexual encounter with Deanna brought Nathan to Eva's door. Although he did stop Nathan. I'm sure our intrepid reporter will find out about Nathan though.

I was thinking that in every book Gideon gets into some kind of physical altercation with someone:

           BTY-he punches Ian

           RIY-beats the snot out of Brett (not to mention Nathan!)

           EWY-skirmish with Giroux

So keeping the pattern going I'll predict he has a go at Dr. Terry.

I wonder if Cary will find out that his stupid actions with Ian, resulted in Gideon having to pay out a huge sum of money. He regretted what he did, apologising to Eva. Yes. I know Gideon didn't have to deck him, but he stepped in thinking Eva was in trouble.
