  1. I keep wondering where things will go with Corrine. Like what if she writes a tell-all book about Gideon to get his attention? Like from when they dated, stories about sexcapades in the hotel room. Including his "dark side".

And with Megumi, her absence most likely has to do with the guy she was seeing who was so sketch. Sounded a little foreboding to me.

Judging by how little a time period each book covers, unless Corrine had already done the writing I don't think that could happen within the next two books. But she could go to Deanna - although we don't know if his situation with Deanna is now calmed down with her being offered the wedding exclusive.

  2. I have to do a little bit of research, but I think the gambling age in Vegas wasn't 21 until  2003. Considering 'Bared to You' was first released in 2012 I think it's possible Gideon could have won that money when he was only 18ish.

Angus told Eva he had worked for Gideon for 8 years 'he hired me away from Mr Vidal when the time came' so Gideon was either 20 or just 21 when he was established enough to hire staff of his own. That doesn't discount that he could have begun collating funds before that age.

  3. Today is slow, tomorrow will be even slower and then midnight and I will be very irritable if at one minute past the book is not on my kindle although I've pre-ordered the ibooks version as well just in case (Jodi Ellen Malpas book was delayed downloading on Amazon last week until lunch time and a couple of other authors have experienced late publication even dragging to the following day).

Arash - just searched the e-book of Entwined and Gideon twice mentions his lawyers, although there are comments in the new chapters that Arash is aware Gideon is married so it seems possible he handled the preparation of the pre-nup and other details of the marriage. Gideon may well only have involved the one lawyer in anything involving Eva, thus Arash may have been involved in the legal side of getting the sex tape held back. If so then he may well have been critical of Eva's past and already had a discussion with Gideon and understood how he feels about her and is happy that his friend is happy??

  4. Putting this in this thread rather than the spoiler as some members may not be reading that section yet.

Are we setting a date and time when to start discussing the book, bearing in mind due to time differences (and booksellers letting people have the book early) some readers will be ahead of the pack?

  5. Wouldn't Eva have recognised her if she was the same person? I quite like the theory she is something to do with the redhead at Gideon's office, although we have no idea why that woman seems to dislike Eva.

After the engagement to Corrine ended I'd expect Gideon to have put it about a bit and gained experience before meeting up with Anne??? Although it sounds like his experience of sex outside of the hotel room seems to have been non-existent, and he had to be in control, he obviously learnt quite a bit about how to ensure he gave those who merited it a good time.

  6. Re timing of affair with Anne - if he used Deanna to escape from Anne, could that particular night be more recent - otherwise Deanna has held a grudge for quite a long time (I'm assuming the night was at the end of his dealings with Anne and not her pursuing him some years later which may not be correct). Is it only the fact that he seemed to have thawed with Eva that made her start her crusade against him or is it not that long since the night he spent with her?

(just seen the post from Lighthouse - sorry, mine is similar - I get e-mails when posts are made so visit to reply, but that particular post didn't appear, weird as the others have).

  7. Hi goodbook

I did see about his using the word crossfire, but also wondered if there could be more behind him thinking I Love You was not enough to get his feelings over. For most people those three words are sufficient, he's happy to accept their meaning when Eva says it and we know she definitely does love him.

We do have a heck of a lot to learn about him still.

  8. I almost had the book, it was on the shelf in Waterstones, I took it to the counter and the assistant recognised it and was embarrassed to tell me she couldn't sell it to me and she must have missed that copy. Slightly disappointed but actually glad I didn't get it early as I want to be able to discuss on here once I have read it and obviously would not have been able to do so if I had the book now.

I had a couple of other thoughts, not fully fledged thoughts though, just things that came to mind as I was re-reading part of chapter 1 of CBY.

    1. This one's not really a great thought - Gideon seems reluctant to actually talk to anyone other than Eva about his past, possibly didn't even want to open up to Dr Peterson. He trusts Eva with the details but at the back of his mind in with the worry of losing her, must be the idea that if he lost her she takes his secrets with her. With the Brett problem hanging around he will be more reluctant to open up further to her?

    2. Is there more to his feeling that 'I Love You' does not say what he feels about Eva - has he been made to say those words to someone in the past (the abuser?) so that, to him, those words are meaningless in the context of his relationship with Eva?

  9. Someone on Facebook had posted there were rumours going around, from people who had read the first three chapters, that Eva was going to cheat on Gideon. The person posting was well and truly 'riled' up and she and her friends were going to boycott all the books, also being rude about there now being 5 instead of 3 books. The post has been removed as other posters were having a go at the opener, but Sylvia posted:

"Rumours are absurd. Wild speculation is a waste of everyone's time. It's not a spoiler to say that I don't write cheating heroes or heroines."

I for one am pleased we are getting 5 books, there's a heck of a lot still to learn about Gideon and why he is how he is. Sylvia's interviews for Penguin indicated she found it very difficult to write CBY plus that sometimes authors 'revisit and revise'. Whether that meant CBY I don't know, I seem to recall she also said she would probably not write in Gideon's POV as there was too much going on in his head - she obviously changed her mind about that as in the long run it must be easier to write his story from his POV. We also need to understand more fully his feelings for Eva rather than just the thoughts she has - in some instances her assumptions about what was happening with him were wrong (e.g. when she phoned Gideon in Reflected telling him goodbye, she wondered if he was with Corinne because he did not respond to her and try and convince her to bear with him and wait).

Not long now until we get the whole story and can share more solid views on how the storyline is panning out.

There have also been a few Facebook comments that the next book will be out in February, one person saying a question had been asked and that month confirmed, but today someone asked if the publication date was also given in CBY with the name of the new book - as the answer was no I doubt the February date is correct. In an answer on Good Reads she had said something about due to distribution, printing etc. six months was a possibility.

  10. It could be possible that the boy Ireland is dating is Ryan Landon's son. Her boyfriend is named Rick and Im sure that Ryan is not as young as Gideon LOL 28 year old billionaires are rare. Ryan may be in his early to mid forties and certainly young enough to tangle with Gideon for many years to come.

Rick's grandparents lost their money to Gideon's father's scheme and "his parents think it's 'convenient' that Gideon is so rich now". The only thing is that if this were Ryan Landon's son and Ryan's parents lost their money, Ryan has, like Gideon, become rich and built an empire so would be aware that it is possible for Gideon to have done so without there being anything convenient behind the wealth.

  11. Geroge, I saw that too about being restrained.

from the chat with his lawyer something big was already going down when he took her the outer banks.

The inner comment Gideon made make my mind wonder.. "my lawyer knows about eva " and he don't care why does Arnoldo

I wasn't sure if the mention of restrained was just that it reminded him of being held down by the abuser or meant more? He still has a lot to reveal.

The something big going down would probably be the LanCorp software take over. in Chapter 1 Arash mentioned 'while Landon's plotting your ruin, you're off at the beach' and then a few paragraphs later 'LanCorp's acquisition of that software set you back years in research and development.'

Arash hasn't seen Eva with Brett, Arnoldo has. He has seen Gideon fight Brett because he kissed Eva, get back with Eva and then again seen Eva dine with Brett and how she was during that meal. We've only heard about the meal from her own point of view, Arnoldo spotted the chemistry between them. He's been through it himself and is worried the same could happen to Gideon - he doesn't yet know Gideon and Eva are married, Arash obviously does as he will have drawn up the pre-nup and filed all the marriage documentation once Angus handed it over. Arash will see them as married and settled.

  12. I guess we're still only on the first day in this chapter, as they are focussing on Eva and Cary flying out to SD and Gideon's day, Christopher is not yet on the scene for this part of the story. I bet he reappears after they return from SD.

After reading these opening chapters I can now understand why Sylvia took so long over them - I'm sure she had originally said she would find it difficult to write from Gideon's POV as there was so much going on inside his head, I wonder if it was a fairly late decision to put quite so much in here from his POV?

And I too have been wondering if we will meet some of the characters from Afterburn/Aftershock in this one.

I suspect Gideon is still extremely insecure over both his life and relationship with Eva, despite the façade he puts on. I don't 'read between the lines' in books easily so some of you will probably have read more into parts of the story than I have, and I was really grateful for all the posts about the previous books which helped me understand more when I next re-read them. Some of my thoughts below.

He admits he is a mess, he mentions a time of being at the mercy of everything and everyone (that statement worries me). He's obviously aware that Evan needs security, something she does not realise as she thought her only threat was Nathan, but Gideon is still extremely keen to keep her protected. He insists on her being accompanied when she goes to see Megumi so one wonders if he already knows something about Megumi - as someone Eva is friendly with he will have investigated her background.

Having been let down by family in the past, where a family is supposed to support you and love you unconditionally, it's understandable that he is scared of losing Eva, the one person he feels does love him unconditionally, so the fact she admits that she still has some feeling for Brett would shake him to the core. She had the guts to come clean to him about this and a pity that he used the one thing he knew would hurt her and yet again made her want to run, even though she had said she would not do so again.

I'd love to know what Gideon said to Eva's dad that was earning him so much praise.

Interesting that he blanked out the office windows when his mother arrived, and that due to his resemblance to his mother he doesn't always liked seeing his own face. Hopefully more revelations in this book. Still no explanation of how his mother's ring became HIS.

Looks like when with Anne he was not exactly turned on yet she still came back for more. And then on to his thoughts about the number of women in his past who might cause problems for him, that they were aggressive by nature - will we hear how he took the upper hand with them?

  13. I hope this isn't a stupid question - but does anyone know if we will we get chapter 1 automatically if we have pre ordered the book?

It will be a link to Sylvia's web site rather than a download for e-book readers (although the last part of the book she posted did have a link to 'send to kindle' but that didn't work for me).

Link should be live at 9 a.m. PST 5 p.m. UK time.
