  1. Thank you. I wasn't out for sympathy. These books give me hope and a warm tingly feeling. I'm just a romantic. :)
  2. Thanks, you ladies are the best. Yes it's only a story. But the subjects in it are true to life, ie the abuse, which in this case affects many of the characters. If these characters keep their secrets, how many other children/adults also do the same, in real life. What lengths people will go through to hide their lives from others. Paying money to silence people from telling the truth. Life isn't a bed of roses, unfortunately. It's a good job I have a wicked sense of humour. :)
  3. I hope so. We need a bit of cheer, to keep us going till the next one.
  4. We're on team Eva and Gideon. Huh! No one will mess with us women. Bring them on!
  5. I've been widowed nearly eight years now. This story and FSOG makes me realise what I'm missing in my life. Being together, loving arguing, laughing, making decisions as a couple, it's what relationships are all about. Life. I know how hard life would be for Gideon if Eva wasn't in his life, with her at his side, in his bed. I'm doing it. It sucks!
  6. Don't forget what Gideon said about ruining any publication that ran a scoop on Eva's abuse story and destroying the journalist that wrote it. I have a hunch this might be the case here.
  7. I so agree. It's too much to cram into one book. It will spoil the storyline. Although its going to be frustrating, I'm glad it's going into 2 more books after EWY. We just have to be patient and theorise like we have for the last 5 months. We will get there in the end. Just like our lovers.
  8. I love the way, everyday household names and places are included in the storyline. This is what makes the books seem real. I did wonder about Page Six when I first read BTY. From here on, I would have thrown in the towel with Gideon, if I had been Eva. His behaviour was appalling, cold and destructive. Bearing in mind all they had talked about over the weekend, 36 hours later it looks like his giving it to an old flame. Her self esteem and respect for Gideon, must have fallen through the floor. Of all the people to rub her nose in it. CORINNE! ARE YOU MAD!! STUPID BOY!!! Shaking head here.
  9. With just over a week to go, how about a song called The Final Countdown. By Europe.
  10. same here Sharon. I was married for 26 years. Everyone deserves to be loved. :)
  11. I agree. If only he knew that once he tells Eva, he will feel like a great weight will have been lifted from his shoulders, just like Eva when she told him of her abuse. It's the main cause of their tension. But yes, he will overcome this hurdle.
  12. Eva is chipping away at Gideon. He is learning slowly about his relationship with Eva. He has never confided in anyone all his life, now this woman enters his world, turns it on its head, demanding answers to secrets he feels uncomfortable revealing. I think any man would have a problem revealing they were raped, regardless of age. He also feels she has enough baggage of her own to contend with, without adding more to her burdened shoulders.
  13. We are such a diverse bunch of ladies, from all walks of life, our ages range from young to me(54), we would have a whale of a time.
  14. The more the merrier. Shame we live so far apart. We could have a reunion. H.e.l.l. How about we all meet in NC. :)
  15. The day they get married, I will buy a hat and a bottle of champagne and celebrate with my good friends on this forum. :)
  16. If your theory is correct, Lucas has had this burning a hole in his back pocket for a while then. From the way Lucas has tried to warn off Eva several times, he IS gunning for Gideon. Did he genuinely like Eva, and feel sorry for her (I don't think so) or just trying to sabotage their relationship. So did Lucas set the ball rolling on Gideon or did Deanna already have ammunition on Gideon? Who contacted who?
  17. Well we all know what Eva and Gideon did with chocolate in chapter 11. Wink wink :)
  18. Got it now. Googled it. Can't beat a bit of chocolate. :)
  19. I call her his safe haven, but I like your lifebelt in an ocean of troubles. Monica married for money, Eva doesn't care about material things, she just needs/wants love. She is a daddies girl. He loved/loves Monica. Eva will marry for the right reasons.
  20. Ladies please explain. Theobromine?
  21. As I said the other day. Makes me smile, considering the content of the book. You can get round something's by putting a full stop in between. h.e.l.l. Heeheehee
  22. It's no wonder she wanted to go back to that weekend, after what's about to unfurl.
  23. Chapter 12. Favourite lines. Monica "He's completely taken you over and assumed control of everything." Eva "That's his nature." Monica "That's the nature of all powerful men" Monica to Eva . "Your still replaceable Eva . What he's built is not. You jeopardise his empire and he'll leave you." Made me think of Gideon telling Eva . "I'd kill for you, give up everything I own for you......but I won't give you up."
  24. I like chapter 11, for many reasons, but one being, Eva tries to reconcile Gideon with Ireland. She accuses Gideon of being afraid of her(Ireland). It's seems quite obvious that he doesn't have much interaction with his sister, who Eva reckons, hero worships her brother. She asks him to bring her(Ireland ) to dinner, Eva's family meeting his family. He does agree, saying "I'll invite Ireland to dinner with your father because it'll make you happy and that makes me happy."
  25. I've got that too. No idea what it means or how to get rid of it.
