  1. Hi Nathalia,

I think that Corinne's parents might blame Eva because she is what was standing in the way for their daughter's happily ever after.  I would have to think that at some point, Corinne must have confided in one of her relatives that she may have made a mistake in marrying the wrong man and that she made a mistake when she walked away from Gideon.

They may be reacting on an elemental level; do what ever is necessary to keep our daughter from trying to kill herself again.  I think that if they took the time and looked at the situation, they probably wouldn't be so quick to judge.  They would begin to realize that their daughter had serious issues that go way beyond Gideon.  What do you think?  What does everyone think?

I agree GiGi. Corrine's parents will blame Eva for Corrine's unhappiness. They have seen Corrine and Gideon in the papers, they are believing that she and Gideon are getting back together. Let's look at it from their POV. Corrine broke the engagement... probably breaking Gideon's heart. She moves back her and he seemingly welcomes her with open arms. He's never dated anyone seriously since Corrine, although we could make the argument that he dated Eva seriously, Eva is the one who was "dumped" as soon as Corrine was back.

  2. I can only imagine what went through Elizabeth's mind when Eva accompanied Gideon to the hospital.

I'll bet Elizabeth is willing to blame Eva for Corrine too .... Elizabeth probably thinks that Eva deliberately broke up Gideon and Corrine.

Plus she spouting that BS to Corrine's parents. I understood Gideon wanting to get Eva out of there I just wish he would have spoken to her about it, not sent Angus in to get her.

  3. Why would they blame Eva? Shes still married . It has to be obvious to everyone now that corriine and Gideon weren't dating . Why would he bring Eva if they were....so maybe they had all assumed ,or Corinne fed it too. Idk. I want her out of the pic ASAP in book 4. She's not Gideon's problem , she's her husbands . Gideon's gotta cut ties indefinitely . No?

Btw, I may have multiple postings comin up...catching up on all these pages! :)

I don't think these people are reality based. Why has Gideon even been called to the hospital? They believe that Gideon is dating their daughter. They will either be blaming Jean or Eva for Corrine.

  4. I think Gideon especially wants the media reporting they're engaged and then wedding pictures plastered all over the place to proclaim to the whole world Eva is his.

Good Lord, the man is regressing a bit -- again. It's almost like the staged-sidewalk-kiss all over again: Caveman proclaiming "She Little Cross Woman - Back Off!!!" (That means you, Kline.)  Perhaps part of him is still guilt driven by having hurt Eva so badly by him deliberately getting himself photographed with Corrine.

Speaking of, one thing did make me want to spank Gideon -- Chapter 23, them climbing out of the limo, him sliding his lips across her temple and saying something guaranteed to make her laugh. It instantly reminded me of the photo that broke Eva's heart -- Gideon with his arm around Corrine's waist, " .... his lips nearly touching her temple. She had a drink in her hand and was laughing."  He did that same little trick to make Corrine laugh for the camera -- I wonder what sweet nothing he whispered to Corrine that night.

I also had the same thought about Gideon and Corrine at the mixer. Grrr.

I think that while Eva has become so much more secure in Gideon's love for her, Gideon still feels unworthy of the love she has for him. We talk about Eva's self esteem, but his isn't that much better. He really feels so unworthy of Eva. I do also think he still feels guilty about parading Corrine around. I was so happy to hear that Gideon was still seeing Dr. Petersen, he is in desperate need of those sessions.

  5. I can't read through all the post becuase there are so many, but I just have to say I really, really, really hope that Elizabeth will wake up, and Geidion will talk to her, and she will realize she is wrong and see how bad she hurt him. I was so mad when Elizabeth said "I wont let you take  him away from me" for starts she lost him when she didn't beleive what happen to him. It would make a really nice story at some point if that was addressed and the ending was her and Eva getting along. Although, Eva does have to mature a little and stop acting on impulse so much! It gets her in trouble sometimes.

I agree with what you have said about Elizabeth losing Gideon. I can't imagine her not believing him. Bad enough that he had to live through it, but to have his only living parent think that he was lying about it is horrendous. As much as we rag on Monica for not knowing Eva was being abused, Elizabeth, IMO is worse.

  6. Hi Kirsten,

You make a good point about Monica.  I also agree that Gideon might want a big wedding too.  He is marrying the woman he loves madly afteral.  I was thinking about something others had mentioned in previous postings and threads.  What is the fear then of letting the media in to this event (other than the fact that they can be incredibly intrusive).  If the worst case scenario played out and the sex tape was released, wouldn't it simply cause a moment's embarrassment and then blow over?  There is always someone in the media getting caught doing something foolish and quite frankly far worse.  What do you think?  What does everyone think?

I do think it would blow over quickly. The issue is can Eva's self-esteem handle it?

  7. I too believe that Corrine knew she was pregnant. Gideon wants to believe she didn't know .... and I hope that reasonable doubt continues to protect him for guilt he does not deserve.

But I fear that manipulative nutjob knew she was pregnant, and that's what prompted her finally after all those years to try to chase Gideon down. She planned to seduce him right away .... and then let him believe the baby she was carrying was his, something that would guarantee he would marry her quickly. One of the reasons she got increasingly frantic was the clock was running out .... the longer she failed to get Gideon to f*** her, the harder it would be to pass off the child as his.

Besides, by the fourth month, her options for backing out of the pregnancy got a whole lot more complicated.

NOTE: Abortion is a very sensitive issue on a number of levels -- religious, social, legal -- so I'm not taking any stances with the following explanation, but rather, simply discussing how the system works in the United States, where a landmark ruling by our Supreme Court made abortion legal and in a country where our medical system is run by the private sector, not the government itself. With that said ... the practice is legally protected but it is up to hospitals/clinics to decide for themselves whether they want to provide abortion services ....

It is relatively easy to find a hospital or clinic willing to terminate a pregnancy during the first 12 weeks - the first trimester.

It gets a whole lot more complicated 13 weeks onward .... the second trimester .... because things are now entering a gray area of "late term abortion." There's no exact line what constitutes "late" -- 16 weeks, 20 weeks -- so it is up to each care provider to decide what is late. But it is very difficult to find providers willing to perform late term abortions, especially in cases where a woman simply wants to end a pregnancy. Cases of a mother's life being in danger -- yes -- but for other reasons, um .... no. With each passing week, Corrine's options would have gotten even more narrow. And by the 20th week, it might have been all but impossible for her to find a clinic or hospital to perform one for any other reason but the fact her life was in danger.

The thought that she knew she was pregnant and was really trying to get Gideon back immediately was in the back of my mind. She has proven herself to be very manipulative, so I do agree with that part. No way she could have quickly married Gideon though. She's already married and I don't know how divorce works on France, but in most states here you have to be separated for a period of time before you can even file for divorce.

  8. I'm still surprised Elizabeth even had the ring .... that the Feds didn't seize it along with every other auctionable valuable she and her now-dead-husband owned. As Gideon noted, she'd already faced financial ruin once. Based on what happened with the real-life Ponzi schemer Bernie Madoff, the government seized practically everything of value both Madoff and his wife owned, auctioning the stuff off to go toward the victim fund.

Perhaps some sort of special exception applies to engagement/wedding rings. Even by hard-nosed government standards, ripping the engagement and wedding rings off the hand of a crook's wife (widow in Elizabeth's case) is cold. Or perhaps the ring was some sort of family heirloom from Elizabeth's side of the family. It's uncommon but not unheard of for a woman to wear an engagement ring that's an heirloom from her own family instead of wearing a brand new one bought by the fiance.

In any case, it would appear that ring was perhaps one of the sole valuables left from the Cross marriage. I envision Elizabeth setting it aside after she married Vidal, telling Gideon it would be his some day to pass on to his wife. Gideon became estranged from his family in his early teens, so it kinda made sense that when he got engaged to Corrine, he bought Corrine a ring himself instead of accepting Elizabeth's to use .....

..... and so what incredibly powerful message it did send that Gideon chose perhaps the only heirloom left from his parents life together to give to a woman he clearly means to spend the rest of his life with.

Perhaps it was seized LN and Gideon hunted it down.

  9. I'm really angrey Gideon would take off without even a text to Eva, and why would he take his tracker off at least she would be able to see were he was..That does not lay right with me, do u think there's something more to that?? Does anyone think Deanna went with him??

I didn't like it either. I mean after that whole hospital scene, I had a bad taste in my mouth so to speak so to then have Gideon disappear all that time. He's married for goodness sakes he should have called Eva or sent a text. He's still learning how to be in a relationship, is my only excuse for it. Plus he knew he couldn't tell Eva where he was going really. She would have been so upset to get that type of news over the phone. Doesn't excuse his behavior though.

  10. Is anyone else slightly confused by Victor's almost immediate acceptance of Gideon & Eva getting back together? Giving his permission to marry Eva after seeing him cheating on her just 3 weeks previously.

I'm sure he understands that there are details of their lives that are private and between them. But I know my father would never give permission to marry me to a man who publically cheated on me & appears to have chosen the other woman for at least a while. Do you know what I mean?

Cary also, I know by the time he and Eva talk about Gideon he has other things going on in his life, and also that he's been aware of them being back together for a while. But I find it hard to believe that he would just accept Gideon's cheating on Eva with Corinne without questioning Eva about it at all. Especially considering he and Eva don't really keep secrets from one another. Then again, he may just see it as Gideon was falling back into old habits - running instead of dealing with their issues or pushing Eva away because he wasnt ready to deal with his past. Ok Cary I can buy, but he has information Victor isnt privy to.

I want to hear the TAPE. :)  I think that Victor knows how much Eva loves Gideon, and Gideon probably explained the whole situation in an acceptable way. I don't think Gideon told Victor he killed Nathan, but I do think that Victor is a smart guy, so he probably got a better read on the situation when talking to Gideon, and could tell how much he loves Eva.

  11. And I wanted to laugh when Eva finally "played dirty" against Corrine .... knowing that she (Eva) and Gideon were about to have the inevitable discussion about his publicly dating Corrine, Eva made sure he'd have to see "the girls" (her rack) while he discussed another woman.

I was pleased that he instantly agreed "no more Corrine" -- had in fact already cut Corrine off. I wonder when he did it. The last time he was seen with Corrine was Monday evening, leaving the Crossfire with her shortly after business hours. Did he do it that night? On Tuesday, after he and Eva took their all-important car ride? Or did he do it Thursday morning, while Eva was still asleep following an entire night of make-up lovemaking?

Maybe it was Tuesday after the car ride?

  12. Hi Kirsten,

Do you think that it was Elizabeth Vidal seeing Eva wearing her old engagement ring that set her off?  Which would lead me to my next question; how would Gideon get his hands on that ring?  Usually women keep their engagement rings and only pass them down to their children way later on in life (or if a child specifically asks for said ring) but usually the mother would be aware of whom her child was going to propose to?  It seemed like Elizabeth was blind-sided when she saw that ring on Eva.  What do you think?  What does everyone think?

My only thought is that Gideon said he had been planning their wedding on the beach for weeks. Perhaps he had asked Elizabeth for the ring then? She did seem shocked. I can't really figure out why she would just give it to him for no reason you know.
