When I talk about this book- and I've been told I go on about it too much!. I love it for the story of 2 broken lovers trying to have a relationship, heck the sex is awesome, we would all love a Gideon in our lives!

But it's not just about the sex. The abuse storyline had my stomach in knots, the angst and heartbreak just made theses characters so real.

After Sylvia's revelation I felt deflated. Not poor Gideon, hasn't he suffered enough.

Perhaps the murderer was the pizza delivery guy, cos Nathan didn't give a decent tip. Ever hopeful. X

I say go for it!  I am all for change!  I also agree that it is complete agony and torture to have to wait for the release of books.  I understand that there may be delays or schedulling problems that can't be helped but this wait has be ridiculous!  I hope that the publishers and all the higher ups who have been in control of this past situation have learned from their past mistakes and that nothing like this will happen in the future.

 

If not then I highly suspect that there may be a huge outcry from Sylvia's faithful fans!

I am absolutely sure that we have kept Sylvia entertained.  That woman could have sold tickets and made millions from the "show" we the fans have put on for her (and for us)!

 

I can personally recall a time or two when I had steam coming out of my ears from one discussion or another.   I am also sure that many others may have had similar experiences.  For those who didn't have the "steam experience" I am completely sure that they sat back and enjoyed the show.

I see that you are burning the "midnight oil" (ok, so I couldn't resist one tiny little pun ), but I think we would all make millions ourselves from all our contributions.

 

I don't think that any theory is trivial, each one has the potential of being true.  If anything, I think each one of use has had the opportunity to hone our skills in figuring out which of all the theories presented may have been the plausible.  For me that is a good thing.

 

I also think that you are absolutely correct.  If Sylvia has been paying attention, she may have gotten a really good idea or two for another book.  I think that there has been some incredible dialogue amongst the members.  One would only hope that may have inspired Sylvia.

Yes it appears he will do anything for Eva even kill. This upsets me because they already has so much baggage and then add a murder? yes Nathan deserved it but couldn't she write his death as Gideon using self defense instead of a calculated murder.

It 'was' done in defense... The defense (and protection) of Eva. Gideon was defending the little girl who wasn't able to, the teen who suffered a miscarriage, the adult with horrific night mares. According to Det. Graves Eva was in danger as Nathan was stalking her and he would have eventually caused mortal harm to Eva.

I think that the only flaw to that arguement is that Gideon planned Nathan's murder step by step by step.  I don't see how that could be considered as self defense.   If Nathan had approached Eva and Gideon stepped in to protect Eva, then absolutely, but given all the circumstances; nathan staying at one of Gideon's hotels, Nathan attempting to blackmail Gideon, Monica and Stanton, Cary being attacked, Gideon discussing something with Monica, Gideon pushing Eva away and starting to be seen with Corinne socially, throwing the Kingsman Vodka Party, the kitchen fire at the hotel and Gideon's 30 minute absence all add up to premeditation to me(again, until I read it for myself on June 4th I will believe in Gideon's innocence).  What do you think?  What does everyone think?

Something else just struck me as odd.  How come Detective Graves was confirming to Eva that she was in immediate danger and that Nathan would have killed her.  Why was Detectove Graves being so "helpful" and forthcoming with information?   Can we the reader really trust what she was saying or was she trying to get a reaction out of Eva for her own purposes that being the investigation of Gideon for Nathan's murder?  What does everyone think?

But if it wasn't for the excerpts that have been posted, with Gideon and Eva playing a game of cat and mouse with the cops. Perhaps Graves was being genuine about Eva going back to Gideon and living HEA. Just dreaming! That sort of ending doesn't make good reading or book sales. Lol

That detective wants Gideons scalp. Think she is after promotion that woman!

Someone in an earlier post asked what some of the behavioral signs of sexual abuse are.  I went back and did a little research and have categorized them into two age categories; behavioral signs and of children who are under the age of 8 and for those children who are over the age of 8 through to adolescence.  I hope this helps. 

 

Category A:  Behavioral Sign of Sexual Abuse in Children 8 Years of Age and Under:

• Crying spells
• Nightmares or night terrors
• Excessive fear
• Fear of sleeping alone
• Hyperactivity
• Eating disorders
• Thumb or object sucking
• Bed wetting
• Soiling of oneself
• Language regression
• Sexual talk
• Sexual acting out or posturing
• Excessive masturbation
• Behavioral changes at school (grades dropping, acting out, fear in school, trouble concentrating)

• Extreme nervousness

Category B:  Behavioral Signs of Sexual Abuse in Children 8 Years of Age through to Adolescence

• Excessive nervousness
• Excessive guilt or shame
• Mood swings
• Overly compliant behaviour

After having looked at both of these lists, I have to wonder how on earth Monica or Elizabeth Vidal did not notice any of these symptoms in their children?! Both Eva and Gideon demonstrated a lot of these symptoms as a result of the abuse that they had to endure.  I am surprised; that no one in these children’s lives didn’t notice any behavioral changes.   I am simply flabbergasted by how far reaching the level of neglect was for these two. 

 

Yet again, it is clear that neither Monica nor Elizabeth Vidal will ever be nominated for Mother of the Year. I really hope that Sylvia provides the reader with some kind of insight as to what was going on in both Eva and Gideon’s lives. There is so much information that is still missing for me.  Having this kind of information would help me to understand how Gideon’s personality was formed and what makes him tick.  What does everyone think?

It was me who asked he question. Being a mother of 2 girls I would notice immediately if their personalities changed. As we have said, Monica and Elizabeth were never going to win prizes for parenting.

Perhaps it might soften the blow for you, regarding why Gideon killed Nathan, if Sylvia explains about his early years.

I still think there was something afoot regarding his dads death, was he murdered and did he find his body, which contributed to his problems. Wish it was June now.

Since I’ve already gone half of the distance of posting the behavioural signs and symptoms of childhood sexual abuse, I figure I might as well go the rest of the way and post the physical signs and symptoms of sexual abuse in children.

• Sexual behavior or knowledge that's inappropriate for the child's age
• Pregnancy or a sexually transmitted infection
• Blood in the child's underwear
• Statements that he or she was sexually abused
• Trouble walking or sitting
• Pain or discomfort in the genital/anal area
• Redness, swelling, discharge or bleeding of the genital/rectal area
• Abuse of other children sexually
• Hemorrhaging or petechiae (tiny ruptured blood vessels that appear like little red spots) in the child’s mouth.
• Round purple/red type bruising at the back of the child’s throat.
• Difficulty swallowing
• Hyperactive spitting and rinsing of the child’s mouth and hands.
• Direct aversion to having the child’s mouth or body touched.
• Stomach pains, headaches and other pains of unknown origin.
• Excessive gagging or hyperactive gagging response when an object is placed in the child’s oral cavity
• Vaginal or anal trauma (including vaginal/rectal tears, fissures, fistulas, infections or discharge)

It is obvious that Gideon was abused in the library of his parents house, because of a thought Eva made. "Standing in a rush, Gideon picked me up and carried m to the couch. H dropped me lengthwise on the cushion, then hauled my hips up to rest on the armrest, arching my spine. I eyed him up the length of my torso. Why not just fold me over and me from behind". This was obviously the position Gideon was raped in.

Gideon like Eva had no one to confide in even his mother didn't believe him. Monica came through in the end, but only because of a miscarriage. We need to know how Angus helped him, when did he become aware of Gideons abuse. My money's on Chris Snr as the abuser. But hey! I was wrong about Monica, so probably wrong again.

I was thinking that Monica was VERY self-absorbed prior to her finding out about what Nathan did to Eva which is probably why she didn't recognize changes in Eva's behavior.   I guess that she was early to mid thirties range around the time of the abuse?

 

I think that finding out what happened to Eva was a sentinel moment for Monica-- a wake-up call as to her failings as a  mother/person.

 

I think that this series is a love story but also it is a story about redemption----no matter what failings/sins they had done in the past---they can turn their life around and become better people.  I think that this series is a love story and it is a story  about the different character's journey to become better people.
