  1. I was beginning to wonder if his time with Corrine had not been vanilla - pretty sure what he said about what he did with Anne being more twisted was the worst he ever did, and the rumours Deanna mentioned of his dark side may well have come from Anne, but all we had up to CBY was Eva's POV and what he said to her - and we know he is capable of omitting to tell the full truth albeit without actually telling a lie.

And your reminding me Lancorp owns that hotel means I may have to change my mind about them not being a major part of the next book.

Is it wrong of me to feel sorry for all those who read CBY and dismissed it as having no storyline, or being pointless or a filler when in fact it is an important move along of the whole story?

  2. I think the last book is going to concentrate on resolving the problems with the women in Gideon's life. The Megumi scenario was, I believe, just a storyline to lead Eva to thinking more about working with Gideon, ditto the Lancorp stuff - I need to re-read the bits about that company but am feeling at the moment that the 'poking' and business competitiveness will continue but that it won't be a major part of the last book. Again really part of the story bringing Eva into working with Gideon.

But Anne, Corrine, Elizabeth definitely will have major parts in the book, not sure about Deanna but I feel she has not gone away and the red headed receptionist seems to be there for a reason. Brett could reappear as he is working with Gideon's half-brother and of course there is still something to resolve there.

I am also wondering how much more is to be revealed about Gideon's past s*x life? Way back in the story Eva had said she wanted to be "what you need, too" (in the library scene)and she got a taste of how he had handled some of his previous partners in the elevator scene. She also said "I want to keep you satisfied," . . ."I want to be everything you ever found in the other women you've been with" He had responded that time that as he couldn't keep his hands off her, that should tell her he didn't need more. But of course when angry and struggling for control, he did need more.

  3. The loose ends may also involve getting Gideon possibly reconciling with his mother, or at the least getting an apology from her for disbelieving him.

Hope you are right that the wedding gets brought forward, I did wonder if her staying out of his bed was to continue until they were 'officially' married so she would want it as quickly as possible. As it is to be on their property there's not a lot to prevent it being sooner and Gideon has said he is happy to have more weddings to Eva so Monica could be appeased by organising something bigger for a later date. We need to hear their vows this time as well.

  4. I know, I want Gideon's birthday present to be Eva, giving herself back to him and never, ever running away from him again. She kept promising not to and she still did (I realise to make him 'break' she had to do it that last time).

She's surely now co-owner of Cross Industries, she should take on the charity side of the company and, assuming she is up to the role, take over running that which should fulfil her need to make her mark on the business world. She can't avoid her working life being attached to Cross Industries so she should embrace that and get on with it.

Hopefully we will start to get Teaser Tuesdays soon, the concentration on the anthology Sylvia was involved with is done, Penguin surely must want One With You out soon. Once that is out hopefully work will commence on the tv series (just hoping it gets shown in the UK as Outlander still has not be shown over here !!!!)

  5. Time period of the books

Question - @SylDay how much time has past since Gideon & Eva met until CBY???

Sylvia Day .@melicpf12 It's June in #BaredToYou, and in #CaptivatedByYou it's just turning September.

Hmm, so that's possibly longer than I thought unless it's late June. Plus if we are in September what happened to Gideon's birthday - just seems odd that it wasn't mentioned, surely Eva and Ireland at the least would have given him gifts, and the friends would have wanted to party.

  6. Stuck on a train for a while today I had some time to think about various things, and at one point Crossfire entered my mind. Not sure where this idea comes from but here goes:

Hugh (calculatingly as someone else mentioned) instilled in Gideon an image of someone looking similar to his mother as a sexual fetish. Corrine fits that bill, as does Magdalene, although she has changed how she looks by having her hair cut. I'm assuming maybe Corrine's mother is similar in looks as well. We think Corrine may have something to do with Anne Lucas. What if, some time in the distant past, there was a ploy to interest Gideon in women of that type to trap him into being interested in Corrine (to attempt to get hands on, originally, any Vidal money that might have gone to him, but continued once he himself became successful and rich)???? This theory has to assume that Hugh's family are linked in some way to Corinne, either through friendship or being related, also has Gideon's father something to do with Hugh's family (were they clients of his who lost money) so could Hugh have been deliberately abusing Gideon because of who he was rather than just because he was a child requiring therapy? Probably totally wrong in my thinking but thought I'd write it down although as I write it, it seems far fetched :) (Train delay was over an hour - I was bored is my excuse).

Gideon does love his mother, no matter how distant he is to her when they meet, he has striven to ensure she has a comfortable life and that she and Chris Sr kept their heads above water financially. He witnessed the awfulness between his parents after his father had been found out about the Ponzi scheme, lived through his father's suicide, presumably saw his mother totally miserable until Chris Sr came on the scene and he doesn't want her ever to go through that again. Wonder if Elizabeth actually recognises just how much her son has done for her despite her past actions towards him?

  7. Scott is being a good secretary, he will know Corrine is an ex and that it would not be diplomatic to let Eva just go straight in without warning Gideon, whatever the reason Gideon let Corrine in to his office. In what we see he is making it clear to her he does not want to look at the photos (for all we know she hasn't been there long and he's only had that one photo in his hand - I hope). He would have made the glass frosted as he would have no idea what action she'd take and he wouldn't want the staff seeing anything untoward (he did the same with his mother in one of the other books).

Gideon opened the door immediately which indicates he had nothing to hide from Eva. He's holding the photo but it doesn't say he is looking at it (looking at them is in Eva's thoughts but not in what we see of Gideon's actions), and he didn't try to hide the fact that Corrine was standing pretty close to him, he could have drawn away but he was honest and let Eva see exactly how close Corrine was to him. Eva even says that 'she wasn't a threat'. At least Corrine knows she is not wanted once Eva arrives, with Eva around Corrine knows she doesn't stand a chance of trying to get back into Gideon's good books (but he definitely needs to do something to get through to her that he is NOT, NOT, NOT interested in her any more.) Her comments to Gideon regarding him keeping the photos is probably just to goad Eva and make her think he was interested in looking at them.

I did wonder if perhaps in his days with Corrine his anger/s*x issues were beginning hence her ability to soothe him; if they had a 'normal' relationship what did she need to soothe him for?

  8. Again don't read if you haven't read the excerpt

I got the impression that Eva hasn't 'gone back to him' in the sense that they are living together and having s*x. In the first paragraph she's been spending the last few days avoiding him, and she's wary of even touching him as that would make her want him. "Staying out of his bed was going to kill me, but it had to be done" - are they finally doing what Dr Peterson suggested, dating and really getting to know each other - maybe she's decided no s*x until after the wedding

The receptionist is drawn to our attention again, subtly. I get that heads are turning to follow Eva because they all know that Corrine is in the office with Gideon , but that red headed receptionist looks at her with distaste - is she something to do with Hugh and if so how did her background check not find that out?

Gideon does say he was not expecting to see Corrine, but assuming she didn't force her way in to his office, surely he's reached the stage of being able to tell her to f*ck off if she turns up unexpectedly? He really has no obligation to see her as he knows he can't stop the book being published so what is the point of being nice to her by allowing her into his space?

So Eva has a few loose ends to tie up - Corrine being one of them (Krav maga!!!!!!!)

  9. Hope we get to hear soon who the actors etc. will be.

I think the above is just Penguin books ensuring they maximise the publicity for their two series (Shades and Crossfire). It was inevitable they would start to push Sylvia's books once the film was out as there will be a new audience wanting to know what else is worth reading. The timing of the various video q&a session videos with book bloggers is doubtless part of this.

Wonder if we'll get a Valentine's Day teaser??? (insert emoticon of crossed fingers here).

  10. I don't think Henry Cavill can pull off Gideon, he doesn't have super sharp bone structure. He is very, very handsome, but not the look of Gideon that I picture.

I feel the same, his upper body is also a little heftier than I imagine Gideon to be - Gideon is lean whereas Henry is a little more solid. Plus seeing him in a photo this weekend with Chris Evans at the BAFTAs, although he looked pretty fine in his tuxedo, he didn't 'wear' it in the way Sylvia describes Gideon as looking when wearing a Tux. But I suspect he would act the role well,he has the ability to take on the character.

The actor has to be able to pull off the poker face Gideon uses a lot of the time, be tall and imposing and have the demeanour of a man who is commanding and noticeable. I've yet to see FSOG to see how well JD carries that side of the role, it's an important part of both Gideon and Christopher and I strongly feel that has to be portrayed in the Crossfire series.

  11. Another question/answer from Good Reads (there's no date on any of the questions so apologies if people have already seen these - I find Good Reads difficult to navigate, particularly the q&a section where there is no 'newest/oldest' filter.

question - I've read about your new Blacklist Series and wondered when the first book will come out?

answer Sylvia Day At this time, it's expected that both One With You (Crossfire #5) and So Close (Blacklist #1) will release in 2015, in that order.

There was also a question re release dates for the last two Crossfire books which was definitely asked before CBY was released.

answer To be honest, it would be impossible to release two Crossfire books at the same time or even within weeks of each other, for various production, distribution, and marketing reasons. I'd say four to six months is the closest two Crossfire novels could be to one another.

It's obviously not going to be four months, but there's still a chance for six months if Penguin have made the decision to announce the release during February (assuming they wish to ride on the back of the release of FSOG and who could blame them for doing that) and for release to be May/June.

I understand Good Reads did have July down as the date but that's been removed - in the past some web sites had put dates for CBY - on Facebook when this was mentioned it seemed some sites have to put a date in to put details live so they dates were never accurate (and it has been made clear that the only date we should believe is one announced by Sylvia and Penguin).

  12. I've just been reading through the questions to Sylvia on Good Reads and this appears - I don't think I can recall seeing a reason why she was stringing him along other than that she still felt a connection to him?

Question I feel like Eva is stringing Brett along a bit, almost giving him hope but there isn't any and I feel bad for him. Is there a yet to be revealed reason why she is doing this?

Answer Sylvia Day Yes, she has a reason, which you'll see in Captivated by You.
