I am hoping that Eva and Ireland become closer and in doing so Gideon get's on a bit better with his sister as she no idolises her brother.

Hope weather better today for you Julie, we have lovely Sun up here in Edinburgh, and don't faint but it is actually warm, T-shirt warm, OMG why do I have to be stuck in the office :D

Morning (Afternoon in europe) Sheens!

Apart from Gideon's and Eva's HEA my next wish for this story is for Ireland to really become part of Gideon's life! Yes he has Eva but I think that if he lets Ireland in as truly family it will be wonderful! She hero worships her brother and it would me amazing if they actually have a relationship which I hope begins to develop in EWY!

No good quotes in Chapter 16, but the best I can come up with was the fact that Eva made d*** sure Gideon didn't blow off her off on the phone that Saturday. Because Monday, he'd barely speak to her -- couldn't wait to get her off the phone (he was on his "date" with Corrine at the time). Tuesday, he rushed her off the phone too, because he was busy (security team meeting, though Eva assumed he was with Corrine again.)

Saturday, she got him on the phone and yet again he was pulling that "not a good time to talk" bull. She wasn't going to let his weasle his way out of talking with her this time. From page 285:

"Then just listen. I'll time myself. One minute. One god**** minute of your time."

The photos might not have come out. If there wasn't any arrest and the investigation was still very active, the cops would be looking to get info from Eva not give it to her. What Graves did -- leaking secrets about the case -- was highly unusual. Until a case goes to court, nearly all the investigation files are secret.

But don't you think once the police started investigating, the records are unsealed then Victor starts his own investigation after the meeting.  I think it would be harder on Eva to find out from her father.  Personally, I think everyone keeps so much from Eva it is time to give her all the information.  She needs to get control of her own destiny.

I'm not sure how I would feel, if the man I loved, had seen photographic evidence of me being abused. I think devastated, mortified and repulsed would be a good description.

Yes he went about it badly, shaking head Gideon, but he wanted to protect her at all costs.

There was a chance all sorts of things could have slipped out -- including the fact Gideon committed the murder, the cops hauling him off in handcuffs. But the chance still remained that other things might stay a secret, and Gideon was counting on that. I think that next to the darkest truth of all -- he was the killer -- the second darkest truth was the existence of those photos, and he probably hoped that too would stay a secret.

Especially if it was possible that he somehow managed to locate the originals and destroy them. My own belief is the whole reason he/Stanton/Monica initially started stringing Nathan along was to locate and destroy the photos/video.

Already, the fact Gideon somehow knew about Nathan being in New York slipped out -- slipped out because Gideon was stupid enough to have gone to Eva's on Friday night instead of staying away, knowing that the body was found that morning and the cops would come calling sooner or later. They came sooner. It was Gideon's own bad he was put into a position where he could not deny he knew Nathan -- and had to dance around the question about where he'd been on Thursday.

But for Monica to come in wailing the next morning and essentially blurt out Nathan had his own little stash of homemade child p*** starring Eva -- well that was Monica at her personal dysfunctional worst.

I agree completely.  I just think she had to be told.  In my opinion it is after this point that Eva starts to get a hold of her situation.  She hits bottom so to speak, but she has all the information, except what Gideon did, and starts to fight back.

I just realized I kinda contradicted myself -- chastising Monica for telling Eva about the pictures, yet wanting to chastise Monica/Stanton/Gideon for all having kept Nathan a secret in the first place.

They could have gotten Eva killed. What if Nathan had gone after Eva first, instead of Cary, with that baseball bat. Sure, Angus was watching over Eva -- but she wasn't exactly acting safety conscious and could have slipped away. Indeed, that's exactly what she did Tuesday morning, left the hospital without warning and was actually walking the streets toward the Crossfire when Angus found her.

I guess I'm just furious about the way Monica told Eva. Totally thoughtless, totally clueless -- totally wrapped up in her own drama.

I agree, she should have been told about Nathan being in New York, but not the photos. That was one step to far. She didn't need reminding about her abuse so graphically. To live through it is bad enough, but to see pictures, no way. Poor woman, probably would have been triggered by them.

In Gideons defense I think that is just a part of who he is. He may not even realize he is taking charge of the situation. He also said at one time he doesn't understand Eva's need for boundaries or rules (like hacking info from her cell phone w/out asking) but will respect them....

My hubby picks a lot of my clothes, and has similar issues with being sure I am safe.... But thankfully he isn't as overboard as Gideon. :-)

Lucky you!!!!!!

Her mother should have told her that she saw Nathan that day after lunch at the Crossfire.  No one should have kept Eva in the dark that much.  She had a right to take matters into her own hands.  Secrets don't help anyone.

I think Gideon starts leaving Corrine at home more often.  He does take Ireland to the Vidal Records thing (in the snippit with Bret)  Maybe from now on Ireland will act as escort.

From Ireland's POV, she will love the attention from her big brother. She likes Eva, and vice versa, so alls good there at least.

Idk about anyone else but I love Ireland for a reason! Im rooting for her, I want her to have a relationship with her brother. She grew up in this household in which her brother was distant and really it wasn't any of her fault but she has to deal with Gideon's relationship with the rest of his family and be grouped with the rest.

OK -I found one part of chapter 16 that I liked page 283:Victor to Eva:"You've got a good head on your shoulders."..."You're honest with yourself. That's a good trait to have."Go Victor!

Victor is such a great parent he is exactly who Eva and Gideon need in their corner I hope they can all find their way back to each other in the new book...

Me too. It takes a long time. And i don't think the pain ever fully goes away.

no JLS it doesn't, unfortunately because of that and terrible Endometriosis at 19 which resulted in a Hystorectomy I was never able to have children but life goes on and you just have to deal with it all, s h i t happens it is what you make of your life after the hurdles that count

YES!! Victor is good people! And that begs the question..Is Victor STILL pining for Monica---after all of these 22 years?Really, Victor????

Why didn't he move on. Victor is a catch. There was a brief mention of a date. He needs a good woman, and not hold a torch for Monica, who has moved on 3 times! I'm sure Eva would like to see her dad settled.
