  1. This is what bothers me about the quote ; how can their vows expose old wounds and insecurities. Gideon is the one that wanted those vows more than anything and he piece of paper for the security of it. I just can't wrap my head around this quote and I have felt unsettled all day. I know it's just a book but it really bothers me. What do you all think?

I've been looking at this myself. Maybe Eva is afraid that her past is going to ruin Gideon. She got the sex tape, she's got him killing Nathan. I mean in all honesty Nathan being a POS doesn't take away the fact that Gideon killed him, and someone knows about it.

  2. Me too.  I just remember how I cried reading the interrogation scene when Eva & Gideon were hurting so badly.  I think there are going to be a lot of these scenes in this book.  I do hope Sylvia keeps with her tradition, and at least ending with a hopeful last paragraph.

I just got choked up with the reminder of that scene Sharon. I'm going to have my tissues ready. :)

  3. I have a theory. I think Captivated by You will be like Reflected In You. This will be the most painful story from Crossfire Series.

And book 5 will be like Bared to You and Entwined with You. The final series will have happy ending so it should be like it.

I agree with this post 100%.

  4. I agree, this is gonna be Eva's biggest struggle, having Gideon let her "in" so he can finally be at peace with his demons and not just suppress them. Once he's at peace then he can devote ALL of himself to Eva and their relationship.

Gideon needs the reassurance and validation that he never got from Lizzy. He needs to know that Eva loves him unconditionally, but until he trusts her completely he'll never be totally sure.

  5. No wsy he would pull away from his angel, something bad is happening any ideas??

I think that it's much easier to shutdown and avoid. Gideon's past is painful and he's going to be hurting and he doesn't want anyone to see him like that. Obviously Eva loves him and wants to help him, but will he let her? Does he trust her enough to let her completely in?

  6. what did Sylvia say when you said that.

I think like a few on here that like you said with the many characters in this book Sylvia could write more books, not just stop at book 5, I would love to see more books on these people and the characters in the books come more to life like Shawna, Steve and Mark etc.  I personally would buy any book that Sylvia wrote on these people or this series, the crossfire series could go on more than 5 books and I would love that :)

Someone else mentioned this. Sylvia said she thought she could wrap up the story in 3, but quickly realized because of the issues it was going to take more books. Sylvia wants to get them both to a good place, but doesn't want to beat a dead horse so to speak so I thought that was a great answer. Many people mentioned they wanted the series to go on for FOREVER. She also has a title in mind for the last book, but won't share that until she's positive about it.

  7. Sylvia explained it so much better than i did (obviously) but after talking to her it made me feel so much better about these two for some reason.

Sharon I think you felt better because you realize that Sylvia loves these two as much as we do. :)

Sylvia said she had to get Eva to a healthy place... strong so she could help Gideon deal with his issues. I also didn't get the sense that these two would be cheating. Eva does get herself into situations that aren't wonderful, but part of her healing is that she is able to walkaway without it becoming more so to speak. Old Eva would spread her legs or open her mouth for a man so she could feel loved. Even if it was only for mere minutes. New Eva realizes that she has to have more self respect. Dr. Travis helped her with a lot, but Gideon certainly has cemented that for her.  She might still find Brett attractive, but she is no longer seeking validation through random sexual experiences. It's been a long road, but Eva finally knows she is worthy of so much more then a quick f*ck.

  8. Question, did Sylvia advise how much time the next two books would cover. I would really like to know! I feel like they will need to skip over a few months at least. Especially for the big wedding!

I'm going to go through the thread and answer whatever questions I can that Sharon hasn't already. I did ask her this specific question and she said she's not sure exactly since she is only about halfway through the story, but I'm not expecting a big jump in time, since she is sticking to the format the other books have had.

  9. However Victor found out about Nathan being a rapist, it appears it was Sunday morning at the police station where he works. On the phone early Saturday afternoon, when their weekly father-daughter phone call got cut short and Eva promised to call him Sunday, he told her "I may have to stop by the station in the morning, but you can reach me on my cell no matter what. I love you." (page 119)

    1. He was his usual happy self on Saturday. On Sunday, he was angry, practically crying, and was dropping everything to fly to New York as soon as he could arrange it. Given the dramatic change, there's no way he'd been sitting on the knowledge for two-plus weeks. He's not that good of an actor. He was a devastated Dad who found out Sunday and lost it.
    2. It was before 8 a.m. local time in California he started phoning Eva's cell phone repeatedly. She missed three calls because she was sleeping in late, having been up almost all night. He also started calling Monica, because by the time Eva did check her phone, Monica was trying to reach her too. He'd even tried Eva's apartment or Cary's cell phone, because Cary sent Eva a shouting text message CALL ME. More indication it was early Sunday morning local time Victor found out.
    3. Courts aren't open on weekends, so we can rule out Victor managing to somehow pull Nathan's juvenile crime records Sunday morning.
    4. So how did he find out Sunday morning, apparently at his station house? And how did he know Saturday afternoon he "might" need to stop by the station the next morning?

My theory - Detective Graves (or possibly her partner, Detective Mincha) flew to San Diego and had a quiet cop-to-cop meeting during a quiet time at the precinct house on Sunday morning. One or the other (perhaps both) called him Saturday to say they were coming out. What they'd have to say was too sensitive to speak about over the phone, nor would it be discrete mailing copies (someone else could open the envelope -- and besides, there's no mail delivery anyway on Sunday) or to fax the material (someone else could see the pages coming off the machine.)

LN do you think Graves did this trip on her own dime?

  10. Hi Kirsten,

I went across the street to visit a neighbor of mine who is a crown attorney (therefore an expert in law :)) and he said pretty much the same things.  There would be no way for a DA to prove that Eva knew about the murder before she was married.  It would be one seriously sticky situation as well because Eva is now with Gideon.

I suspect (and it has been confirmed by other lawyers in the forum) that any DA worth his/her salt wouldn’t touch a case like this with a ten foot pole.  It would be tantamount to committing career suicide.  He/she wouldn’t be able to prove “jackâ€!

He also said that justifiable homicide doesn’t include the premeditation of a murder (i.e. a person can’t sit back and actively plan the murder of another human being no matter how despicable that person might be.  Any way you cut a scenario like that, it is premeditated murder.

I am sure that you can chime in on this Kirsten since the law is your specialty and your expertise (and it is greatly appreciated by me and many others). :)  Thanks in advance for the clarification.  I am sure that Canada and the US cannot be that different as far as the interpretation of what Justifiable Homicide means. What do you think?

    Morning GiGi,

Your neighbor is correct on all accounts. This is certainly not justifiable homicide since it was most definitely premeditated. While I can clearly see that Nathan was a danger to Eva's well being, Gideon would not be able to use a justifiable homicide defense.

  11. Hello everyone,

I'm not sure if this has been answered, but I'm a bit confused.

In book 2 - dectective Graves explained to Eva her theory that Gideon was Nathan's killer.  She went on to say that it didn't matter, they were throwing the story away cause Gedeon was no threat and Nathan didn't deserve to live.  She even suggested that Eva should go back to him cause he really loved her.

Why is it in book 3 that they are still working on this case?  And now once again they said it was a cold case.

I wonder if Victor Reyes will discover on his own that it was Gideon who killed Nathan???

    Welcome Rosie.

Detective Graves was lying to Eva.  Probably trying to trip her up.
