Hi LNCronan, I don’t think that scenario would work. Firstly I don’t think that Corinne had any type of relationship with Elizabeth Vidal and secondly why would Elizabeth Vidal risk her very shaky relationship with her son to befriend Corinne? I don’t think that Elizabeth Vidal would take that risk. If Corinne and Gideon weren’t dating then how would she explain her contacting them? If Corinne was seeing Gideon as you suggest, wouldn’t it be presumptuous of her to make contact with Gideon’s family without having been invited to do so? Or worse yet, how Corinne would explain talking with Elizabeth Vidal to Gideon. One would just know that Elizabeth Vidal would be on the phone with her son asking about Corinne and talking about how nice it was to meet her or talk to her. I think that Elizabeth Vidal would see this as a positive thing and not an intrusive thing. She probably would have thought that maybe Gideon suggested it in a round-about way. I could definitely see that kind of scenario backfiring on both; Elizabeth Vidal with her son, and Corinne with Gideon. I just see him hitting the roof! What do you think? What does everyone think?

Hi LNCronan, I think that we are comparing apples and oranges. If we look at Magdalene, then it could be argued that both Gideon and Christopher Jr. had equal exposure and therefore opportunity to have contact with her. In fact, I think that Christopher Jr. had more opportunities than Gideon. If Magdalene accompanied her mother on the visits then the person who would most likely have been at home would have been Christopher Jr. Gideon would have been away at school or out working while Christopher would have been of school age and thus still at home. For whatever reason, Magdalene developed some sort of sexual relationship and the reader is led to believe that it had been an ongoing thing which suggests that these two characters had some sort of chemistry at least on some level. Even if Magdalene was jealous and needy and Christopher Jr. was “randyâ€, I don’t think that the two of them or either of them would have s** more than once if the s** was bad. Now Eva, on the other hand was always only attracted and exposed to Gideon. Gideon also eventually convinced Eva that his brother was and is bad. What made it difficult for Eva to believe was the fact that Gideon was so secretive. I think that is why Eva disregarded Gideon’s warnings. She had to see for herself because she couldn’t trust what Gideon was saying. He was too busy keeping secrets. Corinne on the other hand wouldn’t have had any exposure to Christopher Jr. at all. I am sure that Gideon would have given Corinne the same warning about how dangerous his brother was. Therefore I don’t think that Corinne would have had any voluntary contact with Christopher Jr. At that point Corinne wouldn’t have had any reason to doubt Gideon and they may also have been engaged. So it would behoove Corinne to listen to Gideon. What do you think?

Hi MrsCrossfire, You are right. Whom ever helped plan and or execute Nathan's murder would need an alibi. None of these characters would want to be on the "hook" for the murder.

Hi SScrph, What you said could be true. I guess I find it a little difficult to believe that Brett really cared for Eva. They were sleeping together for six months and Brett never took it past a casual thing. Then when Eva finally had enough and walked away, Brett started missing her? I just find it difficult to swallow. I wonder why Brett didn't give all the other groupies the boot if he liked Eva so much. Did he really like Eva that much or was she just the best s** partner out the bunch? I think that Brett is going to half to walk on hot coals before I start liking this dude. :)

Hi LNCronan, Could you please explain what "It was only through the kindness of fate and some courage on his part that Gideon managed to stop Eva from continuing on a path she had already begun walking -- toward a future life that no longer included him." means? I am not sure about the context that you are referring to. Now as far as Eva walking away from Gideon, I agree that was a hugely empowering step for her. She stopped looking at photos that would play on her insecurities and then she followed up on those actions by dumping the guy who was creating havoc in her life and causing her so much pain. In a strange way, Gideon and Eva breaking up was a really good thing for Eva. For the first time Eva put herself above a relationship and more importantly she respected herself. I think this might be a key point going forward in the next book. What do you think? What does everyone think?

Hi LNCronan, Maybe I will give audio books a try. I am not sure that I would get the same "feeling" or understanding by listening to someone else read it to me. I don't know that I can hear the voices of the characters in my head, but when I read I definately create a picture in my mind. It is like I am sitting in a corner of the room while I am watching the dialogue visually play out. I don't know if that makes sense, but it is a connection I make when I read. I also can't read something digitally, I have to have an actual book in my hand so I can physically turn each page, bookmrk the pages that interest me and go back and reread the pages I didn't quite understand. I am what one would call a tactile learner. I need to visually see and hold something in my hands in order to make the learning/reading connection (got to love Grad School Studies....sigh!). What does everyone think of audio books?

Holy Cow, You are too hilarious! I just having to finish laughing at that one, pick myself up off the floor and start figuring out which cookies I will bake for you on June 8. A friend wouldn't want to see another friend "eat crow". So why not one of my cookies instead? I have been told that I am a fabulous baker! So you decide. You can eat crow or cookies. Or wait...I could be the one eating crow on June 8th, which will mean you will have been arming yourself with the I TOLD YOU SO AMUNITION for all those days! ARGHHHHH!!!!! I think I'd rather eat one of my cookies instead of crow! Cookies taste much better!! Trust me!! :) :)

Hi LNCronan, I so wouldn't want to see Cary go down the addiction path. I don't think it would help the storyline and quite frankly it would hurt my heart! Let's hope Sylvia leaves that out of her next book and any others she may write about our cheeky Cary. :)

Hi LNCronan, I don’t buy it! In RIY Brett didn’t say that he loved Eva, he didn’t say that he was sorry for how he treated her. He made one excuse after another. That isn’t love that is the plea of a selfish man. On page229 Brett says; “…Golden is our biggest single…it’s what got us signed…Because of you, I’ve written the best material the band’s ever had…†If you really stop and read what Brett is saying, he didn’t say that he was sorry for how he acted. He talks about how he got his success (in part by the chemistry between them and the dramas that ensued as a result of that). A really famous person once said that “Fame and fortune will magnify who you are. If you are nice and kind and respectful of others, then you will more so when you have fame and fortune. If you are a lying cheating, philanderer, then you will be more of one with the addition of money and celebrity. †Brett got off on the fact that he had groupies following him around, throwing themselves at him, doing anything just to be near him. He used women left, right and centre and never thought twice about it because it fed his ego. Eva finally hit bottom and left (thank goodness for her), but Brett hasn’t had his fill of her yet. Could it be that she bruised his ego and therefore he is chasing her to get back what was his? Quickly here: A friend of mine dated a HUGE rock star. They fought like cats and dogs from the get-go, but she stuck it out for a long time. They actually dated before he ever signed with a record label. After their group got signed, their relationship went from bad to worse. She was no longer just fighting with her boyfriend, she had groupies to deal with (and his adultery to contend with), drugs and alcohol started coming into play (because all of sudden this guy was surrounded by a bunch of boot licking sycophants) and the final straw he started hitting her. He thought that he was invincible! He thought that he could do anything that he wanted because he was famous and that he had money. Wrong! My friend finally got fed up with the abuse, groupies and the I’m sorry gifts, returned each and every single gift that he ever gave her and walked away from the relationship. My point is, the guy was a dog from the beginning, we just didn’t know how much of a dog he was until fame and fortune really let his personality loose! Bret=DOG!

Hi LNCronan, Whether Eva wants to admit it or not, that was a key turning point in her personal development. She no longer played to her insecurities. Looking at other websites would only have hurt her emotionally. I think that was a positive step.

Hi LNCronan, I read like a freaking slow turtle...sigh! I'll join in the next discussion later on in the week. Oh boy will I ever be behind in the posting department! :)

Hi LNCronan, I don’t buy that whole thing of Brett wanting Eva back in his life because of love or deep attachment. I think that Eva was good in bed, or the bathroom stall or the limousine, or whatever and I think that somewhere he missed that. Just think about all the adoration that Eva must have heaped on this guy and what did Brett do? He went and blabbed about it to his buddies. I think it was a punk move on his part. If you look at what Brett said. Eva was his muse, that doesn’t imply love. This man feasted on her body and her adoration and spit on her in return. Yes I know that people can grow, but let the dude grow with someone else. I know Eva can do better, way better than Brett! What do you think? What does everyone think?

Hi LNCronan, I wouldn’t go as far as saying that Eva would want to jump Brett’s bones. She had a silly teenage crush on him. It never came close to what she has with Gideon. She never had open communication, or trust or even love. Yes I know that those things have been issues for both Gideon and Eva but there is one important difference here. Eva has never had to degrade herself in order to get Gideon. Gideon openly and actively pursued Eva, and not the other way around. No matter the relationship started, Gideon has made several concessions for Eva. She wasn’t just another floozy, she was special! Regardless of how Gideon’s relationship may have been playing out, this man is seriously in love with this woman

Hi LNCronan, Yes it is true that Gideon had himself photographed with Corinne but I don't think that he could fake chemistry with her. If anything he isn't in love with her and his eyes would show it. From all of the descriptions mentioned in the book, Gideon never directly looked Corinne in the eyes. I think that is telling. Wouldn't every photographer want the "money" shot of the two of them gazing lovingly into each other's eyes? I think a photo like that would make a nice profit for the person who took it.
-
Hi LNCronan, I have to wonder the way you are setting up this scenario, it seems that Corinne doesn't even want Gideon at all. It is like she bent on winning the contest of getting Gideon. There is a difference between the two. If Corinne really loves Gideon then she would back off Eva and let sleeping dogs lay. Just how deranged is Corinne?
-
Hi LNCronan, I wasn't looking at the situation from that perspective. I was looking at it from the perspective of what might happen if Brett doesn't back off from trying to win Eva back. I don't think that if Gideon told Brett to back off and he didn't, that he would take it lightly. I am also under the assumption that Gideon would be able to persue Eva at that point. What do you think?
-
Hi LNCronan, As far as the Brett situation is concerned, I wouldn’t dismiss Gideon getting revenge at a later date lightly. Gideon has always been a master planner and somehow I don’t think that this situation would be any different. Gideon seems to be a man who takes his time, plans things out well and executes those plans with deadly precision (no pun intended here). As far as the Corinne thing is concerned, I could see Gideon telling Corinne to “chill†out about hassling Eva. I could see him saying something like “…it is beneath you…†or maybe Gideon could use a subtle threat of not liking a jealous woman and that could put their relationship at risk if she keeps that kind of behaviour up. He may be setting a subtle way out of this “false†relationship. Personally I don’t think that Gideon is leading Corinne around, it is just a possibility. What do you think? What does everyone think?

Hi LNCronan, You make an interesting point. Yes you are right a picture says a thousand words, but has anyone stopped to consider how Gideon might have been looking at Eva when their photos were being taken? I think it would have been painfully obvious that this man was in love with Eva. I suspect that Gideon never looked at Corinne in the same way. The eyes always tell the truth! I think that Gideon was smitten with Eva and I am sure that any press reporter worth his or her salt would have picked up on that fact. Maybe even you? :)
-
Hi LNCronan, I agree that Gideon might not directly imply that Eva was a cheater but how do you think that Gideon would counteract what the media reported? How would he be able to spin this to Eva’s favour? I too, thought that maybe Gideon picked the fight with Brett purposely. I just couldn’t figure out why. I still can’t find a place for it in my theory but, I could see Gideon lining up his ducks just in case. He seems to have the type of character that is always ten steps ahead of everyone else. What do you think? What does everyone think?

Hi ShazScott1980, I agree! I can hardly wait to see how that dynamic plays out in the next book. Christopher Jr. seems so proprietary about everything in his life. I think he would feel so possessive about what is his! What do you think?
-
Hi LNCronan, Do you think that Brett really doesn’t have anything to lose? I think if anything Brett risking his professional relationship with Vidal Records would be a concern for him (well apparently not). Some bands are signed on a per record basis, so I guess it would really depend on what the terms were of the band signing with Vidal Records would be. After all Gideon is the majority shareholder in the company so technically Gideon could oust Brett’s band if he really wanted to. What do you think?

Okay there Missy, Now I have to wonder if you have been bitten by a radioactive spider. You seem to exhibiting fine “spidey†senses! Good for you! Way to go! It is amazing when women excel in their professional careers! :)

Hi ShazScott1980, Something you said just made me wonder; what kind of relationship do think Ireland has with her brother Christopher Jr? There doesn't seem to be any interaction between the two of them. I have to wonder why? Hey here is something really out there, do you think that maybe Eva uses her Krav Maga skills to help save Ireland from her brother Christopher Jr? Maybe Christopher Jr. feels betrayed by "his" little sister when she decided to bond with Gideon, so something that Christopher Jr. does puts Ireland in harms way? What do you think? What does everyone think?

Hi LNCronan, I thought about the “cheating†angle and I wonder if Gideon would allow Eva’s name to be smeared in the press. This man absolutely adores this woman and somehow I couldn’t see him wanting to put that kind of negative attention on her. I agree that if Gideon did kill Nathan, it would certainly be advantageous to his alibi. Why would a man who was cheated on go and kill a man from that woman’s past? I just don’t know if Gideon would risk Eva’s reputation. If for the sake of argument Gideon did use Eva to help his alibi, then how would he spin getting back together with the same woman who cheated on him? What do you think? What does everyone think?
