  1. Hi Ript,

Here we go again. What I had posted earlier and had disappeared was that regardless of what kind of apparatus Eva uses or one might use, I highly suggest using an actual garter belt system. I once used the "self adhesive" type or stay-up type of stocking. What I wasn't warned about was the fact that one of my stockings didn't want to stay up. I constantly kept having one stocking rolling down my leg, therefore giving one of my legs a nice wrinkly appearance (sort of like an elephant's knee), all while I was walking on a very busy dowtown street. I was trying to tame one wildly wayward stocking all while a bunch of business executives were watching this under garment fiasco play out. They were all just roaring with laughter and I was trying to pick up my stocking and quash my embarrassment. It was quite a sight! :)

    Hi Gigi,

I have had that happen to me also. It is super embarrassing! I've now been trying to see if I can get away with a garter and no VPL in some of my work outfits. Or I will just have to find another way to prevent a stocking leg from rolling down mid day. :-)

  2. LMAO GiGi "dirt nap." Corinne certainly does need to loosen up. I thought Brett would be good for Mags. ;) But Corrine could certainly work also.

There was FB chatter yesterday on a book bloggers page about Megumi. This was her question:

"Am I the only one suspicious of MEGUMI, Eva's colleague, and the random references to her blind date thrown in here and there in REFLECTED IN YOU??"

    What does everyone think?

I'm not suspicious of Megumi. She was working there long before Eva. Eva mentions remembering her from the interview to get the job. Later (post vegas trip?) Eva tells herself she is new to the area and needs her own friends outside of Gideon. Girls are known for talking about their relationships and dates. We also try to match people together when we can (we do it here w/Brett & Corrine; Arnoldo & Magdalene). I done see Megumi as a threat. I see her as a coworker who is occidentally a lunch date with Eva (and now Will)

  3. What made the situation even funnier at that point (him on the phone with her a 5 p.m. Friday, still pestering her) is that upstairs three hours ago, he most certainly had the touch! He had her on that couch and she was so hot for him she would have done whatever. It still intrigues me about where things would have gone if the two of them hadn't gotten interrupted.

Now, three hours later, she's gotten herself back under control and her assertiveness has come right back. Poor Gideon .... that's NOT how it's supposed to work. He used to women being totally hooked from the first taste of him. Instead, Eva's back to her sassiness -- and still has her power intact too. Despite how good that kissing/fondling had been, she still wasn't going to settle for strangers with benefits, no matter how hot she was for Gideon. Go gurl!

This is also one of my favorite quotes and scenes from this chapter!

  4. The first description we have of the Crossfire, from page 4 of Bared to You

The Crossfire was seriously impressive, a sleek spire of gleaming sapphire that pieced the clouds. I knew from my previous interviews that the interior on the other side of the ornate copper-framed revolving doors was just as awe-inspiring, with golden-veined marble floors and walls and brushed-aluminum security desk and turnstiles.

The walls and floor in this snapshot are that kind of marble, and the elevator doors are brushed-aluminum (which would keep in the overall theme of using that sort of metal in the interior.

Gideon and his elevators!!!! Carries around that master key to make it easier to corner Eva!

My initial thought when I first saw the snapshot was "its the crossfire". Then I started over thinking and wondering if it is one of their apartment buildings or one of the many other buildings Gideon owns

  5. Ciao Gabri,

I was thinking about what you said about Eva and her fashion choices and something struck me. Eva is a very sexual person internally and externally. Most women wouldn't wear garters with stockings. The garters can be uncomfortable and the lines may show through the clothing (depending on what they would wear).

I think that if we polled the women of this forum, I think that many would say that if they had to wear stockings, they would most likely choose the convenience of pantyhose. The reference of garters and stockings are usually reserved for sexy or romantic evenings. Perhaps this is a North American thing, perhaps not. What do you think? What does everyone think?

Personally I wear stockings when I wear a dress or skirt. Most if the time its the kind that stay up on their own as I don't want the lines of a garter holding them up. But depending on the dress or skirt I may opt for a garter too.

  6. I'm guessing that Eva and Cary moved into the apartment that weekend before she started the new job. Especially because if June 1 was a Tuesday, then Monday would have been May 31 -- Memorial Day. The final Monday in May is Memorial Day, one of the biggest national holidays in the United States. So Eva/Cary would have a long weekend to move, then Eva would start the job Tuesday.

Except Eva did a timed commute to work during a busy time on Monday to give her an estimate for her actual commute. And business as usual was taking place on Monday. (when she first encounters Gideon). Usually businesses (even private sector) are closed in major Federal holidays.

  7. OK, since we're jumping all over the place even as we try to stick to reading a chapter a day .... something work related about Eva fell into place for me as I was re-reading Chapters One and Two of Bared To You, chapters in which Eva starts her new career in advertising and from day one (well, actually day two of the story) Gideon manages to finagle himself into her company .....

.... why is it the week after Nathan died, which ended with Eva dumping Gideon, did all of a sudden a new character came up at Eva's agency, Will-the-new-hire. See page 290 of Reflected. One of the other junior account executives (i.e. someone low on the totem pole exactly at the same level as Eva's boss) got a brand new assistant (i.e. someone even lower, at the entry level and doing the exact same job as Eva does -- someone she naturally was asked to help train.)

Who wants to bet that Gideon pulled some strings to place Will in Eva's office as a way for Gideon to keep an eye on Eva at work? Not only is Will's timing of starting work there a little too convenient, it just so happens that Will is in the process of moving in together with his long-time girlfriend (his high school sweetheart no less.)

Hmmmm ..... Gideon knows about Will as a person somehow -- knows Will is a good guy, an old fashioned nice guy who would be totally safe to be around Eva, who wouldn't dream of ever pursuing Eva romantically. So Gideon pulls strings for Will to start working right away at Waters Field & Lehman -- and Gideon even arranges for Will and his high school sweetheart to be able to get an apartment together in New York City.

Oh I can't imagine Gideon doing something like that (cough, cough).

I wonder if he is part of the security team Gideon has... "to keep a watchful eye" on Eva as Gideon says... Or ... "to spy on me" as Eva says.

  8. Hi Julie54,

I think most children want to believe that they were hatched from a pod or found in a field somewhere. :) Not too many kids want to think that their parents have s** or G** forbid, they enjoy s**. I think their brains would begin to physically melt from that kind of realization. :)

This makes me smile too. I'm sure at one point in time we all thought our own parents never had sex... Well except for the number of children they have LOL :-D

  9. Hi everyone,

I just have one more controversial question to ask (quickly) before I put down the “what Gideon did was wrong†stick. What if you were the mother or father of a child who was mentally ill, committed rapes, tortures, etc but hadn’t yet killed anyone, had been incarcerated (locked up in a mental institution) for his crimes and by all accounts had paid his debts to society-according to the law. Would you be ok with someone premeditatedly coming along and murdering your child (for something he not done) or would you want your child locked up in a mental institution where he could get help and where the public would be safe and protected.

You carried that baby in your womb, had hopes and dreams only to realize that they would never come to fruition. Every hope and dream that you ever dreamed for your child was dashed; every prayer ever made to a higher power has gone unanswered. You have a very mentally ill child.

One day you receive a knock at the door and find out that your child has been murdered. As the investigation goes along you (the parent) find out the details of your child’s demise. You find out that someone had methodically and premeditatedly plotted and planned the murder of your child. How would you feel? Would you be ok with your child’s murder and that stranger taking the law into his/her own hands or would you have wanted the law to punish your child?

As I have stated before, what Nathan did was despicable. I am not in any way shape or form condoning it. Nathan got killed for something he hadn’t done yet. Did Nathan deserve to die based solely on what he had done?

This scenerio is quite different from the one in RIY. Nathan was a danger to others. We know his mom was dead and his father considered him dead.

Honestly I can say my baby sister is mentally ill. She has committed crimes (burglary, trespassing, theft and providing false information to police). I am her only family aa our dad has not been an active parent for years and our mom died this past October.

I can honestly say I am fine with her being in jail. (her current location).

I know she is safe, dry, getting food and has someone watching her.

If she is released and she was to hurt someone badly, became a dangerous threat to someone and was killed that would be unfortunate. However I would be o.k. with it.

  10. Hi Gigi

Yes I can see where your coming from. But as a mother of 2 girls, I wouldn't hesitate to defend my girls even if it meant ending a life if they had been subjected to what Eva had been. It's instinct to protect what's yours. Unfortunately it's life, whether human or animal. Personally I think Victor might have killed Nathan if Gideon hadn't, had he of known. He is going to feel guilty for not being there or Eva.

I totally agree with you. If I perceved my boys or my husband was in mortal danger I too would do anything to keep them safe, both Physicaly, emotionally.

  11. Hi Peachies,

Let's not mince words here. We are not talking about someone who suffered a heart attack, or a stroke or died of some terminal illness (or performed an assisted suicide of sorts). We are talking about a man who sat in his office and deliberately, coldly and methodically decided all on his own to end the life of another human being (yes, yes Nathan was despicable no doubt about it). So let's be clear here and not trivialize this, if what Sylvia said is true then Gideon is a murderer! Period! Point stop!

Interchanging murder with death is adding "chocolates, hearts and roses" to a very serious subject.

All we know is Sylvia said Gideon did kill Nathan. We haven't been presented with the details if how it happened. It could have been planned out and it could have been defense.

  12. Hi Peachies,

I think you can go to www.sylviaday.com and type in the search engine entwined with you and the first chaper should pop up. If not try www.goodreads.com go to the search engine and type up sylvia day and the book title and it should lead you to a link that should have the first chapter for you to read. I went to "Goodreads" last time and got Sylvia's first chapter from Reflected In You. I hope that helps. As it gets closer to the day or on the day I will go to the website and see if I can post a link for everyone. :)

    Thank you sooooo much!

  13. Hi Julie54,

I could have bought that arguement if Gideon had snapped, went to Nathan and killed him immediately. What I am finding hard to swallow is the fact that he just sat there and formulated a plan. He systematically and methodically planned this entire thing out (or so the reader is left to believe that given what has been written thus far). Anyway you slice that loaf of bread, it is still premeditated murder and that just isn't romantic from my point of view.

I am going to wait until June 4th to read for myself and see what exactly happened. I hope it will shed some light on a very hot topic.

Yes, Gideon does plan everything out as much as possible. In Bared he told Eva in his office at the crossfire, he is very protective of His people. He also said it to her again in the beginning of Reflected before the Vegas trip and before the Rock concert.

And although death is not romantic. Death is very much a part of life, and as unfortunate as it is, someone did assist Nathan in his.

The death (murder) in this story helps to make it more of a reality and not only roses and chocolate and kisses.

  14. I'm new to posting, but have been reading what everyone is saying and speculating. I like how everyone has their own thoughts about what will come next.

Can someone please tell me what the reference to May 7th is? Did I miss a posting by SD saying the first chapter would be made public before the June 4th release date?

Yes, we were informed the 1st chapter would be released on May 7th. We haven't learned where the 1st chapter will be found though. (we think it will be on Sylvia's web site or something like that)

  15. Hi Peachies

Gideon said that to Eva, in the car, when he started to open up to her at the end of reflected. He was trying to explain why he was behaving as he was.

As Sylvia posted yesterday, Eva is Gideons safe haven, and he will keep her safe at all costs. Because without her he is nothing.

Thanks for clarifying when he said it. I knew it was the end of reflected just not exactly where.

I understand how Gideon feels for Eva and his need to protect her and keep her safe. That is what he was doing when he took advantage of the opportunity.

  16. Hi MrsCrossfire,

If Gideon killed Nathan, how is that justifiable? From everything that we have read, it appears that Gideon methodically and premediatedly planned Nathan's murder. How is that a good thing?

Are we the readers supposed to cheer on a man who was that cold and calculated? I know that what Nathan did is despicable and I am not in any way, shape or form, condoning what he did, but how am I supposed to excuse what Gideon did? How is that something to be cheered for?

In some states of the United States there is a such thing as justifiable murder. Personally I think this case fits the description. Gideon at all costs is doing what he can to keep Eva safe.

He said to her once in the elevator or in her room "this is how it has to be" and "I had an opportunity and I took it". Perhaps the fire was his opportunity to end Eva's eminent danger?

  17. Black Eye Peas:

"I Got A Feeling That Tonight's Gonna Be A Good Night"

I can see Eva dancing to this when she is at the club with her girlfriends and phones Gideon from the club....

Yes I agree. Another good background song for that seen is Justin Timberlake's new song "suit and tie" or maybe that one for after Gideon gets to the club...

  18. Hi Peachies,

How much contact do you think Victor had with Eva in the early years? Do you think that he had visitation rights or was it more of a telephone and correspondence type relationship? What does everyone think?

    Hi GiGi,

I think it was more correspondence, telephone relationship in her early years.

In RIY Eva says she has never seen her parents near each other and she has never seen Any photos of them together. I think if Eva had visits with him they would have eventually been close enough for Eva to see them together.

  19. Hi Peachies

Would you think Victor would not see his daughter till she was in her late teen. They seem to have a good relationship. I would like o think that Victor was there for Eva in her early days as well.

    Hi Julie,

In one of the books (I think it was BTY) Eva talks about paying her student loans. She said she wanted to pay them in her own but lost that argument to Stanton and her dad. Eva says something about her dad never waivered to be her dad in every possible way. Later (maybe in RIY) she said something about Victor only being really involved for the past 4 years. (while she was living with or near him)

I think if they had visitation together I think Eva would have put on a happy face as she had been groomed to do (living in high society)

  20. Yes it appears he will do anything for Eva even kill. This upsets me because they already has so much baggage and then add a murder? yes Nathan deserved it but couldn't she write his death as Gideon using self defense instead of a calculated murder.

It 'was' done in defense... The defense (and protection) of Eva. Gideon was defending the little girl who wasn't able to, the teen who suffered a miscarriage, the adult with horrific night mares. According to Det. Graves Eva was in danger as Nathan was stalking her and he would have eventually caused mortal harm to Eva.

  21. Hi Gigi

We are doing a lot of agreeing tonight. Lol great minds think like.

Wht I can't understand is, if Eva went to stay with her dad during her childhood, between the ages of 10 and 14, why didn't he pick up on her behaviour? Surely she would have shown some symptoms of abuse ie withdrawn tendencies, not that I know a lot about this subject.

I think Eva didn't go to live near or with him until later in her life like late high school and college. He did pick up on her out of control wild behavior and helped her get treatment with Dr. Travis. That is where she first met Cary.
