  1. Well, I was just reading Sylvia's facebook page discovering someone else had already received their book (sent from the UK to Australia so the lady said it was probably posted early to ensure it was received on time and as luck would have it, the book arrived early).  That made me go to Amazon to check the progress of the order for my paperback (in the hope it might be ready to send and I might get it on Monday).  To my horror I discovered delivery date was 12th April.  I'd pre-ordered on the same order as some other items which I received back in November, but because the other items cost meant I had free delivery, my One With You order was being treated the same.

I tried to cancel that part of the order so I could order again with delivery on day or publication but their system would not let me.  So I began a chat with one of their assistants who was very helpful, cancelled what remained of my existing order so I could re-order with next day delivery (which means publication date), then said he would waive the delivery cost which was £5.99 - as it was their system had already applied a discount to the order delivery so my total for book and delivery had become £5.99 so once he credited the £5.99 my copy of One With You is now free.  (That means I will add the cost to my 'windfall' money box and the contents of that eventually go to charity)

I understand, I like to have all of the books in a series already published because I get so anxious, I absolutely love the Crossfire Series and have read them several times which I will do with OWY.

Thank you for sharing the other interview. I am really excited to meet her on Monday and start OWY at midnight. I am trying to think of what questions I would like an answer to that she will feel comfortable answering.

What chapter are you on now?

Last night I read the chapter where Gideon meets with Corinne to try and convince her not to publish the book - in this chapter he 'ended up back on track' with Arnoldo.

Tonight is the chapter with the swing, tomorrow Gideon without Eva and Monday the final chapter plus the first chapter of One With You from the web site and then fingers crossed by the time I've read those (I begin reading at about 23.30) my e-book will have appeared and I will then force myself to stay awake to read the whole book.   I've found reading a chapter a day has been useful, I've spotted things I'd not really taken in before and helps cope with the time before the book is ready.

  3. Not sure I will read the Blacklist bit straight away.  In the past I read other authors 'bits at the back of the book' and then forgot about them.  Then, when I had the actual book and began reading I was convinced I'd read the book already because it was familiar.

Just found another interview with Sylvia this week, she confirms in it that the timescale is June to September.

Thank you for keeping me posted on the Twitter q&a. I appreciate it.

Did you see the interview from star-telegram.com?

I did pretty much what she said in the radio interview.  Now looking forward to the Blacklist due, hope it won't be long before they are released.

  5. I've said this before, I don't think in the timeline of this story that Eva can become pregnant.  Sylvia has said that the entire storyline is approximately 4 months.  Captivated covered two weeks, not sure how much time One With You covers but maybe 2-3 weeks?  Eva had a period at the end of Captivated and yes, I know some women do have periods but are pregnant, but it doesn't seem likely that she is going to have a honeymoon baby.  If the book does cover 2-3 weeks we wouldn't reach a point where she would be due her next period so there would be no clue for her as to pregnancy.  And to be honest the last thing I would wish on a couple such as these, particularly Gideon who has only just discovered someone loves him for himself, a baby in the immediate future would not be a great idea.  I'd love an epilogue though with either Eva announcing a pregnancy in a special way, or with them surrounded by one or two children.

They need to establish themselves, Gideon as a husband, Eva as both a wife and in her future role in the charity.  Also, having a child seems to be such a cliché in almost every book I read so it would be nice to have a different ending.

Four days and we will know for sure.

Sylvia is at the moment on line answering questions on twitter, one person called her prolific and the answer was "Well, I used to be prolific, once upon a time. Now, I write 1 book/yr & labor over every one" - very honest of her and I for one appreciate the time she takes to ensure the books are so good.  I don't care how long we wait so long as we get the right story.

She's also mentioned that the final book is very different to the first two drafts she made of it, but the final one is where she got it right.

Ah - and to someone asking where Sylvia saw Gideon and Eva in 10 years time - "Solidly settled and contemplating having children. :)"

She was asked if they have an HEA but just said we will find out on Tuesday.

Asked which POV she preferred to right "I enjoy both, but the #GideonEffect tops all. Yes, #OneWIthYou is dual POV. :)"

Question - "Ava's an only chiid & Gideon isn't close to his half-sibs. How many kids do you think GidEva will have?" Answer "I would guess 2 or 3"

(I'll add more as they appear on twitter so the details are all on here.)

  6. Hmm, on Facebook again, someone else was able to buy the book last week and has read it, but they have had the courtesy not to spoil the story, "Already reading it ...found it at Book World last weekend ..it amazing!!!"

Nothing like completely ignoring an embargo on putting stuff out for sale.

I'm thinking that conversation was about Christopher.  Gideon was a bit self absorbed and wouldn't be following what happened to Christopher back then.  Indeed, Hugh may have told them that Gideon hurt/abused Christopher when it was really Hugh doing the damage.

As for Gideon's red-headed receptionist, I really have felt that this girl is related to Hugh/Anne but that the connection is not well known - different last name and all.  Possibly Hugh's wife was pregnant when Hugh killed himself.  If the wife remarried, the child could have a different last name and maybe Gideon didn't follow all the threads.

Hugh had a child, a boy, just a few years old - Gideon told Eva this.  Gideon said the statute of limitations had run out for him by the time he was able to confront Hugh - I've no idea how many years after an event that runs out.  Not sure what SoL Sylvia was using, my search shows that for rape there is no limitation so he can't have been going after Hugh for rape, even though that was what Hugh did to him.  Not sure if anyone has knowledge of the US SoL so we can put a timescale to this to see how old roughly Hugh's son could be?  Gideon was maybe 12 when he was abused and is now almost 29.  Say Gideon confronted Hugh when he was maybe 19 Hugh's young son could be around 5 so may now be 15?  Not sure if Hugh having a son is significant - if he was maybe 2 years older than I guestimated could he be Ireland's boyfriend??

I liked that today's teaser was Gideon.

Thanks to her...what could that mean...

    did she save if life

    is she pregnant

    AHHHH!!!!

    I'm going to go crazy!

I really don't think she is going to be pregnant (other than in any epilogue for their future life).  The entire story is, I believe, 4 months of timeline and she's had 3 periods in that time, including one just at the end of Captivated By You (this was after she left him, just after she answered the phone to him whilst on her way to work) so at the start of One With You she is definitely not pregnant and at least 3 months of time has already passed.  Also Sylvia did say something about this couple not being anywhere near ready to have children, they really do need to have time together and really get to know each other.

He built his empire mainly to ensure the Cross name became respected again (and to keep his mother in the manner she was accustomed), and also he's kept the Vidal record label afloat when it was sinking, to ensure Ireland's inheritance was secure.  I guess until Eva turned up he had no other reason to maintain the empire and grow it.  Now he has, as he has their future to consider (and I'm sure he'll be hoping children will be in their future),  maybe it is just the fact that Eva exists and is 'his' that he is thankful for?

I never thought about Anne being the therapist, that just makes it even sicker.

Thinking about it, Lucas would be more likely to be covering for his wife than his brother in law. Anne may have looked different in her mid 20's or he might just not remember. That would be such a crazy twist to the story.

I have a very, very, vague recollection of Gideon saying something to Eva along the lines of - when you find out what happened you WILL want to leave - I could be wrong (I've read so many books with that kind of comment in them) and I did a kindle book search for the phrase 'leave me' and a few others and didn't find anything relevant, but the scenario of Anne being the therapist and Gideon getting involved with her could be what he meant (if he had said that).  As I write this though I'm thinking that if the depraved way he had sex with Anne was his idea of punishing her it went wrong because it would seem she enjoyed it and would like more.

I realise Gideon has not said much about Anne either to Eva or in his thoughts but we know he is not great at revealing all to Eva and his mind may open up to us a lot more in this book.

We still need to know how he knew about the sex swing, although I guess a lot of males do look at p*** on line and he may have seen it there.

Today I will be reading the chapter with the elevator scene, that one always makes me cry.

  9. Sylvia's latest question on Facebook and Twitter:  "Was it wrong of Eva to disclose Gideon’s past to his stepfather?"

Eva didn't realise Christopher did not know about the abuse so she technically wasn't disclosing anything to him so I'm okay with that.  But she was confronting Christopher about how she thought he had 'turned a blind eye' to his stepson being raped and here is where I am not so sure she should have got involved.  I know she was doing this out of her love for Gideon and her need to  confront those who had wronged him BUT she objects to Gideon's methods of protecting her, and he specifically told her he did not need her to fight his battles.  This is a little like that scene at the start of Captivated where she is telling Gideon she is confused over her feelings for Brett yet tells Gideon he is an a****** and has hurt her badly by mentioning Corinne (bearing in mind Eva was caught in an embrace with and kissing Brett whereas Gideon has - I believe - not been caught doing any such thing with Corinne).

  10. I suspect the line that says 'Clancy had made sure Gideon would never pay for it' (Nathan) means that story line is over and done with.

jmhope - so right, Corinne was the past.  Yes she had appeared briefly in the present but just for a few days, only in public, and immediately prior to his announcing his engagement and forthcoming wedding to someone else.

As to Monica's almost panic about Eva giving up her hard-earned privacy, could this be more a panic about Monica losing her own privacy?  As Eva's mother there would be press interest in Monica and her background.  When she asks Eva if she's discussed this with Gideon "I can't see him agreeing to this" does Gideon know some of Monica's past (he will surely have done a background investigation).  Eva notices fear tightening her mother's mouth and shadowing her eyes and this may not be just for Eva.

  11. I don't think we will get chapter 2, Sylvia said to someone either on Facebook or Twitter that we would get two more chunks of chapter 1 before the book was released and we have had those - plus the two excerpts on blogs (would be nice if we got another of those).

But we know from this that she is going home to her own apartment, not to the penthouse, although that doesn't rule out that Gideon will join her there.

Do we know how long ago it was that Anne had her affair with Gideon? Have any of you now re-reading the books come across a timeline?

It always happens, no matter how careful the publishers are, that some people manage to get their hands on hot new books ahead of release day. I remember years ago with the Harry Potter books I heard of people somehow getting their hands on copies. I don't resent fans who do. I consider them lucky. The only people I would resent would be those who post spoilers. Speaking of, did you all see the spoiler thread the site administrator set up? I like the idea the thread is locked down until release day. Kudos to the staff person who set that up. She (or he) should get a raise.

Just seen a Facebook post from Sylvia that displays for One With You are beginning to go up in bookstores - wonder if that was what the person saw rather than the book itself?

  13. I'm watching Henry Cavill (and Ben Affleck) on Graham Norton - as he was (in his own words) loser for the James Bond role last time it was up for grabs, there's a chance he might  try and get the role if Daniel Craig really is leaving.  If so he'd definitely not be up for Crossfire.  I still think he's a little too bulky for Gideon but that's purely because of my own interpretation of a guy being built but lean - to me Henry is a little bigger than lean.  I feel for whichever actor does get the role, he's got to fit so strong a description, be able to sing, look amazing in a suit, be unrecognisable in jeans, t shirt and baseball cap (and having seen David Gandy with his baseball cap trying to look like he isn't David Gandy, sorry he looks like David Gandy wearing a baseball cap) and a lot more.  But hopefully there is someone out there who can do it.

  14. I can't establish a timeline for Anne Lucas from what is in the books.

Gideon met Corinne during his first year at Columbia, two years later they got engaged, one year later broke it off.  So meeting Anne will be after that.

He challenged Hugh after the statute of limitations for him presumably prosecuting Hugh had run out, Hugh commits suicide and I assume getting together with Anne came after that once he realised she was (a) Lucas wife and (b) Hugh's sister.

In searching through the e-book just for the word 'Lucas' I came across something in CBY where Gideon says to Eva "If I hadn't used Deanna to send a message to Anne that the door was closed between us, she would've been just a one-night stand.  Over and done with."  I thought she was a one night stand?  He had said earlier in the storyline "She was a mistake in every sense.  She made herself available once, and I make it a rule to avoid overly eager women a second time."  and further down the page "I used Deanna to keep Anne from approaching me.  I didn't feel good about it afterward and I didn't handle it well."

  15. Just seen a comment on Facebook that some US stores are already selling the book - disappointing if they are - if it was a day or two before publication a mistake could have occurred but this far away it is unforgiveable to put the book out.  So let's hope no-one gives the storyline away.  Surprised that copies have already been sent to the stores, after last year's problems it might have been wise of the publishers not to distribute the books until a couple of days before release.

In my re-reading chapter of CBY last night I picked up on this:

Gideon speaking to Eva about his visits to Dr Petersen: "You're assuming Hugh is the problem," I said evenly, feeling the burn of hatred and humiliation in my gut.  "We've been talking about my father instead." She recalls he has two ways of waking from his dreams - ready to beat someone up or crying like his heart is breaking and she knows the former is to do with Hugh.

  16. I like the fact that Gideon cries and that Eva accepts that he does.  Some would see that as a sign of weakness, but it is a very human reaction. and this character, at the age of 5,  had to face his parents falling out and then his dad killing himself.  Accepted a new man in place of his dad, a younger brother who his mother doubtless made more of a fuss of than she did of Gideon (understandably as a new mother, and with a son that was already playing up) and then when pregnant again mother brings in a therapist who, instead of solving the child's problems, adds to them.  Couple that with his brother growing up and having a grudge against him, not really having got to know his step-father but having to bail his company out rather than see his mother again lose her lifestyle unsurprising that when he finds someone who really does care for him he is able to show his emotions which have been kept very much under wraps for years.

And of course towards the end of CBY when Eva is slipping away from him he becomes 'needy' because he cannot contemplate life without her.

  17. I think release is midnight in local time wherever you are, so Australia get it first but the States they may ensure the whole country gets it at the same time regardless of time zone??CBY took about half an hour to arrive on my kindle so I'd given up and bought it again from iTunes which gave it me within minutes of purchase but I've gone for Kindle again this time.  I'm only bothered about pre-ordering the hard copy as the digital you can buy and download straight away anyway so I often wonder why some people get very wound up months before a book release because there's no pre-order.  And yes, Amazon are great at ensuring the books arrive on release day, although for me if they come by post they arrive at around mid-day, or by Amazon delivery then any time up to 19.00 in the evening, but I rely on getting the e-book first.

Of course there will be a happily ever after! No doubt about it: this is, after all, a romance novel. But HOW will GidEva get there? Get from point A (the obstacles in their marriage) to point HEA (figuring out how to make it work)? I can't wait to see how Sylvia accomplishes it, but I'm sure it will be great, a real page-turning ride.

What's got me wondering (and worrying) is the 'dark moment'. The point where all seems lost. Every romance novel has a dark moment (or moments). In fact, all novels have a turning point in the story where the heroes/heroines face some crisis/defeat. BTY dark moment: Eva found out the reason Gideon ditched her the night they first made love was because he rushed off to help Corrine, a woman he'd wanted to marry, a woman still in love with him and still part of his life. RIY dark moment: Eva found out the reason Gideon blew her off yet again: he took Corrine to the hotel. Both of those dark, dark moments for Eva. I cry every time I re-read the scene where she called him up after seeing the newspaper picture of him and Corrine. EWY dark moment was Gideon's: Corrine tried to kill herself over him, and her unborn baby died. CBY dark moment was Gideon's too: Eva walked out on the marriage.

So, what's gonna be the OWY dark moment, and whose dark moment will it be? Eva or Gideon? I think it'll be his. My guess is something dark from his past becoming public.

May not be Corinne this time - Ann or his mother?  Ann wants to attack Gideon via Eva, Elizabeth seemingly hates Eva because she is taking her son away from her.  Hmm, doesn't she realise she lost him when he was around the age of 12, possibly even when he was 5 and his dad killed himself after committing a crime and the constant arguments with Elizabeth - Gideon must have been party to some of those rows, and of course although we know his father shot himself we don't know where or how - did Geoffrey do it while Elizabeth and Gideon were out or were they in and heard the gun shot?  Who discovered the body?

But the revelation of something from his past is a very good theory, and wouldn't surprise me as we know there is still more for us to learn.

  18. Sylvia posted a link to the scene on Facebook with the following words:

"Who wants to start their week with a scene from ‪#‎OneWithYou‬?"

So presumably it is from the book.

I wonder if Eva's decision to quit is more that she really needs to get a move on to arrange the wedding and it would be simpler if she were not working?  Once that is over with she can start on the charity work.  She was giving a surprisingly short notice of leaving if going on the Friday of the week the book opens with.

One of the videos Sylvia posted on Facebook has Eva thinking 'Had I demanded more of him than I had of myself?'.  That could be why she is back in his bed, he's been opening up which we know is hard for him to do and to deny him the closeness he needs would not be fair.

In about two weeks most of us will know for sure.

The chapter of CBY I read last night had the confrontation with Christopher.  I noted Gideon's thought:  'It was the sad truth that I brought out the worst in my brother.  The only times he ever acted cruelly or rashly was when he was trying to hurt me.  I'd seen him give brilliant speeches, charm people with his natural charisma, and impress board members with his industry savvy, but he never displayed those traits towards me.'  I'm assuming Gideon is classing Christopher's treatment of Magdalene in the 'trying to hurt me' genre of actions.  Something has to have happened as a child over Christopher - maybe whatever that was has something to do with Elizabeth's attitude to Gideon's abuse?  Gideon is obviously oblivious to whatever it was - could he have been having nightmares even before the abuse, as a result of his father's suicide and in his sleep did something to Christopher who feels that Gideon has always wanted him dead?  Not certain how old Christopher actually is, Gideon was 5 when his dad died, his mum re-married quickly so assuming Gideon was 7 when Christopher was born and Gideon is about to be 29, Christopher has to be 21/22 so quite young in the business world.

I just re-read that excerpt, I don't know why I have a funny feeling but it's probably because he was rushing out so early and why he asked "You're staying home today, right?" then she said wait, you've got a dozen of those ties? Which he replied "It's your favorite, then said again "Home, right?" I don't know why he wants to make sure she is staying home. I mentioned earlier that I thought they were arguing it's probably because he told her to stop nagging him and called her grumpy.  My mind is racing I'm so excited about the book coming out so I think I'm getting anxious. I just love this series so much!!

Wonder if he wants to be sure she will be at home because he has a surprise delivery for her???

Also if you are an iBooks user you can now get a sample of One With You - it is just the parts of Chapter 1 from Sylvia's web site but it means you have it to hand.  Go to the book on iTunes and below the purchase button is 'get sample' - mine took a little while to actually appear on my device - iTunes has nested all the novels into one folder on my iPad and I only discovered it just now because I found most of the Day novels needed updating (Captivated has minor text changes and others something to do with extras has changed - not sure what the extras are as I can't see them).

They've been somewhere by plane, not sure why she worries he will catch cold (may depend on where they have just been?).  They've only just got home (he went straight into the shower when they got home and his hair is still wet)  As usual he is full of energy, she isn't.

I don't think they've been arguing, she's just tired and probably not really looking forward to her mom and the consequent talking about the wedding where Monica will have her own ideas which will not match Eva's.

    Hmm, Gideon in just a blue tie . . . . .  .

Just realised the cold comment may be due to the old wives tale about going out with wet hair can cause a cold.
