Hi Jls1216, Can you or someone catch me up please. Did Sylvia post another snippet or something? I swear I leave this forum for a day and everything completely changes. Sigh!  Wha did I miss?Â

Hi everyone, I just wanted to wish you all a Happy Easter, Happy Passover, Happy Spring Solstice or Happy Holidays. I hope everyone has a lovely holiday. Â

Hi Sscrph, Gideon had been prescribed a type of sleeping pill. He isn't on anti-depressants at all. His problem is specific to para-somnia. I suspect that he is still having nightmares in part because he hasn't been forthcoming with Eva about his past and as such it still looms over his head.  Gideon also hasn't dealt with his past abuse issues (which is completely understandable given his circumstances). I think that when Gideon starts being honest with Eva and receiving active therapy for his past abuse issues, then I believe that his nightmares will lessen. I am not sure that they will go away completely, but their intensity and severity should hopefully lessen.

I Sscrph, I think that Cary and Tatiana could be good together. She seems to accept him for who he is. She doesn't seem to judge him which is good for his spirit. She did seem quite upset when she went to visit Cary at his apartment.  You were right, I think that those factors and all that good s**, could potentially make for a nice romance for Cary. He deserves someone good in his life!  Let's hope he finds it sooner rather than later.

Hi LNCronan, I am not sure which is crueler, Gideon lying to Eva or Gideon lying to Corinne. My money is on Gideon lying to Corinne. At this point Gideon knows that Corinne is in love him. Eva has made sure of that so he can’t turn a blind eye to that fact or claim that he didn't know.  Eva has also pointed out the strange fact that Corinne’s apartment is so close to Gideon. She has also expressed her concern over Corinne’s neediness and daily phone calls. Gideon can’t plead the fifth about not knowing what the deal is with Corinne.  So for Gideon to use Corinne that ruthlessly (that is if Gideon is in fact “falsely dating†Corinne), is utterly despicable! Eva has pointed out over and over again how unstable Corinne might be and Gideon’s exploitation of someone’s mental weakness isn’t acceptable. If Corinne does snap (as you suspect), then I state that Gideon is directly and completely responsible for that!    Â

Hi LNCronan, Hold on a second here. Corinne didn't quite crash the fundraiser. She probably paid a lot of money to attend this charitable event. She also has been a member in "high society" as well and as such could probably attend any charitable function on little or no notice. The entire point of holding these events is to raise money and I am sure that Corinne did her part financially speaking.  Now you are correct in that Gideon didn't invite her or escort her to the event so in that sense maybe she crashed the event. The rest of the evening I see as a woman's attempt at sizing up her competition. If Corinne did come back to win Gideon, she did have a right to do so. Gideon was married and as such was in a sense "fair game". Is that a nice thing, no, absolutely not, but what is that saying..."all is fair in love and war...†Game on!
-
Hi Sscrph, I think that will depend on whether Gideon has told Corinne the truth and that they are supposed to be "just friends" or whether Gideon is using Corinne and "falsely dating" her. If Corinne comes up with the delusion herself then that is one thing.  If on the otherhand, Gideon lies to Corinne and uses her for his own selfish ends, well the consequences could be disasterous!! What do you think?
-
Hi Sscrph, I surely wouldn't want to p*** off Gideon.  Afterall Gideon is the "Golden Goose" (no pun intended)  and p****** him off could put his career in jeopardy. Oh boy, the drama! Sigh! Â
-
Hi LNCronan, I could seriously see Gideon's head exploding if Brett tried to pull a stunt like that! If you couple that with a photographer being nearby and catching a candid shot of his reaction...wow! I wouldn't want to be around if that were to happen. In the end, it will depend on how desperate Brett will be to try and get Eva and how threatened he might feel about Gideon.  Yes, it is true that by all outward appearances, Gideon broke up with Eva, but one look in Gideon and Eva's eyes would tell a different story especially if they were in the same space at the same time.  Gideon may be able to hide his feelings but I don't think that Eva would be quite as good at it.  Everytime they are in a room together, sparks seem to fly. Anyone who has been around these two has been able to spot that from a mile away.Â

Hi LNCronan, Your scenario of how Gideon would break up with Corinne is brutal! Holy crap! "...News at 11pm...Woman jumps from the top of the Crossfire Building or....Woman holding Gideon Cross hostage....negotiators are on the scene now trying to talk the woman down..."  Any way you cut it, I don't see this working out for the best. If what you have been suspecting is true, I think there will be a very ugly turn in the storyline. Sigh!

Hi LNCronan, This a dangerous game of cat and mouse that Eva and Gideon are playing. It may end up blowing up in their faces if they aren't careful. Maybe this is an area that is best left alone. How do you think Gideon will go about breaking up with Corinne if he was "falsely" dating her? What are your thoughts?
-
Hi LNCronan, Do you think that Eva would leverage his fake relationship with Corinne against him or does Gideon only “think†that Eva would do such a thing? There is a big difference between the two statements.
-
Hi Jls1216, I think that is a great idea!! I would love something like that to happen! It would make for such a great storyline! Oh holy cow, I can hardly wait for June 4th! :)
-
Hi LNCronan, I must have missed something. Sorry. Could you catch me up please. How would Gideon and Eva be at a concert together? What would the scenario be for that happening? Thanks in advance. :)
-
Hi LNCronan, You make a good point about Corinne wishing Gideon all the best with his new relationship, but alas the poor girl didn't and the drama began! You must admit it though, you are loving the drama just as much as everyone else, even me. :)
-
Hi LNCronan, What is your theory about how this murder investigation is going to go away? Yes I know I must be a gutton for punishment, but I just can't help myself. All this witty reparte has me coming back for more! :)
-
Hi everyone, What I saw in the photo was a microphone, a spotlight, smoke filled area. It looks like a scene just before a concert or when a singer is about to do a solo. What does everyone else think?

Hi LNCronan, Just one other quick thing, I don’t think that Monica had a choice in divorcing Mr. Barker. She would have lost custody of her child. Of that I am sure. Child Protective Services would have taken away that child hands down. I don’t think that they would have stood for Nathan being out of the house and away from Eva. Monica wouldn’t have been able to guarantee her daughter’s safety. As such I think that the only prudent thing that Monica could have done was to separate herself from that situation altogether and that would have included divorcing the hubbie. Otherwise I am absolutely sure that CPS and the police department would have started digging far more into the family, and she probably would have been found neglectful in her parenting duties. I don’t think that Monica would have taken even an ounce of risk if she possibly could have lost her child. That is also why I think that she never contacted Mr. Barker after the divorce. She wouldn’t have wanted any misperceived attention coming to her and or her parenting including contacting an ex-husband.

Hi LNCronan, In Monica’s case, she didn’t know that her daughter was being brutalized and raped. All she knew at the time was that her daughter was hemorrhaging badly and as such took Eva to the Emergency Department. Would Monica have taken Eva to the Emergency Department had she known that her daughter was being raped? One will never know. The reader can hope that Monica wouldn’t have allowed her daughter to suffer for the sake of a family name. Whereas Gideon may have finally told his mom that he was being raped. Instead of taking her son to the Emergency Department, Elizabeth Vidal decided to look for help privately. The reader is left to wonder whether Elizabeth actually took Gideon to these doctor’s offices or whether they simply came to her house. I agree that Elizabeth Vidal put her family’s name and privacy above the welfare of her son. That was despicable! I also agree that Elizabeth Vidal didn’t believe her son which was also despicable! The fact that Elizabeth Vidal put her son in a position where he was pitted against his brother and that he had to prove that he was raped and ultimately wasn’t believed was again DESPICABLE!! Where we don’t agree is that I don’t know that Elizabeth Vidal actively tried to cover up her son’s rape or that she willingly knew that her son was being raped and just handed her kid over to the rapist to continue to rape Gideon or that she even knew that Christopher Sr. was covering up Gideon's rape, if indeed he was covering it up. Elizabeth Vidal showed horrendous lack of judgment with Gideon when he was a child whereas Monica showed horrendous lack of judgment with Eva when she didn’t tell her that Nathan was back in town stalking Eva and looking to blackmail everyone. Why would Monica need to stay with her husband for financial security when she already got seven million dollars worth of financial security? The only difference is that Elizabeth hasn’t decided yet whether she will leave her husband. I don’t know that Elizabeth Vidal would stay with a man who would lie to her and that lie having physically and emotionally devastated him. If indeed Elizabeth Vidal knew what Christopher Sr. was doing or worse still she knew herself and was actively covering up these horrendous crimes, then she deserves to be thrown in jail and have the key tossed away! I guess we will have to wait and see if Sylvia addresses this in the next book.

Hi MicheleWV, Why do you think that Gideon would mess with Brett’s career? In what way do you think that he would mess with it; for the good or for the bad? What would Gideon have to gain by messing with Brett’s career? Theoretically if Gideon messed with Brett’s career for the worse then that would only hurt Eva and in turn that would hurt him because I am sure that Eva would tear a strip off of Gideon over someone that she once cared about. I also think that Eva might blame herself because she kissed Brett and started this entire mess to begin with. If however Gideon helped Cary’s career for the better then I think that he would have Eva’s gratitude and that could only be for the better. I do agree with you though, I think that Cary may be afraid of fame (which may be a reason why he has been dragging his feet about getting serious about his career) and fame may be another reason why Cary may stumble. Cary still hasn’t worked out his issues and as such is vulnerable to slipping back into his old ways. I hope that Gideon takes Cary under his wing, although I don’t know how much good it will do. Other than line up jobs for him, I am not sure what else Gideon could other than arrange for rehab for Carey. Each of these guys has serious emotional issues and somehow I don’t see these guys hanging out a male bonding therapy weekend. :)

Hi LNCronan, What you are assuming is that Corinne would have stayed broken. I think that leaving the relationship, entering another one (getting married) and physically separating herself from Gideon would have given Corinne the opportunity to gain some perspective on her relationship with Gideon. She had several years to think about what happened during their relationship then and now. I don’t think that is realistic. Time always gives a person the opportunity to learn and to grow. I think that Corinne jumping back into a relationship with Gideon is what will screw her up again. Not the other way around. If Gideon is in fact using Corinne then I think that he will be directly responsible for bringing up all of her old insecurities in a very cruel way. Who knows how Corinne will turn out in the next book?

Hi LNCronan, Again, I state that I don’t think that Elizabeth Vidal would contact Corinne because she would be too afraid of destroying her already shaky relationship with her son. That woman walks on egg shells with that boy and rightly so! I think the fact that Elizabeth Vidal is trying to keep a relationship with her son is one of her redeeming qualities. What I think will be interesting is if Elizabeth Vidal atones for her horrendous mistakes (mistakes…doesn’t even describe just how badly she hurt her child). If by some strange coincidence Elizabeth Vidal befriended Corinne I think that would be the end of her relationship with her son. I don’t think that relationship could stand another blow. What does everyone think?
