  1.   Hi Sscrph, When I read the passage and then sat and thought about it, I think that yes Gideon did agree to continue to see Eva but I think that in some way, Gideon was still trying to compartmentalize his relationship with Eva. Up until that point, Gideon had always gotten his way when it came to women. Everyone always seemed to go along with his preferences. Eva was the very first woman who demanded a say in how their s****l relationship would go.  I hope I am making sense. I also agree with you. I think that by the time Gideon brought Eva back to his apartment, he was already in love with Eva. What does everyone think?
  2. Hi LNCronan, You are correct; Gideon and Eva had discussed and come to the conclusion that they were going to have sex exclusively. After I sat and thought about everything, I think that Gideon may have said ok to Eva, but he was still compartmentalizing Eva into his life and not really allowing her in.  I think that because of Gideon choosing to have s** with Eva at his f*** pad. He had always brought back every other s** partner casual or otherwise to his hotel. I think that if Eva had known about the nature of that particular space, there is no way that she would have had s** there or maybe she wouldn’t have continued the relationship given how she was being categorized.  I think that prior to the hotel, Gideon had feelings for Eva, strong ones (maybe even love after having s** in the limousine), but I don’t think that Gideon had fully committed or understood what that even meant until Eva decided that she wasn’t going to be treated like one of the masses.  Only when Gideon actually invited Eva back to his apartment, did I feel that they “actually†started really being “boyfriend and girlfriendâ€. What do you think? What does everyone think?
  3.  Hi ShazScott1980, You are absolutely correct, Gideon and Eva had solidified their relationship status prior to s** at the hotel. I was reading and answering from a different perspective.  Don't mind me, I have been down with the flu these past few days and as such my thoughts hae been somewhat scattered.
  4. Hi AMC, I think it was just an old email, thus far this series is only meant to be a trilogy but someone had mentioned that Sylvia tweeted or posted or something, that there is more room or room for these characters (or Gideon to grow). Basically what I understood from that posting is that Sylvia may be considering writing another book and adding to the series. I think the next step would be convincing the publishers to buy another book. What does everyone think? :)
  5.   Hi LNCronan, What I asked specifically was would you want to cheer on the character of someone who would purposely destroy another human being (being cold, vindictive, etc.) because ultimately she had the misfortune of loving someone who doesn’t love her? I said it before and I will say it again, I don’t. Dr. Lucas has about as much credibility as P**p sitting on a sidewalk. If that man hadn’t either covered up Gideon’s rapes, or raped Gideon or lied about viewing physical evidence of Gideon’s, then this entire scenario would never have happened.  Gideon didn’t know who Anne Lucas was when she was busy throwing herself at him. He also didn’t purposely seek her out. Anne sought him out instead. No, what Gideon did wasn’t right but Gideon didn’t orchestrate this scenario-Dr. Lucas did.  Again, let me state it for the record, what Gideon did to Anne by having an affair with her wasn’t right, but all the fault wasn’t his. I suspect that Anne was either broken or very close to it well before Gideon ever entered the picture. Again Dr. Lucas shares a good bit of that blame, but ultimately it was Anne Lucas’s decision to start having an affair with Gideon and Gideon was very clear that he never lead her on. I just want to make sure that look at things squarely. Yes Gideon deserves some of the blame but not all of it and quite frankly not evens half of it (as for the reasons I stated above or before). At the end of the day there is more than enough blame to go around for everyone. Ultimately a person can only be held responsible for his or her own actions. They cannot be blamed for they way another person reacts. What does everyone think?
  6.   Hi Kirsten, I agree with your sentiments. I personally don’t want to cheer for a character that goes out of his way to destroy another person. That level of hatred and animosity is quite frankly unwarranted given the circumstances presented in the book.  I think that what Corinne has done isn’t nice or the most honourable thing in the world, but it certainly isn’t the most hateful thing either. I don’t think that Gideon would have lead on Corinne either. He doesn’t strike me as that kind of man, but hey, what do I know. I could be in for a very rude awakening on June 4th. I will just have to keep my fingers crossed until then and hope that I don’t wind up eating crow…or at least more of my baking.
  7.   Hi LNCronan, I don’t think that there is any blessed loving way that Gideon would risk sleeping next to Eva so long as he was still dealing with his parasomnia issues. Gideon’s nightmares are very specific in that he is reenacting revenge on the person who raped him. He is subconsciously doing the very thing that he wished he could do when he was a child.  In a way, I think his subconscious is in a way “cleaning house†so to speak. Thus far Gideon hasn’t sought treatment for what happened to him as a child. He hasn’t needed to. He has always had sex with casual partners (with the exception of Corinne), in the location of his choosing and in the manner of his choosing…that is until Eva came along. Then I think, he threw out the rule book and the reality of the nightmares became even more real.  Thus far Gideon hasn’t been able to really talk about what happened to him as a child to Eva and as such there is no way I could see Eva put herself at risk and sleeping next to Gideon every night. We also have to take into account Eva’s reaction to one of Gideon’s attacks. I seriously couldn’t see Eva willingly sleeping next to Gideon every night if she were constantly under threat of being raped. No way, no how, Krav Maga or not, I just don’t buy it.  Again, I use common sense as a litmus test, would you sleep next to a guy who had violent nightmares where he re-enacted the scenario of raping his abuser? I wouldn’t and I also think that all of the experiences that Eva has had with Gideon and his nightmares have taken a toll on Eva (both emotionally and psychologically) and their relationship. I am not sure how many more episodes of Gideon and his nightmares Eva would be able to take or quite frankly care to take. What does everyone think?
  8.  Hi LNCronan, I guess I see the situation differently. I think that what Corinne has done isn't nice but it doesn't even come close to level of mental illness or hatred that the theory supposes. I also don't think that Corinne would have been able to sustain a relationship with her husband for as long as she had, because no person in their right mind would stay married to such a supposed "whack" job.  The fact that Corinne has decided to go for broke and toss her hat into the ring isn't the worst thing in the world. Gideon had only been dating Eva for a matter of weeks; two or three at most, not months, not years (so let's not over dramatize the situation here). Yes I absolutely think that Corinne regretted her mistake in having left Gideon all those years ago, but this time she is going to try everything within her power to let Gideon know how much she loves him. Let's also remember that Gideon NEVER corrected her, so on some level she was right to hold out a glimmer of hope. If anyone is to hold a part of the blame for this situation, it is Gideon. Now I know that is not a popular position to take, but come on now...really?!  If any of you ladies in the forum, walked away from a guy several years ago and you realized your mistake, and you realized that this guy might be on the verge of getting serious with another girl, and that if you don't at least let the guy know how you feel about him (you will absolutely regret it for the rest of your life), that you will absolutely regret and won't be able to live with yourself, then I would woner how you would react.  Again, I stipulate that what Corinne has been doing thus far, hasn't been nice, but vilifying her on this kind of level is just a little bit much. Has anyone stopped to consider that maybe Corinne might be instrumental in helping Eva get out of a jamb in the next book? That theory is just as plausible as any other. Why? Sylvia hasn't written anything to contrary. In one instance, Sylvia's silence speaks volumes, yet in others it doesn't.  If you consider one theory, then you have to at least give credence to another theory.
  9.   Hi LNCronan, Your theory assumes that Gideon wouldn’t have invited Corinne to this event. Although he may not have been escorting her to the event, Gideon still considered her a friend and as such he may have made sure that Corinne’s name was always on the “invite†list.  I think that regardless of where Corinne was living she was probably still invited to many social functions in New York. She was and is still a socialite and as such, she would have remained on the guest list. She must also have been a generous contributor and again as such she would have been invited.  Now as for the Corinne crashing the party theory, Corinne may have gone to the event to see what was going on for herself. It is one thing to hear about how someone feels about a person that he/she is dating, but it is another to see it for yourself.  I don’t think that Corinne attending this event was necessarily wrong; I think that how Gideon dealt with the situation of seeing Corinne at this event was ABSOLUTELY wrong! Everyone keeps rushing to judgment about Corinne. Has anyone stopped to look at what a shi**y job Gideon has done of dealing with Corinne?  Let’s also be clear that Corinne didn’t ruin the event for Eva, Eva ALLOWED Corinne’s actions to ruin the night for her. There is a big difference there. At the end of the day, each and every single one of us is responsible for our actions and that includes how we react to someone else.Â
  10.   Hi LNCronan, All the circumstantial evidence would indeed point to Gideon dumping Eva. Eva cheated on Gideon with Brett (by kissing him) and was witnessed by Arnoldo, Shawna, Angus and hoards of others at the concert. Gideon got into a fight with Brett as a result, again which was witnessed by all parties. The cops wouldn’t be able to refute any of that evidence.  So if Gideon temporarily broke up with Eva, the cops couldn’t say that it was because Nathan was murdered or that Gideon even killed him. I really think that this would be a dead issue for the cops.  By all outward appearances Gideon is a wealthy, handsome man who could literally have his pick of the litter when it comes to women so why on earth would he want to kill for a woman that cheated on him and he had only been dating for a few short weeks? I really don’t think that the cops would be able to sell this to a DA. Bottom line, I don’t think that this case would ever make it to a jury. Â
  11. Holy Cow, If everyone keeps beating up on poor Corinne (now I am laughing), I am going to start a telethon for this girl! I can hardly wait for June 4th, so we can all get some answers!
  12.  Hi MrsCrossfire, I agree. I think  that Corinne does want Gideon back, but I don't think that she is going to snap. I do think that she will try everything within her power to eliminate the competition though. I think that Corinne is threatened by Eva or at least the thought of her. Corinne knows that Gideon treated Eva differently. He chased Eva and not Corinne.  I think that in turn has exploited all sorts of insecurities within Corinne. She realizes that she isn't on good ground or maybe she even realizes that in the end she isn't going to win and maybe that's why Corinne is trying so desperately to win Gideon. She is pulling out all the stops.  What do you think? What does everyone think?
  13.    Easy now lady , Pull back on the “bearing horrific scars†bit.   You make it sound like Corinne locked Eva in some terrible dungeon or had her shackled and being held against her will in some scary dark and damp cave.    Let me be clear, what Corinne did was not nice, but it doesn’t escalate to the level of Eva bearing horrific emotional scars. I can see your active imagination at work (which is very good by the way ).  I think the truth of the matter is that Corinne saw a weakness in Eva and she exploited it. Again I say that it wasn’t a nice to do, but I think that is almost a comment on how many individuals in today’s society treat their fellow man.   I also don’t think that Gideon will react as viciously as you seem to think. Would he ###### off, yes, absolutely, but does a reaction of total vengeance and destruction of another human being (by purposely leading her on and giving her false hope for a relationship) to the point that Corinne either snaps and tries to kill someone or herself or that she has a complete mental breakdown is simply too much.  I have asked this before and I am asking it again.  Do you really want to root for a character that is that vindictive or mean or cold or calculated that he destroys a woman because she had the misfortune of falling in love with a man who really didn’t love her? You are right in that I don’t think that Corinne and Gideon can remain friends. Corinne can’t seem to keep her head on straight and Gideon can’t seem to set her straight (or potentially stop using her).
  14.  Hi LNCronan, Could it also be that Corinne realizes that absolutely everyone else is chasing after someone but NO ONE is chasing after her? Could it be that Corinne finally realizes that Gideon really isn't interested in her or that she finally gives up on her silly quest to capture Gideon's heart? Those are possibilities too aren't they? What do you think?Â
  15.  Hi Sscrph, I guess it remains to be seen whether Corinne is still in the dark about Gideon. I think it will all come down to whether Gideon was lying to her and telling her that they had another shot or whether Gideon told her that they would only ever be friends.  I don't think that Corinne would have taken anything Eva had to say to heart. I think that Corinne quite frankly can't stand Eva (not because she has done something to her) and probably sees her as her competition. I wonder how this is all going to play out on June 4th. What do you think? What does everyone think?
  16.   Hi LNCronan,  What does that have to do with Corinne’s state of mind? The way that was described earlier was that Gideon was purposely leading Corinne on. If Gideon did that then he would be directly responsible for Corinne’s mental breakdown (if she were indeed to have one).  If however Corinne were told from the get-go that she and Gideon were just friends, only friends and would only ever be friends, then Corinne herself would have to decide whether she was going to try and go after a man who clearly doesn’t want her. I don’t know how much Corinne would read into the media or their speculations about her relationship with Gideon.  Let’s also remember that the cops have only speculation to go on and nothing more! Mrsmajessick’s argument is correct in that it wouldn’t matter if Gideon dated, stopped dating and then started dating the same woman again. The cops have no proof or thus far haven’t been able to “gather†any evidence.Â
  17.  Hi ShazScott1980, I think that I didn't quite see them really consenting to being together until after Gideon brought Eva back to his apartment. Up until that point, the only place that Gideon had ever had sex with other partners had been at his f*** pad. That's why I thought that although Gideon had agreed to Eva's demands, he still wasn't in the relationship.  I am not sure if that makes sense to you. I think that Gideon was saying what he needed to in order to get Eva into bed. At that point, I know that Gideon desperately wanted Eva, I think that Gideon really liked her (may have even loved her), but I think that everything was cemented when Gideon let his guard down and took her back to his apartment. I think that is when the real boyfriend/girlfriend thing started. What do you think? What does everyone think? Â
  18. Hi LNCronan, The last time Gideon and Eva made love in RIY, Gideon knew that he was going to have to separate himself from Eva (if he did kill Nathan and I am not saying that he did) for whatever reason (Eva’s protection in that Nathan didn’t think that they were together any longer, etc.). So it would make sense that he was tormented.  I wonder however, how Sylvia will describe their reuniting in the next book? It will be interesting to see the difference in the emotion of the characters. I think that Gideon could have been tormented for many reasons. He had received a very ugly visit from Nathan, who also had hideous photos and videos in tow with him. I could very much see Gideon feeling torment for Eva, and empathy and so many other emotions that would be connected to his own personal experiences of being a child of repeated rape as well. There could be so many ways that a person reading that passage could interpret that.  Your final comment about Gideon having “claw†marks on him from his and Eva’s wild pre-morning fit of passion; could it be that Gideon had “claw marks†on him from his fight with Nathan? I am just throwing it out there…I don’t know exactly what kind of “claw marks†they were. What do you think? What does everyone think?Â
  19.   Hi MrsCrossfire, I think that Gideon probably said something along the lines ofâ€â€¦it will all be ok, I will explain everything later….I can’t talk now….the cops are on their way….†I think that given the circumstances, Eva would have accepted a simple explanation knowing that they would be able to discuss everything at a later date.  At this point, Eva is aware of what is going on and that Nathan was a very serious threat to her life. She also realizes that someone had the wherewithal and the strength to eliminate the Nathan threat for good. The sacrifice that person made for Eva, was of great personal sacrifice to them. I think that Eva recognizes that.  I don’t think that Eva is that same insecure person that we the reader first met in Bared To You. A lot has happened since we first met her. I think that in the next book, we will see a more empowered woman, who is filled with compassion and love. I think that she will have a better handle on her insecurities and jealousies. I can hardly wait! What do you think? What does everyone think?
  20. Hi KiMa, I agree with you. I don't think that Corinne is a bad person either. I think that she has lost herself in Gideon. I hope that the smoke clears from her eyes and she gains some kind of perspective. I am really hoping that the character of Corinne will surprise all of the readers.Â
  21. Hi LNCronan, I think that somewhere deep down we are all hoping to see a little "holiday" action between these two. Hey if the reader happens to get a surprise treat on a holiday...all the better!
  22. Hi LNCronan, I just wanted to clarify that the first time Gideon and Eva had s** at the hotel they weren't boyfriend and girlfriend, they had consented to start having a fling of sorts. It was only after a fight and Eva going up to Gideon's office that they then decided to start going out as boyfriend/girlfriend.  When they had s** at the f*** pad, things were going according to Gideon's plan. He was hoping that Eva would fall into one of his s** partner roles. That's it. Â
  23. Hi Donnad, Welcome to the forum.  I was wondering how much you think that the media will be involved in the whole Gideon and Eva thing? What's your theory?Â
  24.  Hi KiMa, Oh wow!  Thank you for posting the link and the text. I really appreciate it. The link didn't quite work, but the text was great! So thanks again!  "Here comes Peter cotton tail.... :)" Wouldn't that be the greatest thing, Gideon and Eva spending their holidays together? Sigh!  I really hope that Gideon and Eva wind up together. Otherwise posting these incredible snippets would simply be cruel! Sigh! First Christmas and now Easter....sigh!
  25. Hi barbiemitch, I think that Gideon might have said something to Eva. I think that they talked a little bit. I don't think that they had an indepth conversation, no, but I do believe that he said something to her. It wouldn't make sense for Gideon to just say nothing.    I am personally not on Team Gideon killed Nathan but I do believe that Gideon did say something comforting to Eva and then sent her on her way. Now what exactly, if anything, Gideon said, we will have to wait until June 4th to find out. What do you think? What does everyone think?Â
