  1. I personally do not think Gideon would be interested in revisiting this part of his tragic past. In his own way he had his closure with Hugh even though he may regret the outcome. IMO I think the best option for Gideon is to move on in his life with Eva and enjoy all the aspects that a loving relationship with a spouse and future family would afford him. :). :)

Sorry for the missunderstanding.  I am not proposing Gideon revist Hugh but rather Crossfire Foundation maybe contributing to effort to get legislation passed or comment at the end of the book about the issues.

  2. It certainly is a beautiful song GLH.  On this one, I will have to agree with you.  I absolutely loved Etta James' rendition of the song.  Her voice is so soulfull, I gett goose bumps just thinking about it.  :)

We all know Etta was the best but she died last year so I thought since it is Gideon's wedding he could get Beyoncé because she played Etta in movie called "Cadillac" about the Cadillac Record Company

  3. "At Last" feels like a perfect song for the first dance of Eva and Gideon at their New York wedding.

These are Beyoncé lyrics so they might be slightly different from Etta James

At last my love has come along

    My lonely days are over

And life is like a song

    Oh yeah, yeah

At last the skies above are blue

My heart was wrapped up in clover

The night I looked at you

I found a dream that I could speak to

A dream that I can call my own

I found a thrill to press my cheek to

A thrill that I have never known

Oh yeah, you smile, you smile

Oh, and then the spell was cast

And here we are in heaven

For you are mine at last

  4. Since Crossfire not only is a wonderful love story but a presentation on the effect of childhood sexual abuse, perhaps Lionsgate could include a public service announcement. Gideon spoke of the statute of limitations preventing him from getting justice against Hugh but now the New York legislature and those in several other states have or are seeking to make it easier for victims to pursue justice as adults.

  5. Hi ladies,

I just wanted to qualify my last posting.  I think that if Elizabeth Vidal really did love Geoffrey Cross the way that has been suggested (i.e. that she was living an idealized life with him before the Ponzi Scheme was uncovered), then having Gideon keep the Cross surname would have been a way to honour the memory of her husband (a man whom she really loved).

When I made that comment, I did not include Geoffrey Cross' misdeeds.  I was only looking at it from the perspective of a woman who really loved her husband and may not believe that the charges that were levied against him were valid.  She could have been under the false impression that her husband was being railroaded.  Thanks.

I also feel the marriage was a loving one until the scandal.

Elizabeth, although not explicitly stated, did not seem to keep Gideon away from Hugh even after he told her of the abuse. Regardless of the doctor reports, she could have acted in a precautionary manner just in case. We have a lot of information regarding Dr. Terrence Lucas but none that I recall about the other doctor. Could he/she also have had an association with Anne?

  6. Today I read an interview that Sylvia gave. She discussed her expectations regarding the production of the Crossfire series by Lionsgate and that she expected they would include all the scenes necessary to present Eva's and Gideon's stories.

Being mainly familiar with American network television, presenting a significant amount of the content of these books will be difficult. I understand cable networks are more open and Sylvia stated she expected the series would be made for cable television. She recommended watching The Tudors with Henry Cavill and Games of Thrones as examples of well done television.

In the interview, Sylvia mentioned the limo scene as being pivotal because it introduces so much about the main characters. I think the flight to the Caribbean and the scene in the Vidal library along with the shower where Gideon helps Eva work through her fears after her nightmare are also extreme important to be produced.

  7. The wedding was a few years ago.

    We agree was magnificent.

    Plot line

Gideon is in a hurry. The Pierre is not available. He restores Tavern on the Green then after the wedding turns it over to Shawna and Arnoldo to run as a special events center. Then we see what happens. ;)

  8. Checked the web before I posted. Central Park.com said may reopen later this year, 2013. September 27, 2013 article said developer needs more money to open. Personally took pictures in summer 2012 and it was definitely closed and damaged. Only visitor center opened to distribute visitor information.

I do not know about Christmas. Maybe it was a partial restoration.

  9. His mother basically cut him adrift. Abandoned him, didn't protect him or believe him. Too wrapped up in her own world to see what was happening to her poor defenceless child. At least Monica believed Eva, and acted on it.

    We are in agreement

    The replay was for Avid_reader

Gideon has never told Eva to stay away from his mother. Whether he should or should not, he turns to her repeatedly.....his apartment, wanting know what Eva thought of Elizabeth, saving Vidal Records and the ultimate, wanting the love of his life to have the engagement ring that belong to his mother. The man has serious issues regarding Elizabeth.

  10. Have you ladies gone through the old posts.

We had some very intense discussions about these topics. They make interesting reads. Just a thought. :)

Hard to go back because there is so much. Sorry to be redundant

When did he go to his mother for help?

As a child he told her about his abuse, and she didn't believe him. Why would he trust her ever again. She is partly responsible for his demons.

I was referring to when he was abused. He asked his mother to help him and as you mentioned she did not believe him and that most certainly lead to many of his demons.

11. I made a comment earlier about the confrontation near the end of EWY between Eva and Lizzie about the ring and I thoight that happened because Luzzie thought Gideon took the ring for Corinne and she was surprised when Eva showed up with it. This was after the hospital as someone pointed out. I still maintain that Gideon asked mom for the ring when everyone thought Gideon and Corinne were an item. Lizzie called Gideon from the hospital and even JFG complained that you would think Gideonwas the hubby. Lizzie still thought thee was hope for Gideon and Corinne, not realizing or wanting to realize how 'together' GidEva were. That is why she went off on Eva at the dinner when she saw Eva with 'her' ring. I am not sure of the comment about you are not taking him away from me. Would not think Lizzie had much control over Gideon. Has me puzzled???

I think under the topic of "Mothers and Fathers", I mentioned and others concurred, all of Gideon's women friends look like his mother and she is the only person other then Eva who has been to his home. Gideon also told Eva the reason he saved Vidal Records was to prevent financial hardship for his mother. His mother is the only one he says "did not love him enough." but when he was in trouble he went to her for help. She would appear to be a strong influence in his life.

I agreed with you about Elizabeth expecting the ring was for Corinne based on Gideon's behavior, past and present. I think that is why she called him to the hospital. I do not think she expected to see Eva. Only Giroux was not surprised.

Eva attacked Elizabeth first at the restaurant. Elizabeth was surprised that Gideon had told Eva about his alleged abuse. He had never shared that before. When Eva stood up to her regarding the ring, Elizabeth felt threatened.

  12. It is one of the many things I like about Sylvia's books. She gets to the expected HEA in a most unexpected way. She weaves a good story.

I wish you had told me that sooner. I might have waited until book five to start this...No I think I would rather suffer through their struggle with you guys and get to the HEA together.. (I am guessing HEA means "happily ever after")

  13. Which month are we in, for the Gideon and Eva saga? Do you think that Monica would be able to pull off a late September/early October wedding? The sooner the better I say...:)

The Plaza Hotel or the Waldorf Astoria Hotel both have fabulous reception sites....so does Tavern on the Green...oh so many choices...now where is the groom? :)

Tavern on the a Green has been closed for years and is a wreck. Gideon would have to restore it. Monica wanted The Pierre which is actually a more exclusive location.

I think book three ends in August.

Now that I think about it Tavern on the Green could eliminate the problem of the other venues already having been reserved and the Crystal Room is/was fabulous!! In the fall with Central Park trees changing color in the background and riding up in a hansom cab.....very romantic in the late afternoon

  14. Agree about the beautiful cathedrals. But I see them with a society wedding at one of Gideon's properties. Also, to keep the press away, don't you think they will have to go with a private venue? Maybe even Monica and Stanton's place. Certainly not the Vidal home. I don't think Gideon could bear that.

If Deanna is getting an exclusive, don't you think she will get an invite?

Gideon wants to shout it from the highest hills so nothing private

  15. I was shocked when Eva and Gideon got married in Entwined in You. Was anyone else?

I knew there were five books in the series by the time I finished Bared to You so I knew ETW would not be the final book. This is my first Sylvia Day series so are these types of surprises normal?

  16. Betty, that would be a real twist! Sooo good i'm gonna call it " A Twist and Shout from Vidal Records"

As you say that's the fun of the forum. Here we are, madly plotting and having fun.... when only Sylvia knows for real

    I absolutely love this. CSLOL...(C=can't; S=stop)

  17. This is a song originally recorded by Janice Joplin.  When I listened to it today I pictured Eva on her way to lunch with Mark and Steven at the Bryant Park Grill ....when she runs into Gideon.

"Take Another Little Piece Of My Heart"

Oh, come on, come on, come on, come on!

Didn't i make you feel like you were the only man ¡º yeah!
An' didn't i give you nearly everything that a woman possibly can ?
    Honey, you know i did!
And each time i tell myself that i, well i think i've had enough,
But i'm gonna show you, baby, that a woman can be tough.

I want you to come on, come on, come on, come on and take it,
    Take it!
Take another little piece of my heart now, baby!
    Oh, oh, break it!
Break another little bit of my heart now, darling, yeah, yeah, yeah.
    Oh, oh, have a!
Have another little piece of my heart now, baby,
You know you got it if it makes you feel good,
    Oh, yes indeed.

You're out on the streets looking good,
And baby deep down in your heart i guess you know that it ain't right,
Never, never, never, never, never, never hear me when i cry at night,
Babe, and i cry all the time!
But each time i tell myself that i, well i can't stand the pain,
But when you hold me in your arms, i'll sing it once again.

I'll say come on, come on, come on, come on and take it!
    Take it!

Take another little piece of my heart now, baby.Oh, oh, break it!

Break another little bit of my heart now, darling, yeah,
    Oh, oh, have a!
Have another little piece of my heart now, baby,
You know you got it, child, if it makes you feel good.

I need you to come on, come on, come on, come on and take it,
    Take it!
Take another little piece of my heart now, baby!
    Oh, oh, break it!
Break another little bit of my heart, now darling, yeah, c'mon now.
    Oh, oh, have a
Have another little piece of my heart now, baby.
You know you got it ¡º whoahhhhh!!

    Take it!
Take it! take another little piece of my heart now, baby,
    Oh, oh, break it!
Break another little bit of my heart, now darling, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
    Oh, oh, have a
Have another little piece of my heart now, baby, hey,
You know you got it, child, if it makes you feel good.

I know other places in the story are good too but the line "Yeah, out on the street" really made it fit that scene.
