  1. Hopefully Gideon's relationship with his mother will have defrosted a little by the time the wedding takes place.

I'm wondering if he is going to be able to forgive her for not supporting him in the past, somehow I don't think Eva will be able to completely solve that problem, nor his relationship with Christopher - that's one part of the storyline I'd rather not see resolved by a quick forgive and forget scenario which would just be too 'cute' - I can see from other sites that readers want the usual HEA of kids and although that should definitely be something for this couple's future, some readers want Eva to be pregnant now - they've only been together for something like three months, they need a chance to be a couple before children come along.

I think Arash as best man because of the Arnoldo situation.

  2. My gut feeling is she should stay with Stanton.  She surely has some feelings for him, it can't just be the money that she is there for.  She may still after Victor but he seems to have had a successful life on his own and I suspect would be better off remaining that way.

I agree with you. I hope Victor can find love again.  On a different topic and I believe this may have been mentioned before but I don't remember there being an answer, maybe you will know or if anybody else may know, but in OWY when Eva leaves the hotel after finding all of his "toys" and she's sitting in the restaurant when Gideon finds her he says that he can't be seen there do we know why? I'm thinking it's because of the mogul that he is but I'm not sure.  Any thoughts?

I think it was because he was upset with himself because Eva found that stuff and he was so relieved when he found her that he couldn't handle all of his feelings and he just wanted to be alone with her and make things right.

They were also in an area where Gideon would be recognised, remember that he has just experienced good s*x for probably the first time at the f**kpad with someone he already knows he cares for and she has seen the tools he has resorted to using with other women.  He's upset, wants to make things right, he's making the decision to actually take her to his apartment which must have been a huge thing for him to do, and doesn't want the paparazzi to see him in that state.

(PC Problems, had to re-boot so following on to my last comment)

I'm wondering if we are going to be given more information about how Gideon treated his previous women, we've already had a glimpse of what he got up to with Anne and I suspect that was the worst, but am I right to think that a lot of his involvement with other women was 'tasting' them and using toys rather than a full sexual relationship???  Not Corinne as I suspect he had the full works there but always in the f**kpad.

Having discovered Eva he's pretty much catching up on the last few years :)

I've never got into a book series in the way I have with this one, once that final book is out and we've dissected it and discussed every aspect I shall be at a bit of a loss :)

  4. Someone on Twitter said that Gideon and Eva breakup!! Please tell me this isn't true? I know I have asked this before and was told no that Sylvia Day has them having a happily ever after. But I really need to know they stay together because it will truly crush my heart!!  :(I know Sylvia tweeted that "Soon we'll see the last kiss in #OneWithYou. Do you remember their first one?" But I'm hoping that she's referring to it being the end of the series.

Was it this tweet "Cynthia Nieves ‏@cnieves099 16h16 hours ago

@SylDay Please tell me Gideon and Eva will breakup in the end. I just couldn't handle it."

If so I think the lady posting has missed out the word 'not' between will and break up.

Every book in this series ends on a reasonably happy note, no real cliffhanger, the couple are always together so how would the fifth book be any different?  The worst scenario Eva goes with Brett (who she has already decided has no comparison to Gideon) and Gideon with Corinne (who he has repeatedly rejected).

Gideon and Eva are married, certainly in his eyes the marriage is for ever.

At the moment no-one other than the author, her editors and proof readers know what will happen in the final book but I'm pretty sure the last kiss referred to will be the end scene of the book with Gideon and Eva kissing as they start the rest of their life together (possibly an epilogue a few years later with children).

Don't believe any rumours you read between now and the release date.  Last year some copies of the paperback of CBY were sent out earlier than they should and one person reached the scene where Gideon thought he saw Eva with Brett and immediately posted that Eva cheated on Gideon.  Sadly they never came back to apologise and tell people that by reading further in the chapter the truth would be revealed so a lot of people thought they broke up then.  Even when Eva runs from Gideon (despite her promises not to!!) she is still in love with him and in that last leaving at the end of CBY part of her intent was, I believe, to force his hand and let go of his past to Dr Peterson so he could finally begin to heal.  She knew that talking to a counsellor had helped her learn to live with what happened and she knows from his nightmares that Gideon needs to talk to someone properly about what happened.  It was bad enough that his father had committed suicide, then his mother re-marries and has more children, events which can also be traumatic for an already traumatised child hence the anger he showed.  Then the treatment for his anger turns into yet another trauma for him and his mother seemingly rejects him by disbelieving him.  He's buried all of that and shown considerable strength in getting on with life and being successful in business, but that is not enough.

I cannot see Sylvia Day splitting this couple up after all she has written about them, from the outset they were meant to be together but had to work towards the full happy ever after and this fifth book is going to take us to that.

  5. I was a little confused with the ending of the second scene of OWY.   What did Eva mean by saying Corrine's name....she can't be going to confront her now, since she is late for work.  Wonder what kind of advice Monica can give Eva on being the wife that Gideon needs?  I am sure Sylvia will explain everything in time, I was thrilled to receive the second scene, but as I said, I was confused....   Happy Thanksgiving everybody.

Yes that confused me also. Does that mean when Eva discovers Corinne in Gideon's office it is actually their second run-in of the day? Did Corinne go to see Gideon because of an earlier conversation with Eva?

I understood that Eva wants Monica's advice on how to deal with Corrine.

Corrine is a problem, and Eva wants to "solve" it. So, during lunch, Eva will have the chance to ask Monica how to deal with a woman who is trying to meddle into her marriage (throwing herself at her husband). I'm sure Monica has some experience with that, considering that she has married rich/handsome men, and will be able to help her.

I don't think Eva will go to see Corrine before work, but later in the book she's going to do something to ged rid of her once and for all.

That makes sense, but the segue does not.  First Eva says to her mom she needs her advice on how to be a better wife to Gideon.  Then on to her Mom asking if either one is having an affair.  Then Eva tells her mom that they eloped several weeks ago.  I chuckled when Monica asks if they got married without a pre-nup, then is upset when no one has gone over it.  Loved Eva's reply "a six year could have understood that pre-nup"  which is true....she got 10 million up front just for saying "I do"  then it only got better. Then Eva says they could meet for lunch, she has to hurry to get ready for work, and then Eva says Corrine's name.  Just saying, the segue is off.

I just re-read it again and it's quite ambiguous.  My first thought this time though was saying Corinne's name was enough to deflect Monica's attention away from the fact that Eva & Gideon eloped. This distraction allowed her to escape the room & delay the rest of the conversation. What do you think?

If the Eva version of the Valentines Day issued scene is the one used then she has not yet spoken to Corinne, after Gideon threw away the photos she thinks about how she fights the urge to see those photos, their exes remaining in the past, but she also thinks 'Which didn't mean that I wasn't going to have a few words with Corinne.'  Gideon is still being fairly nice to Corinne, although seemingly firm.  But (I think) she still thinks she has some 'hold' over him from the past.  Maybe a few even firmer words from Eva might make her finally realise that the past is over and done with and cannot be revived.

That is a very good point D500. Which version did you prefer? Personally I hope she uses Gideon's version! I have been looking forward to the time when Corinne finds out Gideon is married, and while we didn't quite get the dramatic reaction (yet) that I've been hoping for, I really enjoyed reading it! I think there are probably many people out there who read the books but do not necessarily check the website for excerpts or release info. I think they would appreciate this version most also.

    Which did you prefer?

I think she should print both versions as it was good seeing the same scene from both points of view.  I'd choose Gideon's POV as I think it was important we saw how he dealt with Corinne, rather than we read Eva's interpretation of what she saw.  We're moving forwards with Gideon's story now, just feel we need to hear more about his recovery from him.  I am looking forward to reading how Eva deals with Corinne and Anne Lucas - wonder if Anne will ever find out what Hugh did and just why Gideon treated her as he did, and her husband needs dealing with (I know Gideon's step-father visited him but surely there has to be some closure for Gideon and Eva over Lucas' lies about a child.

  7. Probably been discussed before - but did anyone feel Gideon was becoming weak and needy in CBY?

Bringing this up as I've read quite a few reviews and comments on other sites that readers felt he was falling apart and not the strong person he was in the first books.

His father killed himself and there's a comment from Gideon in one book about a father not loving a child enough to stay (and of course not loving their wife either, not just their child).  Then when he tells his mum about the abuse she disbelieves him and somehow Christopher is involved as Elizabeth says that Christopher was there and says nothing happened.  So Gideon's relationship with his mother and brother falls apart because of this - did Christopher genuinely not see anything or was he getting back at Gideon for something (bearing in mind he is only 5(?)?  And I think this left Gideon still at the mercy of the abuser (not sure, but one would expect even if an accusation was unfounded, the person accused would be removed from having access to the child  - depends if Gideon told his mum when the abuse started, or did he only tell her after suffering for a year?)

He also thought that his stepfather knew about the abuse and disbelieved him as well.  Not conducive to a happy home life, bet he was glad to escape.  He buries his abuse and the outcome of it deep in his mind and as that first bit of One With You points out, whilst awake his control is there but asleep the nightmares and worries appear.

He goes out with Corinne, she asks him to marry her but ultimately they split because how could he marry someone that he could only have sex with in a fuckpad and certainly could not sleep in the same bed, nor tell her about his past.

Then he meets Eva who has also suffered abuse, but has a mother who believed her and took immediate action to remove any access the abuser had to her child.  Plus Eva's father even not knowing what had happened to his daughter, had the sense to spot she needed counselling.  Eva understands, accepts what she knows of his past, loves him and ultimately realises that for Gideon to come to terms with his abuse he has to admit it to Dr Peterson.

So throughout CBY we see Gideon and Eva enjoying time together, meeting up with friends, Eva seemingly resolving the Brett situation, then Gideon has that one day where so many things occur he snaps and we have the elevator scene.  I found that a slightly out of character scene when recalling the author saying this was a vanilla couple as there do seem to be some non-vanilla things in Gideon's background.  I realised that the therapy Gideon did go through was anger management and if I understood it correctly Hugh was teaching him that sex was the way to go when angry along with the image of women physically like his mother.  So when he became extremely angry after those events, because he loves Eva and does not want to use her in an angry manner he stays at his apartment and uses alcohol to try and alleviate his anger.  Eva turns up and we know what happens then.

Then we have the sex swing scene and they seem to be very close during that.  Perhaps because she felt they were very much 'entwined' when Eva discovered what Gideon had done about Mark, knowing that at some point she would have to make the moves to make him break, and because it actually is not that big a deal so although she agonises over what he did it was an easy thing to forgive him over, she leaves him.  And ultimately she gets the result she wanted, he opens up to Dr Peterson which cannot have been an easy thing to do.  Instead of opening up in his own time he was forced into doing it if he wanted to keep her.

And of course he needs her, he's 28, since he was 11 he has not felt anyone in his family really loved him for himself, his one real relationship had been a non-starter and he's said how happy he has been since meeting Eva, despite her leaving him.  So I didn't see him as being weak, just desperate not to lose the one person that seemed to understand him, challenge him, that he loved obsessively - needy may come into it as he does need her if he is going to continue being happy.

Not sure I've covered everything, or even explained my thoughts well.  Feel free to pick holes in what I've said as I could well have misunderstood parts of the book or even mis-remembered.

  8. I saw on Facebook-Penguin for UK, NZ, and about 5 more countries. Can't remember what they were now.

    Hurry up April 5th!!!!

When I first looked UK had the other publisher but yes, it is now Penguin.  The book is currently number 10 in  Books contemporary fiction and 15 in Kindle on Amazon.co.uk.

on Amazon.com the paperback is 265 in books overall and 108 in Romance/Contemporary.  But if I click the link to Amazon.com Kindle edition on Sylvia's web site, the book is number 2 in both books and kindle!!!!!

Number 12 in Australia's Amazon Kindle store.

  9. Interesting, one of the dates I discovered when the Netherlands publicised the book for a February release was 16 November 2015 (not a release date but an information date), I can't remember which site I found that on but they were pretty accurate.

Pity it is still a long way away, but at least we have the date and will hopefully get teasers.  And plenty of time to do a re-read of the other books a chapter a day.

Sadly I have also seen some people writing that giving this good news just after what happened in Paris was in poor taste.  Unfortunately almost any day there are bad things happening around the world so  in fact any day of the year could be a bad day.  Sadly there will always be those who look to find reason to complain and not be happy.

  10. Not really related to One With You expectations, but I would be interested to read Gideon's POV of the time he headed to California re the sex tape and how he felt seeing that it really was Eva on the tape.  Just sense that we would get more of the depth of his feelings for her over that particular problem encountered.

I always wanted to be inside Gideons mind when he came to the conclusion to kill Nathan.

Yes, did he set out with the intent of killing or just paying or negotiating, was the opportunity he took one decided at the moment rather than pre-meditated?

  11. A few things from Facebook:

Question was how we're in 2nd week of November and it has been over a year blah blah  Sylvia CBY released Nov 18 (or later, depending on the territory) so it hasn't been "over" a year quite yet. But it's close and I totally understand the frustration. Waiting sucks. But we've got some things happening, so sit tight and please try to stay positive.

And a post that has now been removed (or hidden) under a photo about an author needing to be fearless

Comment A fearless author doesn't leave readers hanging.  Response Aww come on xxxxxx.  You have to know I'm doing my best under the circumstances.  The waiting is hard for everyone, including me, but being positive makes it much easier to bear.

  13. The details on the 'Coming Soon' One With You page have been extended

"Gideon Cross. Falling in love with him was the easiest thing I've ever done. It happened instantly. Completely. Irrevocably.

Marrying him was a dream come true. Staying married to him is the fight of my life. Love transforms. Ours is both a refuge from the storm and the most violent of tempests. Two damaged souls entwined as one.

We have bared our deepest, ugliest secrets to one another. Gideon is the mirror that reflects all my flaws ... and all the beauty I couldn't see. He has given me everything. Now, I must prove I can be the rock, the shelter for him that he is for me. Together, we could stand against those who work so viciously to come between us.

But our greatest battle may lie within the very vows that give us strength. Committing to love was only the beginning. Fighting for it will either set us free ... or break us apart.

Heartbreakingly and seductively poignant, One with You is the breathlessly awaited finale to the Crossfire® saga, the searing love story that has captivated millions of readers worldwide"

  14. Isn't it just the Crossfire series where Penguin is the publisher?  The comment last year that all other books were on hold so Crossfire could be finished means other publishers have accepted delays for books they are expecting - including the new Blacklist series so Penguin must have a huge command over other publishers if they can demand this of an author.

  15. In answer to a question about not replying to fans on Facebook today:

Hi, Angela Gunyan-Oberlin. I do reply, but responding to every comment on all of my social media channels would be a full-time job and I already have a couple of those (mom / writer). So I answer a few here and there when I can. Samara does reply daily, but I think the frustration is that the answer--we don't know anything solid yet--isn't what everyone wants to hear, but it's the truth. We don't have any information to share at this time, but we'll be sure to post once we've got information that is set in stone. Hope this helps!

  16. Someone in Holland had contacted the publisher when they saw a date of 24 November for publication (I suspect not Penguin US themselves but the publisher in Holland) and was told that date was no longer relevant as the author was still busy writing and not yet given the manuscript to Penguin.  I got that information third hand.  So far the Netherlands is the only place with any publication date mentioned (although at one point a UK site had 29 September as the date but that was removed within 24 hours of it appearing).

Currently a Dutch site has the release of the translated version as 1 March 2016.  That has been on their site now for a couple of months.  So 15 February could be true, people felt she might have gone for a Valentine's Day release this year but the 50 Shades movie was coming out then - 14 February 2016 is a Sunday so it would make sense to publish on the 15th.

All of this is, of course, conjecture drawn from possibly incorrect information.  The lack of teasers though could indicate nothing this year - but Penguin may still plan to do a 'Grey' type release.  That worked well for them with the book publishing on the day (unlike Captivated where people were able to get the paperback days before release and start rumours about the story line).

  17. Slightly off topic but adding here as this is the thread most people are currently posting in.

I've just read a review on Amazon.com which basically slates Captivated by You but as with some other reviews mentions grammatical errors.  Now I have read the books several times now (re-reading the previous ones prior to publication of new book and then a read through all four), and my job for years was editing people's written work for typos and grammatical errors and if there are errors in any of the books I have not spotted them.  Now I'm not doing that work perhaps my checking is slipping?  The reviewer felt Fifty Shades was a better book and story - I'm definitely not slating 50 shades as I enjoyed reading it but to my mind it was not as well written as Sylvia's books plus I liked the way Sylvia almost made this story into a crime thriller with the murder of Nathan, the bracelet etc.  Pity that part of the story ended so easily - making Gideon a murderer was quite something to add to the story, particularly as that is something he cannot discuss with a therapist and remains between him and Eva - if that subject bothers him in the future he needs Eva to be there for him.

One recent reviewer also mentions the 'bad language' which I presume is Gideon calling Eva's 'parts' c**t and his own c**k or d**k.  The c**t word no longer offends me but I appreciate it does still offend others as it was thought to be the most offensive word in the English language.  But I have never thought of my own parts as p***y and my boyfriends always referred to c**t. I guess a lot of writers chose to use the p word instead of the c so as not to offend readers whereas Sylvia writes it as it is.

Also still fed up of how many people are moaning that there are 5 books and this is all a money making exercise.  I've seen others comment on Facebook that if it were money making then the 5th book would have been rushed and released to make money, not held back as long as it has (presumably some re-writing going on, it was fairly clear from the two excerpts Sylvia posted on her web site that she was still writing the story, even though we had earlier been told One With You was being written alongside Captivated - suspect the characters continued to talk to her and she had to revise what was already written).   No idea what exactly is holding the book back from release, be it the writer still writing or the publisher waiting for 'the right time', but it really does not look like either the writer or publisher strung this out to 5 books to make more money.  Those who have understood better the abuse background for both characters and seen how Eva's recovery from it has worked but that Gideon still has a long way to go, surely realised more writing was needed.

And one last thought (Sunday morning ramblings) - Gideon's mother did not believe he had been abused - so he has backed away from her, treats her coldly, does not act as if he loves her - how come at no point did it ever occur to her to find out why he acts like that?  I'm interested to find out why her husband did not know about the accusation, although Gideon thought he did know.
