 Hi Sharonm745, I think that Gideon’s lawyers could absolutely prove reasonable doubt. Although no one was with Gideon consistently throughout the evening (i.e. fire department, insurance adjusters, guests, etc.) I am sure that more than enough people could have seen him walking around intermittently throughout the evening that a good portion of his time could be accounted for.  If you also factor in that people wouldn’t have been checking their watches during the evening that would provide even more reasonable doubt and provide even more of an alibi. What does everyone else think?

  Hi Sharonm745, You make a good point. I wonder if Eva might be having a bit of a hard time with the entire concept of marriage. Could it be that she may be afraid to actually voice that out loud because she has always been afraid of losing Gideon? Isn’t that what made Eva hesitant about marrying Gideon in the first place? What do you think? What does everyone think?Â

 Hi Julie, I don’t know if Christopher Jr. has had a visit from Deanna yet.   What beans could Jr. spill about his brother without making himself look like a serious but*head? If Jr. mentioned something about Gideon’s past abuse, he would open his mother up to public scrutiny. I don’t know. So many scenarios, but who knows?Â

  Hi Jmhope, Perhaps the Vidal’s don’t go to charity events that deal with child abuse because: They might that if they went, it might support Gideon in his “delusions†of having been a child of rape. This is just a thought. Or maybe they don’t really care about the issue of child abuse. Perhaps they allocate their charitable funds elsewhere. Or maybe they have been told in no uncertain terms by Gideon to stay away. Maybe Gideon will not tolerate the presence of his mother (the woman who never believed her own son about the horrible abuse that he was suffering from) or the step-father who may or may not have paid off the men who abused him and the doctors who helped to cover up the crimes. Those might be possible scenarios. What does everyone else think?

Hi Peachies, I liked that too. Eva was able to offer comfort and support to Gideon almost like a mom would to her child when they were upset by something. What I saw during that scene was unconditional love, no sex required.Â

Hi Sscrph, There are many different avenues of where and how to write a review. There are several websites that allow their readers to post their reviews:  1. www.dearauthor.com 2. www.goodreads.com 3. www.barnesandnoble.com  You choose which ever site that you want to, register and then write what you thought about the book. What did you like about the book (characters, storylines, timelines, plots, scenes, language, writing styles, length of the book, etc. ) and what didn't you like about the book (same as above are just some examples).  You might also make suggestions as to what you think might have made the book better or future books better. All you are doing is writing about what you like and why you like it. I hope this helps. I hope I have understood what you were getting at.Â

Hi Everyone, After reading chapter 8 I wondered how Ian Hager knew that it was Gideon who punched him in the face. During the first book, Ian was described as being out of it; his pupils were dilated and his affect was creepy yet flat. How did Ian put two and two together?

 Hi Julie, What we know for a fact is that Gideon married Eva for emotional security. They both settled down afterwards. The legal issue about a wife not being able to testify against her husband was just an added bonus and most likely an after-thought.  My question would be how could the detectives prove that Gideon told Eva about the murder before they were married and not after? I couldn't see how they could possibly do that. Isn't the question for the detectives (or the criminal courts), when did Eva find out that her husband committed a crime or does none of that matter?  Anyone with legal expertise want to chyme in here?Â

I am sure that Monica would settle for nothing less than a huge bash. What I wondered about was whether they would include some of their original vows. it would be like a little secret between the two of them that no one else would know about. I couldn't see those two prattling off standard vows. It would almost seem cold and impersonal. Who knows? I guess we the readers will have to wait and see what Gideon and Eva tell Sylvia...

Hi Insideofclouds, Regardless of whether Tatiana is a source for Deanna or not, I could just see trouble brewing all over the place. Somehow I couldn't see Tatiana keeping her hands off of Gideon, especially being such close proximity to him. I could see her accidentally walking in unannounced or waiting for him by the elevators and such. If Tatiana moves in with Cary it could spell disaster for their relationship. I am not sad about that at all...boo hoo...not! Cary deserves better!

Hi MVince, Welcome to the forum! I hope you enjoy yourself.  I think that Gideon married Eva for the emotional security that act provided. It seemed to settle both Eva and Gideon down afterwards. You are correct that in most cases; a wife cannot testify against her husband (unless she wants to).Â
