  1. Anything is possible.  I wonder that if Elizabeth's stunt by bringing her son to the hospital will backfire on her friendship with Corrine's parents.  I don't think that they would have been too pleased with her actions.  What's worse Gideon brought Eva with him and I am absolutely sure that would have been like waving a red flag in front of some really angry bulls (i.e. Corrine's parents).  It would be easier for them to blame Eva for this entire mess instead of stepping back and looking at what had been going on in their daughter's life.

I hadn't even thought about Corrine's parents reaction. Of course they will blame Eva for their daughters actions. This is going to be messy at the beginning of book 4 don't you think?

  2. Hi Kirsten,

I don't agree with what Monica did at all!!  I don't support infidelity in the least!  I think that it was easy for Monica to cheat on Stanton because she was never in love with Stanton.  I am sure that she cared for him and probably loved him for what he did for Monica and her daughter but that is a far cry from being in love with someone and building a life together.

    I agree.

  3. It is funny that you say, because I was so upset with Monica during the last two books.  Her actions were disgusting at best and generally appalling overall, but she always had some way of apologizing for her actions.  I was constantly disappointed with her actions and judged her very harshly.

Whereas  with Elizabeth Vidal, I gave her the benefit of the doubt (not about believing her son- NO WAY EVER!!!!), but I thought that maybe she might take the time to reflect on her actions and appologize. NO WAY!!  If anything that woman just keeps revealing what a despicable human being she is turning out  to be.  The thing that clinched it for me was when Eva confronted Elizabeth Vidal after Elizabeth saw her engagement ring on Eva's fingers.

I don't know if Elizabeth has any hope, whether Monica may have some hope (because there is the possibility of hearing why she is so screwed up) or whether they should both be tossed into the discard pile.  Do you know what I mean?  What do you think?  What does everyone think?

I do know what you mean.

I can't come up with an excuse for Elizabeth you know. How do you not at this stage of the game acknowledge that you screwed up so your son can move on? Okay she is not privy to his private life, but after Eva confronted her, I expected some sort of action on her part, and not hostility. I get that when children are abuse their parents feel extremely guilty for not protecting them, but to make your child feel like you didn't believe them is disgusting.

  4. I wonder what is going to happen between Monica and Victor.  Will they get their happily ever after?

I don't know. I'm not sure I want them too. It really bothered me that Monica cheated on Stanton. Maybe things will come to light about Monica in the next two books, but right now I just don't think she has many redeeming qualities.

  5. Those are all really good questions too!   Maybe we will get the answers within the next two books (hopefully a paragraph or two).

In response to what you said, maybe the families were once close when Gideon and Corrine were engaged, but surely wouldn't that closeness have wained after Corrine  married someone else?  Why wasn't Corrine's husband's family there to support their daughter-in-law?  What do you think?

I think his family is probably in France. It's obvious that Corrine's parents don't care for him.

Maybe the families remained close because they travel in the same social circles. Maybe they just reconnected when this stupid plan of Gideon's started. Who the knows.

  6. Hi Kirsten,

I had a few thoughts about what you said.  You are absolutely correct, Gideon didn't have any business being at the hospital.  I think that would have sent the worst message to a woman who was already so incredibly mentally ill (the mentally ill part is my assessment-I don't know if you agree or not).  My assessment is that anyone who is willing to commit suicide and actually goes through with the act is suffering from some type of serious mental illness (temporary or long term remains to be seen).

It was apparent that the suicide attempt was severe enough that Corrine lost a baby over it.  To my knowledge, taking activated charcol and something else wouldn't be enough to induce an actual miscarriage but maybe someone with specific knowledge in relation to gynecology and obstetrics could more fully respond to this  point.  I don't if having one's stomach pumped would be enough of a stress on the body to induce a miscarriage.

I just think that although Gideon did tell Corrine that he wanted to be friends he also lead her on by letting her believe that there might be a possibility for more (double edged sword).  I think at some point Gideon needs to let Corinne off of the hook and be honest with her and tell her that she never stood a chance.  I think that may be the only thing that may keep this woman from going completely over the edge.  I think that Corinne kept beating herself up about having walked away from the "perfect guy" when he really never was.  Do you know what I mean?

I do know what you mean.

Golfergirl is our resident obgyn so hopefully she can respond to some of this.

I think Gideon must have had this talk with Corrine at some point. Was she to far gone at that point?

    Hi Kirsten,

I just wanted to add quickly, Elizabeth Vidal's actions at the hospital spoke volumes to me.  You are absolutely correct, she had no business being at the hospital, but what's worse is that she was capitalizing on another family's tragedy to try and further her agenda (either separating Gideon and Eva or what....), but her actions were horrendous!

I found it very interesting how Elizabeth physically came between Gideon and Eva to separate them and tried to guide Gideon over to where she wanted him to be.  No one from the Cross family should have been at the hospital.

To me Elizabeth Vidal's actions stated that she would use anyone or any circumstance to further her agenda.  What do you think?  What does everyone think?

That whole hospital scene bothered me. First I am thinking why does Gideon need to go? Then the whole thing with Elizabeth bothered me. I felt Eva's distress at being left standing all by her lonesome. Elizabeth is going to be a problem. She certainly does not like Eva after the confrontation and I think she is willing to do whatever necessary to break Eva and Gideon apart. I still can't understand how she didn't believe Gideon when he was younger.

  7. Hi Donnad,

What I saw during the prenup scenario was Eva's automatic negative reaction to something that Gideon had done.  What I really liked about that scenario is that instead of automatically going to find Gideon and lay into him, she went and took a shower and actually gave herself some time to calm down.  Then she actually looked at the document instead of rushing to snap judgements and making rash decisions.

For me that was huge progress on Eva's part.  Those actions told me that she was mentally heading in the right direction.  What do  you think?  What does everyone think?

I agree GiGi. The fact that she took that time to shower and think things threw and then went back to have a look at it, spoke volumes to me also.

  8. Hi Kirsten,

I know I responded to this thread before but something else just came to mind, do you think that the parents of Corrine and Gideon would have been listening and reading what the media had been writing about their children instead of asking those two.  I know that Corrine would have had a very skewed view of what was happening with her relationship with Gideon, but what's Elizabeth Vidal's excuse?  What do you think?  What does everyone think?

I am really confused by Elizabeth if I am to be honest. At the garden party it seems like she and Gideon have a strained relationship, yet we know that Gideon knows Eva confronted her when she was out to dinner, and Gideon has said that the only woman in his apartment has been his mother. I would think that if she called Gideon to ask about Corrine during the time that Gideon is trying to make them think he and Eva have gone their separate ways Gideon would have been vague.

As for Corrine, she certainly was feeling hopeful even though Gideon told her they would only be friends. I am sure she was playing it up to her parents. I found it odd that Christopher told Gideon to call her, and to stop sending her mixed signals. I think Corrine calling all over the place trying to get to Gideon is horrendous. Having said all this, I still don't understand why Gideon continues to run when she calls.

  9. Both books will be out within a year from entwined

According to my friend at a meet and greet the other day Sylvia said that we won't have Gideon on TV until all the books are out, so there is a deadline on when these books have to be released by I would imagine.

  10. Hi Nathalia,

I agree with you.  Why would anyone call Gideon when Corinne was in the hospital.  I would think that if anything Gideon's presence would simply be upsetting to all parties involved.  I am absolutely sure that Corinne's parents wouldn't have been thrilled to see Gideon.

I suspect that Elizabeth Vidal had a huge role in this.  What do you think?  What does everyone think?

I think they call Gideon because they honestly believe that he and Corrine are in a relationship.

  11. I guess at the end of the day, it will all depend on whether Monica deals with her issues about money and why it is so important for her to have it and also for her partners to have.  You may be right, in the end, even if Monica deals with her money issues she may still pass Victor over becuase he doesn't have any.  That is a separate issue in itself.  What do you think?  What does everyone think?

Honestly, I was appalled by Monica and Victor sleeping together. Cheating is a hard limit for me. I had enough of an issue with Eva and Brett in RIY never mind this mess. I don't expect much from Monica since she has not proven to me that she has a moral compass, but I certainly expected a of a lot more from Victor. I do have to hand it to her for being honest with herself saying she needs money.

  12. Hi Kirsten,

I think that someone has taken Megumi.  The who, the what, the when and the where I don't know.  What I found really odd was that no one had contact with her when she called in sick other than some woman named Sharon in the HR Department.  Who is this Sharon and would she know Megumi's voice if Megumi did indeed call in sick.

Why would Megumi just make a quick call to Eva or one of her friends to say hey I am sick especially when everyone had been concerned.  The exception to the rule might be if Megumi was in the hospital, but even then wouldn't her roommate make a quick call on her behalf to ease everyone's concerns?  What do you think?  What does everyone think?

I agree GiGi. I can't imagine that she has not phoned Eva back. It just doesn't add up. This ad agency they work for is supposed to be one of the best so I think it must be LARGE. How would this woman know Megumi's voice. I could even see that maybe Megumi could report to her daily so maybe she knows her voice, but the fact she is not calling Eva back is a big red flag for me.

  13. Hi Sharonm745,

I agree with you completely!  I found it really odd that no one had contact with Megumi near the end of the book.  What do you think?

Hi GiGi~ I can't imagine what is going on with Megumi. Why would she not call Eva back? That makes no sense. There has to be something going on here. Do you think Michael has done something to her?

  14. I think the Megumi storyline is playing itself out badly the way Gideon and Eva ought to have progressed badly but for the fact in their case, great love was involved.

    Here are some parallels:

Michael took Megumi to his parents' place in the Hamptons for the weekend. This is treating Megumi with a great deal of society respect, just like Gideon did when he took Eva out in public.

Things turned rocky soon though, with Michael running hot and cold. Similar to Gideon and his headtrips and that 4-day "break" from Eva over his nightmares.

Michael pulls the commitment-phobe move of refusing to contact Megumi for days. Who, Gideon, cut off contact with Eva? Um, yeah.

Megumi engages in a form of mercy sex and revenge by having a nooner with Michael and immediately dumping him. Parallels to Eva struggling with acting out to hurt Gideon, hating herself for acting out (like with Brett) but doing it anyway, because Gideon has her head spinning.

Things go really bad at the end with Michael, and Megumi is so devastated she can't get out of bed. (Because I think that's what's really "wrong" -- she's so depressed she can't function.) This is a sharp contrast to Eva, who did manage to get out of bed every day and go to work -- go to work at the Crossfire no less, an extremely emotionally-charged place. A lesser woman would have immediately quit her job and stayed in bed around the clock for days, but not New Eva.

I don't think they went to the Hampton's LN. They were supposed to go that next weekend, and if we follow the timeline that is the first weekend of EWY.

I don't get a good vibe with Michael. My first thought was that he was abusive.

  15. Hello Everyone ,I have been following the threads for months and have enjoyed them so mch and gotten so much insight ,it's good not to read in isolation.

Is it possible that Eva felt more for Brett in the past than she admitted even to herself and some of those feelings are surfacing now ?She has such an intense physical reaction to him that I fear going back to SD with all the memories they have there together may cause her to do something with him that will devastate her and Gideon especially if he catches at a vulnerable point because she seems unable to say no to him firmly and decisively .Is she strong enough enough to say no if he were to really push ?

Hi I am new to the boards, have been watching for a while.  I have been trying to get my registration accepted since May 30th, and somehow after the 4th email I sent I actually received an email from Sylvia today apologizing and saying it would be done today.

I love that I have found others that are as in love and obsessed with the series as I.

    Welcome ladies.  bth_cheerleader_5.gif

I don't particularly care for the thoughts Eva has about Brett. I am hoping with Sylvia talking about how much stronger Eva is now that she will be there and be able to resist Brett. I mean she's married, and she is going to see Dr. Trav, and her dad, so I have to hope that those visits ground her. Gideon is not letting her go without security. I go back and forth on whether or not he will insist on going.
