Gideon says that saying "I love you" is the wrong words about how he feels for Eva.

What if he is saying his version of his feelings for her every time he whispers? He does it on at least 3 occasions, throughout both books.

I'm sure Sylvia said we would find out in EWY.

Getting so excited!!

Probably his own version is another language re: Italian....

Ok so here is my theory about what some others are saying in regards Corinne killed Nathan. I don't buy that for a second. 1st of all we have no reason whatsoever to believe they ever met other than the fact they were both in the Crossfire the same day. And if Nathan was in Gideon's fighting him its most likely security was called at some point and he was escorted out of the building. While Gideon didn't know Corinne was in the building why because she never made it past the lobby for all we know she was "manhandled" by a security gaurd when she refused to leave. Seeing Eva coming back from lunch she just decided to play along with mussed up looks to try and play on Eva's insecurities. The more I think about it the more I lean towards Angus as the actual killer with Gideon playing puppet master. I believe Gideon informed Stanton to make sure that Stanton and Monica had alibis for all of Thrusday night but didn't give Stanton specific details. What makes me think this is the Monday after Cary is attacked Monica and Gideon talked while Eva was with Cary. Then Monica told Eva that Gideon was going to marry her when Eva asked why she said that Monica replies because he's taking care of everything. I don't think Gideon would tell Monica anything specific other than when Eva is heart broken just play along its all apart of a plan to get rid of Nathan. Monica was probably a bit confused at first until Nathan turns up dead. I also believe if. Detective Graves is so he** bound to break Gideon's alibi because she didn't believe the whole Corinne cover story that she repeatably visit the hotel to interview employees she would have definitely interviewed Corinne because as Gideon's date she would have supposedly been with him all night and as much as Corinne wants Gideon she wouldn't have let him out of her sight the 30 minutes it took to get to and from Nathan's hotel(15 minutes walking each way) Even though Angus is an employee he and Gideon have a strong bond since Gideon's childhood so if Gideon were to trust anyone with protecting Eva through the extreme of murder its Angus. Gideon isn't stupid enough to hire a hit man he knew the cops would records of financials. Thrusday night Eva states Angus drops her off at Dr. Petersen at a quater til six but never mentions anything about how she got home. I think Sylvia left that tidbit out on purpose. Also in the excerpt eva says Gideon has proverbial blood on his hands which I found to be interesting wording why add the proverbial.

Hi Jennpenn,

It's been my theory too that Angus played a direct hand as well, though I believe it was Gideon himself who did the deed. I think Angus was an accomplice in some capacity, most likely as lookout and/or helping to sneak Gideon to and from Nathan's hotel. Under the law, accomplices are as guilty as the person who personally commits the crime, and accomplices face the same charges. A common example is bank robbery crew: the getaway car driver faces the same penalties as the person(s) who pull the gun(s) on the bank tellers, and the driver also would be charged with bank robbery. Accomplices are present in some capacity during the actual commission of the crime.

Part of my theory is that years ago, Angus took the law into his own hands to stop Gideon's rapist from further victimizing him, because Angus decided he couldn't trust Gideon's family and the system to protect Gideon. This is what I think earned Angus Gideon's total trust. Years later, Angus was the only person Gideon would trust when Gideon decided to take the law into his own hands to stop Nathan instead of going to the police.

Regarding Corrine and Gideon's alibi, we can't assume the police have not interviewed her. The only thing we know at this point is Eva has no idea whether or not the cops interviewed Corrine. It's my belief that Detective Graves did get around to interviewing Corrine as part of Graves' busting the hole in Gideon's alibi. Graves probably did so right after Graves found out about the kitchen fire and the hour-long evacuation it caused at the hotel where the party took place.

Not that Corrine could have told the cops much of anything. But Graves did go looking, I'm certain, and Graves deliberately avoided telling Eva this. I think Graves withheld a great deal from Eva -- she fed Eva only enough information to fool Eva it was safe for her to go back to Gideon.

I'm betting (hoping) Eva (and thus we readers) are going to finally learn a great deal about what actually went on the entire time Gideon and Eva were estranged and then broken up, and this will include Gideon confessing details of how he used Corrine. As Entwined opens, Eva is now on a need-to-know basis about the details the entire cover-up, now that Eva is actively part of fooling the police.

One of numerous things Eva needs to know is how much (or little) of a problem Corrine could be moving forward. Things could be a little dicey there if Corrine starts connecting any dots (or even already has connected some dots) about why the police would even ask her (Corrine) about Gideon's movements on the Thursday night Nathan was murdered.

SD confirmed that Gideon killed Nathan!!!!!

Got a brand new thread devoted just to that shocker (well shocker for some -- I'm just shocked she actually answered that question prior to June 4.)

Other big news -- Crossfire might go to five book. However long it takes to tell the story is what Sylvia said.

Eva said to Gideon,

Gimme that coffee, I want to be caffeinated when I kick your Arse!

When they were talking about going to six ninths concert. She ought to use that statement as a slogan to promote the blueberry coffee at work. Lol

 Hi Julie54,

Now there's a slogan to build a campaign on! :)

KiMa,

I've always believed that he's saying love in another language that doesn't use it so broadly or as we do in English.

I don't like that receptionist either. I thought she was a red-head. In any case, I don't like her because I get my claws out for anyone who messes with Eva. Lol. I'm sure she drools over Gideon all day.

And I don't care if Corrine isn't a bad person as Sylvia says, for the fact that she moved back for Gideon and within a block!!! No way. She needs to go. Oh my. I will have to take the day off from work when the book comes out!

The main receptionist for Gideon's floor atop the Crossfire is a redhead. So is Dr. Lucas' wife, who Gideon f***** to get back at the (not so) good doctor

Meanwhile, every woman Gideon socially dated prior to Eva was brunette -- everyone knew this. Also brunette is Gideon's first (and prior to Eva, only) serious girlfriend, Corrine. Gideon's mother is brunette too.

If I had an opportunity to ask Sylvia about just one spoiler subject, it'd be the significance of the hair color thing. Specifically:

  • Had Corrine, a beautiful blue-eyed brunette like his mother, been the only brunette Gideon ever slept with, doing so because of some "Mommy issue" related to abandonment?
  • After Corrine and before Eva, Gideon strictly divided women into two groups: those he dated socially and those he f*****, never mixing the two. Did their hair color determine which category they were automatically assigned? (i.e. he'd sleep with blondes and redheads but no more brunettes, meanwhile, only brunettes need apply for celebrity arm candy on the red carpets. Or -- did he continue to restrict himself only to brunettes, be they dates or sex partners -- and that the only two exceptions to this were the redheaded Anne Lucas and the blonde Eva.)

KiMa, I think it's obvious that Gideon became acquainted with the beautiful blue-eyed brunette Corrine because of his mommy issues. He feels she didn't love him enough and here this younger version pursues him in college and bam.

As for the red-heads, I think their hair-color has nothing to do with anything. He slept with the doctor's wife because of who she was and that's it. I think Sylvia mentions that the receptionist is red-head to assure us that Gideon doesn't give her the time-of-day just like Dr. Lucas's wife.

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to clarify that Gideon's mother wasn't a brunette.  In Bared To You pg. 219 Sylvia writes "...His mother and sister had his colouring, both women boasting the same glossy obsidian hair and thickly lashed blue eyes."  It seems that both Elizabeth Vidal  and Gideon share the same beautiful raven hair so I don't know if the brunette theory would apply.  I don't think that hair colour is the issue.  What does everyone think?

Bared To You, has just been nominated for an award.

Think we all agree on these pages that you are no.1 in our eyes.

Where can we vote?

Congratulations Sylvia.

Thank you! But there's no voting. There is a panel of judges who decide the winning novel.

Oh wow! Look at what I missed being at Disney all week! Lol...So many new threads and Sylvia popping in ! It's going to take a while for me to catch up! :)

So happy to hear Victor will be back! He's going to be sooooo mad!!

I have never been so attached/invested/addicted to a book before, and I like to read.  This is the first time i've ever joined a 'book group' or been obsessed w/ postings about a book. So much fun! These characters are so great. I really can't wait to read more about them and their journey.

Oh! I had a thought...I don't remember what chapter or even which book..but I thought it was funny that Mark told Eva that she was "Golden"...only to see later on that Brett wrote a song about her w/ the same name...lol..
