  1. Hi Peachies,

I read one of your earlier postings about the "Master Key" theory, I am sorry I can't remember which forum it was in. I just wanted to clarify with you that hotels; like The Four Season and The HIlton Hotels (very upscale establishments) do not use a "metal Master key". They use credit card type key cards that have a magnetic strip which contains information and access to certain areas. Whom ever uses one of hese "keycards" would just swipe said card against a pad (a device that reads the magnetic strip on the key card), the door would be unlocked and the person could gain access.

A master key of sorts would allow a person to gain access to all levels of the hotel; from the service entrances, to the guest suites, to the offices and everything else in between. When a person uses this card, the information is digitally transferred to one of the hotel's computer main servers (one is on sight and the other is off sight). That way, if there is a problem with the computer system there is always another backup. It also help to ensure that the information remains intact and that no one can tamper with said information.

As a matter of research; I spoke with two respresentatives from "The Four Seasons Hotel and The Hilton Hotels" and they confirmed what I just stated. They would not go into specifics about security and such (I must have sounded so strange to these people when I explained that I was doing research for a book club discussion...sigh! :)), but they were nice enough to answer my questions. I chose these two hotels because they are upscale and have several global locations and as such various security requirements that would need to be taken into account (depending on the city and/or country the hotel is located in) in order to ensure that their guests have a safe and enjoyable stay.

I suspect that Gideon's hotels would have been just as upscale if not more so and as such would have utilized the same type of security for his hotel properties. Each and every singal key registers their location and time when they are used. It helps the hotel staff and others keep track of the guests and employees. It ensures that everyone stays safe and it also provides documented evidence and a time log if a crime is committed at the hotel. Feel free to contact either of these hotels if you would like confirmation. :)

    Hi There!

Thank you for the info and the research. I can only imagine the conversation that took place after your calls ha ha ha !

I agree, Gideons hotels are most likely upscale and equiped with high security standards in place. Especially if he is comfortable letting Eva & Carey go and stay in one without him.

I was thinking of a way to enter the room in an emergency like a fire, earthquake, flooding, complete loss of power etc. In these events the key card may not be operational or functional. I'm sure there has to be some way to enter the room to clear it or rescue the guests.

  5. Sylvia suggested reading a chapter a day from Bared then Reflected. So we will be ready when Entwined is released.... anybody want to compare notes for each chapter?

    Bared to you Chapter 1

Eva & Cary have relocated to NY and are finishing the unpacking. Eva is nervous starting her new job. Decides to do a test walk to time it for her commute. This is where she and Gideon first meet.

  6. Each time I hear this song on the radio I think of Eva & Gideon, break up round 2

    It's called Stay by Rihanna

All along it was a fever A cold sweat hot-headed believer I threw my hands in the air and said, "Show me something," He said, "If you dare come a little closer."

Round and around and around and around we go Oh now tell me now tell me now tell me now you know

Not really sure how to feel about it. Something in the way you move Makes me feel like I can't live without you. It takes me all the way. I want you to stay

It's not much of a life you're living It's not just something you take – it's given

Round and around and around and around we go Oh now tell me now tell me now tell me now you know

Not really sure how to feel about it. Something in the way you move Makes me feel like I can't live without you. It takes me all the way. I want you to stay.

Ooh the reason I hold on Ooh cause I need this hole gone Funny you're the broken one but I'm the only one who needed saving Cause when you never see the light it's hard to know which one of us is caving

Not really sure how to feel about it. Something in the way you move Makes me feel like I can't live without you. It takes me all the way. I want you to stay, stay. I want you to stay, oh.

  7. I'm actually happy to hear this. I really enjoyed their story. I hope there are a few more than 4. I figured she'd write more though, because RIY ended so that EIY would have to quickly add stuff to sum everything up. I wonder what the name will be.

I was hoping and thinking the same thing.

I kinda think the title of #4 will be in the end of the book like how she put EWY at the end of RIY

  8. Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to add a few points of my own:

    • Even if someone used a “master keyâ€, when that key was inserted into the lock, it would have made a NOISE (a chirp, a click, something).
    • Each and every single key whether it be a “master key†or employee key or guest key, would leave a documented computer trail. This would mean that Gideon would have to go and wipe the servers manually himself or have someone do if for him which would mean that he would have to involve someone else in the commission of his crime.
    • These are all extremely important points to remember when considering a theory.
At the end of the day, one would still need to apply some common sense when assessing a theory’s validity. What does everyone think?

It depends on what master key he uses. If it is a housekeeper key, it would only be recorded as housekeepers... Who most likely discovered his body. Or he could have used an actual master key, the metal kind, which don't get recorded.

I had not thought of the master key idea before now.

I think Gideon was involved somehow. During their time apart, he tells Eva he "had an opportunity he had to take", "this is how it has to be", and to "wait for him".

At another earlier time Gideon tells Eva (I don't know the exact words) he would give up everything for her, and he would kill for her.

  9. Because of what Gideon said to his mom at the garden about Cary being Eva's friend, makes me think that maybe Christopher Sr. was his dad's friend and she had something going on with him. That could explain the quick marriage and all. They might have already been involved.

I have always wondered about that conversation. How Eva is his and since Cary is Eva's friend that makes him Gideons too. I'm sure there is more to it than we know.

  11. Yay, new member -- waving "hi" to Peachies !!!! :)

Other way around -- Entwined picks up right where Reflected left off, with Eva having gone running back to Gideon. Sylvia's said that for months. She also has said Entwined will cover the next two weeks in Gideon and Eva's relationship, from the time Eva went back to him.

Overall, all three books together cover a couple of months of Gideon and Eva being together. I don't have an exact number of weeks handy for each, but Reflected roughly covers a month (including the nearly three weeks they were estranged) and Bared roughly two to three weeks, including the nearly one-week Gideon spent trying to seduce Eva.

    Waves hi back!

Oh Okayyyyy, now I get it. I was hopeful for a longer journey with Eva and Gideon this time around :-D

  12. "Because there are no leaps forward in time, only a few months have passed in Gideon and Eva’s relationship by the end of Entwined". This sounds to me like the length of time we spend with Eva and Gideon through Entwined.

"and only two weeks since the end of Reflected in You". (the laps of time between books?)

Maybe I'm reading the paragraph wrong though?

  13. Hi peachies

I'm in complete agreement with your thoughts on snap shots 2-6 but I vary with you on snapshot 1

Snap shot 1 I think will be a article on Vidal records latest signings success of six ninths how they are being so successfully selling out packed arenas.

Brett who is Eva in "Golden"

I've hooked up with her recently and it's Eva Tramell and I hope we can start over again

I think that could be a possibility. I think if it has only been 2weeks from where we left off I'm hoping they can move out of the shadow of Nathan and forward as Eva & Gideon, maybe discovering a few if Gideons secrets along the path?

And I'm hoping Brett doesn't become a bigger character in this book. :-)
