  1. I don't think Eva's conflicted feelings have anything to do with romantic feelings for Brett. I think she meant to tell Gideon that her friendship with Brett would be harder to cut off then she once thought. Also, she could be thinking "I know I'm gonna flirt with him, better tell Gideon before he jumps to conclusions." Flirting can be done without any motive to go further physically.

On Eva not telling her mother about the engagement, I think she did it on purpose as a way to get back at her for Monica tracking her whereabouts. Eva might be taking having a life separate from her mother to an extreme. And if she knew Gideon was going to confirm speculation that day, she would have told her right away instead of waiting a couple days.

We also have to keep in mind that Eva is only 24 and this relationship is became really intense really fast. Even if someone is more mature in many ways compared to other their age, 24 is still really really young. If she is having conflicting feelings, I don't blame her. She knows she would never leave Gideon and their marriage is a safe place, so her conflicting feelings of flirting with Brett or still staying friends might not seem like a danger to her. Corrine does not just was friendship from Gideon, so there is more of a threat there.

One last thing, we don't know Brett's feelings on the sex tape. He was probably just as clueless as Eva so we can't assume she should be mad at him about it.

I agree with the reminder that Eva is only 24 and a damaged, low self-esteem 24 at that.  I do, however, believe Eva is conflicted and confused about her feelings for Brett.  I have always found her reactions to him based on her stated feelings for Gideon to be difficult to understand.  I was especially bothered by the fact that Eva texted Brett the Tuesday after she married Gideon just to say hi with a smiley face.  Unlike Gideon, at this moment I hope Eva's belief that Dr. Travis can/will help is well placed.

  2.

I loved that we're going to get POVs from both Gideon and Eva. That allows us to read parts of the history that we hadn't had previous access to (stuff that happens to Gideon and we only heard about it later when he told Eva). I want to read his POV during the all-boys (my guess) party at Arash's. I want to see how he relates to his friends, and what he tells them about Eva.

This book is going to be more difficult to read than the 3rd one (kinda like the 2nd one). When Gideon's issues really arrive to the table, they're going to fight, because Gideon prefers to repress it, pretend it's not hapenning (or that he can deal with it inside his head, on hiw own), while Eva likes to talk and disscuss everything. She wants to help him, and he thinks he doesn't need help.

I think Eva is the stable one right now, and I love that she's being positive when she could stay mad (like in the apartment, in the car, in the office, etc). However, I think she's putting too much emphasis on what she may or may not feel about Brett. In the previous books, I hadn't felt that her feelings could be anything more than simple ######, therefore easy to ignore when he wasn't around. But at least she's not afraid to identify and try to "fix" her issues. She's probably going to talk about it with Dr. Travis.

    What do you guys think?

I hope Dr. Travis can help Eva resolve her feelings regarding Brett ASAP.  Every time he calls, shows up, talks, sings...she has very strong reactions.

The Tuesday after she marries Gideon she sends Brett a text "Just quick hello with smiley face".  Why?

  3.  Jason Mraz - I Won’t Give Up Lyrics | MetroLyrics

When I look into your eyes

It's like watching the night sky
    Or a beautiful sunrise
    There's so much they hold
And just like them old stars
I see that you've come so far
To be right where you are
    How old is your soul?

    [CHORUS]

Well, I won't give up on us
Even if the skies get rough
I'm giving you all my love
    I'm still looking up

And when you're needing your space
    to do some navigating
    I'll be here patiently waiting
    To see what you find

'Cause even the stars they burn
Some even fall to the earth
We've got a lot to learn
    God knows we're worth it
    no! i wont give up

I don't wanna be someone who walks away so easily
I'm here to stay and make the difference that I can make
Our differences they do a lot to teach us how to use the tools and gifts
We got yeah we got a lot at stake
And in the end, you're still my friend at least we did intend
For us to work we didn't break, we didn't burn
We had to learn, how to bend without the world caving in
I had to learn what i got, and what i'm not
    And who i am

    [CHORUS]

I won't give up on us
Even if the skies get rough
I'm giving you all my love
    I'm still looking up
    Still looking up

I won't give up (No I'm not) on us (Giving up)
God knows i'm tough enough (I am tough) (I am loved)
We got a lot (We're alive) to learn (We are loved)
God knows we're worth it (And we're worth it)

    [CHORUS]

I won't give up on us
Even if the skies get rough
I'm giving you all my love
    I'm Still looking up

When you read "At the brightest time in our lives, darkness of his past encroached and threatened everything we'd worked so hard for." and think back on on their past together, this song seems to fit where Eva and Gideon are and are headed.

  5. Just looked at the "Amazon Best Sellers Rank"

     For Captivated by You

    Congratulations Sylvia!!!!

  6. The redhead who told Eva "You're a fortunate young lady." in chapter 7 of Bared to You is believed to be Anne Lucas.  I do not remember Anne being positively identified in any of the first three books yet she is often referred to in various Crossfire topic forms as someone who will be trouble for Gideon.  We know her husband hates (not a word I use lightly even when referring to a fictional character) Gideon but there are not any examples of Anne or anyone thought to be Anne attacking him.  Could she have moved on?  Does she know or could she find out about Gideon's threat to her brother?

Gideon thinks Anne's husband, "...Maybe (loves Anne) as much as I love you (Eva). Enough to overlook her cheating and cover up for her brother.."  Dr. Terrence Lucas and Jean-Francois Giroux could be the demons coming out of their wives shadows or not

  7. Do you think Corinne knew she was pregnant when she left Giroux?  While she was in New York?  We know her husband knew the child was his.  Will Corinne turn out to be so lovesick for Gideon she was willing to sacrifice her child or was she drugged into suicidal behavior? I do not think the idea of when she knew has been discussed.

    PS

    I hope it was drugs

  8. Later on in that same chapter, Chapter 10.....Eva wants to know what Corrine wanted besides him, that is when she explains the difference between mad at a guy and being teary over him. this is on page 143-144. Gideon finally says "Well, that changes things considerably, "There's nothing more she and I need to say to each other."

Now Gideon knows, but Corrine pulls a big one by trying to kill herself to get him back. Too late, Eva and Gideon are MARRIED.

Anyways 11/18/2014 can't get here soon enough!!

He says there is nothing more they need to say yet he rushes to the hospital when his mother calls about Corinne's attempted suicide.  I do think he goes out of guilt but her husband is there.  When will he step away?

I can not wait to read her reaction when Corinne finds out Gideon and Eva are married.  I hope it is in Captivated By You!

  9. In Entwined with You Gideon gets a phone call from Corinne.  His side of the conversation went like this:

"I appreciate that you thought of me, but no,"..."Of course we're friends.  You know why...I can't give you what you want from me."..."Stop, This isn't the tack you want to take with me Corinne."

    Gideon is too nice!

Throughout the first three books, he has always taken her calls and often gone to her assistance.  In this conversation he has already told her he is not interested yet she continues to pursue him.  In several topic forms fans want Corinne gone but we must have some change in Gideon's behavior to make this happen.

  10. Yes Betty that is very true but in Corine and Deanna's case ; they have no place in Gideon's life now that he is a married man so as Eva says they need to be weaned off and put away... Anne Lucas can definitely be considered a demon and perhaps her husband. I believe they are both a true danger to Eva and need to be dealt with and defeated so to speak. Elizabeth Vidal is a different story because she will be in Gideon's life in the future and that relationship needs to be repaired. Eva wants Gideon happy, healthy, and whole and she is a big key to this. As for Ireland , that relationship can be anything Gideon wants it to be because it is pure and untainted. Gideon just has to want it . I think Magdalene is a non issue. She was truly just a friend and a case of un requited love on her part. At least she is stable and it looks like she is moving on despite the rejection unlike Corinne...

    Regarding Ireland

Gideon is in control of his relationship with all of the women I mentioned.  My recollection is he feels he made mistakes with all of them except Ireland.

He has had no relationship with her until Eva insists he talk to her by whispering in his ear, "Because I'll owe you one." at the garden party in Bared to You.

By the end of Entwined with You, he is texting Ireland.  It is too early to know whether he wants the relationship for himself or he is doing it because Eva wants it.  Either way, the evolution should be interesting.

    SSCRPH

I like what you said (above).

We agree Corine and Deanna should have no place in Gideon's life but they do.  My recollections are he was investigating Corine's medication that may have contributed to her attempted suicide and he had given Deanna a "48 hour" exclusive for his wedding photos.  Because of their feelings for him and these actions on his part, they will both continue to be a part of this story.  The question is how long and how will he get rid of them or finally put them in a place in his life where he and Eva are comfortable.

I take a small exception to your view of Magdalene.  I would not be surprised to find her ultimately becoming a very close, important friend of both Eva and Gideon.  When she visits Eva's office to warn her about Deanna, Eva acknowledges "Oddly, I found myself at ease with her."  The fact that she has moved to a different plane emotionally regarding Gideon, her stable nature, and more then anyone else Magdalene seems to be for their relationship for the right reasons by the end of Entwined in You, she is a nearly perfect ally to help from the outside going forward.

  12. The "shadow" that most intrigues me is Ireland Vidal.  Gideon has not figured out how to relate to her.

Eva has noticed since chapter 15 in Bared to You that Ireland has strong feelings for her eldest brother.  Gideon's response so far has been variations on "He scowled.  She's a teenage girl!  Why would I give her a chance to talk my ear off?"

Ireland says she does not know Gideon because he left home when she was very young yet she knows he loves Eva without being told.  When she attends the dinner party for Eva's father with Gideon, she picks up on the tension between her brother and his girlfriend in Reflected in You.  In Entwined in You, she encourages the couple's reconciliation at the Time Square premier.

Per Eva "Ireland was the one person in Gideon's family for whom he felt untarnished affection, although he tried hard not to show it.  I thought maybe he was afraid to be disappointed or afraid he might ruin it somehow...but Ireland hero-worshipped her brother and he'd kept his distance, even though he needed love terribly."

At the end of wedding ceremony, Eva named six people she missed and the fourth was Ireland, after her mom, dad, and Cary.  His sister is important to his wife too.

  13. In todays Penguin interview, Sylvia Day reiterated the last two books of her Crossfire series will focus on Gideon's demons and shadows.  (#CaptivatedbyYouinterview here: http://bit.ly/CBYInterview2 also

    ).

In the first three books, many women other then Eva were introduced that have strong connections to Gideon:

Anne Lucas; Corinne Giroux; Elizabeth Vidal; Ireland Vidal; Magdalene Perez; Deanna Johnson

None of these relationships have been fully resolved.  At the end of Entwined with You, they all still have some problem, dispute, or contentious matter for Gideon to address and are therefore among his shadows and demons.

Since this topic spans all five books, information about their past, predictions of the future, and seeing if the predictions are correct can generate interesting commentary.  In the next two books he must settle on some relationship with each of them.

  14. Hi BettyY37, this is why I love this site. Betty, that scenario didn't even occur to me in a whisper. I love all the banter that happens here. I do think that Sylvia has enough to write about with the trip to San Diego, the wedding, Corrine, Monica, & of course Gideon's demons. But you never know..I can't wait for this read!!!

Thanks  Me too.  I usually do not post the ideas I get because they can be far out but since we do not have the last two books yet, we can play around.

Real Teaser:  Monica and Victor see each other after nearly 25 years and end up in bed.

We know they still love each other but so far Sylvia has not allowed what appears to be trivial events turn out to be nothing.  What can happen from this? Remember there is another book after Captivated By You!

  15. How about Brett rebounding to Ireland after Eva dumps him/convinces him she is with Gideon.  Could be on purpose or accidentally.  Remember she is a Big Fan!  She is also very mature for her age.  It could explain why he may be around in chapters 11/12.  It could be tame or not but either way Gideon would definitely lose it!!

Not a plot line I would prefer but it would be an interesting twist.

  16. Okay. Sorry. You're right it was mentioned. Well don't I feel dumb now. Shows how much I know the story. Okay, no more comments from this person any more. Told you it was totally out of left field. Sorry for posting, I'll try not to anymore.

    Hi Skydive617

I agree with the other comments, you should continue to participate.  We have a lot of fun here.  I have not posted for awhile but I have been looking and waiting for Captivated By You.  Welcome!

    PS

As was stated ebooks are great for researching the details.  Also never be afraid to post an opinion.  We do not always agree but good dialogue can provide intellectual challenge and often leads to better understanding.

  17. I called Brilliance Audio today to find out about the release of the "Captivated by You" audio book.  They show the book is  available on November 18.  You can preorder the CD version and the MP3 that will be shipped on the publication date but information regarding preorders of Audible.com and iTunes versions was not available.  Brilliance does show audio versions for those formats will be produced

It maybe the print publisher does not want to lose sales to audio.

    P.S.

    Jill Redfield IS the narrator!!
